My dad has terminal cancer, and jut a few months after his 80th. No idea how long he's going to last.

Given its movember -- Gents, please get your prostate checked. No excuses and the screening is just a blood test these days, let it go and it will get you.

Sorry to hear about your dad.
I agree, guys get your prostate checked.
Another thing to lookout for is bowel cancer, everybody that has turned 50 should have received a kit to do a feces test, do not ignore it as picking up problems early is best.

Just went and spent a little money I didn't have for a bit of ongoing enjoyment (budgeted for it) and on the way home am now sitting on the side of eastlink with an overheated car with what appears to be a busted radiator and possibly stuffed engine.

Flashbacks to this time last year in exactly the same position.. Is not the patrol again thankfully but it is my daily driver and money I don't need to spend :(

I have a big gum tree that is on the fence line so we are not sure whose responsibility it is and it drops leaves and branches more than any other tree i have seen.
I have asked the neighbor if he would like to get rid of it but he doesn't so i have to put up with it, might have to give it a diesel injection.

I believe in the above cases you are responsible for the maintenance and disposal of anything "your side" of the fence, even if the tree begins in a neighbouring property. Agree that it sucks though...

Yeah. The crap part is he's supposed to be my tradesman, and I'm the apprentice, but There has been numerous times where the boss has confused my work with his, mine being at acceptable standard, his not so. Being the apprentice i seem to get the blame for everything. Just had another argument about a job that was done wrong. Proved to the boss I wasn't there, but I still have to go fix it. Just really annoying me as I have worked the last 2 weeks without a day off, busting my ass, and still getting all this crap.

take the door up cuppa...use rope or small ratchet straps to hold it rolled....let the u bolts off...the spindle will spin to neutral position....is ok...if you can get a hand to lift it down ..then lift it down...move the brackets up the desired height ..put door back on them and u bolts...leave straps on and rotate door about 2.5 turns to retension..if you have no motor then you have to use a weight on the floor and small rope to handle or something on door to stop it spinning back so you can take the straps off and pull door down....what are you doing about the guides and the lead in ?...I used to instal them...plus check how much of the door is left on the roller before you lift it too far....I have left half a foll on before but that is cutting fine

I know you will hate hearing it but..... Call them, ask them to review the recorded notations from your July conversation. Ask to speak to the supervisor. Elevate the complaint and seek action. You should have no trouble sorting it out with the right person.

If they tell you they can't ask to speak to their supervisor and keep going up the chain until you can find the person with the power to make a decision. Expect to be on the phone for a good hour or more though. Hands free and loud speaker is your friend. Just keep at it, be patient and make sure you get a decision before you hang up.

Thanks Menace. I ended up lifting one end whilst leaving the u bolt on the other end still tightened & then repeating the same on the other end. The brackets I made to hold the higher door stops included new ‘lead ins’. I used a rope tied to a rafter, around the rolled up door & tied outside to the back of the Patrol after realising how easy it would be for the door to roll off the support brackets. (Had a ‘moment’). Still got ⅞ of a roll on the roller when the door is shut. All good now. Have raised the clearance height as much as I can, up by about 100mm which hopefully will be enough, but it’ll be very tight. Might still have to let some air out of the tyres.

Had the same thing happen to me recently. Had a wifi device cancelled and started a new contract with a new device etc

Then I went travelling for a few months to come back to a pile of bills from telstra and a few letters from recovery agents threatening me

Made a few phone calls which they were useless as. Tried the 24/7 chat with no luck. Just more frustrated. Then finally went into a telstra shop.

The guy in the telstra shop looked it up. Could see exactly where they went wrong. He rang Telstra for me. Told them they were idiots and to take the charge off and give me a credit for the stuff around. It was quite funny listening to him on the phone to them

Took a while but finally worked

As they will be searching for any more ammunition they can find to make the opening in my behind bigger for them to shove their foot in. Not that they will need it already. Just hoping this will be over and done with quickly. Whichever way the pendulum swings.

Looks like getting out of a franchised base company is proving harder than expected. It was looking good for me to be officially finished as of last week, but it looks like now I have lawyers wanting to ruin me. If it goes the way I'm thinking, emotionally and financially I am f$%ked! Its already taking a toll on my family as they are feeling the bite too. Just trying to keep my head above water right now so I don't drown in this battle which is starting to turn full blown.
I have done everything right by this mob, helped them out on numerous occasions to get them out of the poo from clients, fixed their stuff ups and kept their disgruntled customers happy and to stay on contract and this is the thanks I get!

Are you under contractual obligation

Are you under contractual obligation

This is a grey area Ben. To try to put it in a few words.
I was, and then under another 3 year period but with a "handshake" agreement for me to exit when I want. As the paid period was only for the first three years, not the second. Now I want out, I am going through this.
Its my own fault for doing this handshake agreement I know, as I should have seen the warning signs, but everything was going really good whilst under contract. Then it turned to sh!t afterwards. Getting me to do all their dirty work and stuff ups Which I did and fixed well, and saved their arse on many occasions.
I wont go on about the crap going down at their head office too. But its not rosy there at all too.

This is what happens when you trust someone.
Lessen learned.
Franchises only benefit one person. The owner of the franchise. Franchisee's are only an employee of the company (whom pay to be one)and a franchise owner when it suits them.
I'm just hoping the outcome will be better than I anticipate.

This is going by my experience, I'm not saying other Franchises are the same, but from the people I have spoken to in other Franchises, and in different fields, its all the same but in different ways.

One good thing about all this I will say. It has given me the courage to step outside the box I was living in, prior to all this. I worked in the one place for 18years only because I got comfortable, but got very bored at the same time. It got me out, and willing to have a crack at something on my own. This is working so far. Not the Franchise though unfortunately.

Cheers.

Yeah this is a big lessen learned about that I tell you. I just have to deal with it and try to move on in whatever way this goes. The big annoyance though John. I had a little factory lined up too, not far from home, was cheap to rent as it was via a friend of mine, and was just getting into the finer details of moving into this. Looks Like I ain't now and are stuck at home with stock over flowing everywhere. Haha! Ah well. My train of thought is clearer today, and I'm just trying to look at the bright side. Maybe moving wasn't meant to be yet.

My ride-on mower has decided to join the Labour Party, as all it wants to do is steer left...

After a few teeth broke off the mechanism this morning, I spent four hours cutting fire breaks by turning left and doing loops to turn right. For about five minutes after I got off I had to walk while trying to stop falling over as my brain was compensating for the G force.

Is that the one for the harmonic balancer? On our yota 4 banger, I used an Impact socket and a breaker bar, with a thick pipe and used the starter to crack the nut. I had to make sure the bar was wedged in tightly and that there was no one around. ( Not recommending that anybody do it this way as it breaks a lot of rules, but an old school mechanic told me how to do it.)

Having the same TV commercial come up twice on at the same break and more than three times during a program. I refuse to buy whatever they are slogging and have sent letters to vendors and broadcasters. Given I rarely watch TV, for this reason, so it won't impact me much and so far none of the vendors I do buy from have done the "viewer your so stupid we have to run this commercial many times"

Stripped the ride-on mower down and took the parts to a mate that works on them. Looking at a couple of hundred just for some badly designed cast crap that is designed to fail. While I was there another bloke offered his old Rover that has a dying engine (Carby butterfly screw has gone through it) and the alloy deck is on its way out, for the same price.

Decisions, decisions. Persevere with our old Husqvana that is falling apart. (I put a new engine in it last year and it is tearing the mower to pieces).
Buy the Rover, whack the engine in and build a new deck.

Whichever way I go, I have to break the news to Mrs mudsane ... and I can't run very fast either.

Am back in hospital due to not being able to manage the post operative pain. Doctors came round today and had the results of the pathology tests from the lump that was removed :(

It was a low grade malignant tumour of a nerve sheath within the muscle between my ribs. I am booked back in for further surgery on the 8/12 so they can take a larger tissue margin and will then be referred over to the oncologist for further treatment as required. At this stage they are talking about radiation therapy but will find out more over the coming weeks.

I will be fine in the end but it's still a scary process that's ahead :(

If I don't make any positive progress after 12 months then I have to look at surgery with disc fusion and possible disc replacement and something else but I forget what else was possibly needed as well, think it was nerve blocks.

Flies in the face of the ridiculous insurance specs report that there is nothing wrong and that the painkillers and eczema are causing problems in my back.

Saw independent Ortho spec today, basically back is shagged. He has made a verbal recommendation to defer anything for 12 months pending longterm recovery, "if" I recover back to this pre-injury level.

Hopefully lawyers can sort this crap out.

My prior employer stuffed up their tax filing for last financial year so badly it doesn't match the (correct) group certificates they issued.

End result is I'm still waiting on my return months later, and the last pay wasnt even for a full week as I changed jobs a couple of days into the financial year.

Had some slight cracking on the first coat, applied second and you can still see the cracks damn it!!!

Primed it perfectly and didn't go too thick on the coats so no idea why that happened?

Nothing mate. Its back to exactly what she was doing a while back and I've touched nothing... Chip unplugged or plugged makes fark all difference.

I just went for a drive again and she was a lot more responsive , instant power at touch of pedal.

If it makes you feel any better, I was doing my brother a favour and swapped my tyres onto his car so he could see how it went with 33s and in the process I've found that one of my front wheel bearings is stuffed.

One of my biggest frustrations is sitting behind someone at a round about or intersection who doesn't have spatial awareness. they see a car entering the roundabout on the other side, or if its an intersection a car 300m down the road so they wait, and wait and eventually after hundreds of cars have passed they themselves get impatient and make a move just in front of someone, freaks the bejesus out of me cos I am normally in a hurry when I am behind one of these. and it happens very often

Angry is probably too strong a word.

Disappointment.

I had arranged for a weekend off, it's been a shit of a year and I need a weekend alone, me and my swag, deep in the bush to simply enjoy the piece and quiet. To enjoy being in the bush for the first time since our teen decided to become a bigger pain in the arse.

This is actually a coping mechanism for me. Keep it simple, no fuss, absolutely nothing that isn't needed.

My wife has now arranged for relatives to have all the kids and is coming. Now I love my wife and have been trying to spend a weekend alone for months, it didn't have to be this bloody weekend. Now I'm having to pack a ton of shit I don't need and take the bloody camper and then I'm going to have to clean and pack everything away.

I'm sure it sounds ungrateful, but I need some bloody time away from everybody!

Rant over.

The wife needs a break as well. We have a teen who was suicidal earlier this year, over the past 12 months we've gone through a heck of a roller coaster and fortunately a combination of antidepressants and other medications, counseling and change of school have come a long way to resolving some of those issues. Unfortunately we also have some long term mental health issues to deal with as well. Managing a mental illness is hard work for everybody, its extremely hard work when your the parent.

My break will have to be the australia day get together ;)

Go and buy a manual then mate and all your problems will be solved.

I'll just say this and that is there are other ways in which you can handle the situation and they do not involve being abusive... just prove him wrong and not turn this place into a slag fest.

I to never joined for a manual and when I first joined got paid out but chose to respond in a way that made him look the fool without being abusive.

Cheers enjoy your stay if thats why you are here?

You still get paid out...... :p

Listen guy's if ive offended anyone I apologize, for some reason that post got right up my nose, this thread is called what makes you angry and it did and if you found what I said was abusive then as I said I apologize, I was unaware that was the norm on the forum, it wont happen again,

No problem mate its easy to get things screwed out of shape on the internet... TPC is a senior member who is like many of us frustrated at people that come on here and post a heap of useless crap then piss off..

We do take pride in not being the sort of place that abuses others... yes we get tetchy at times but this is normal..

Please by all means hang around and you will find we are a good bunch.. cheers.

It's allowed to get up your nose if your genuine. But you went a bit overboard calling the person who posted that names, he didn't direct his frustration at anyone particular. We get heaps of people everyday who post in threads that are years old just to get the manuals.

Like bloodyaussie said you could have been a lot smarter with your words and your point would have been more clear.
