To be told that your being made redundant and u have to re apply for your job
Isnt that a big noo no? If they're making a position redundant they can't then re-advertise that same job....... I wold assume you would have to apply for a slightly different position?
Either way, sucks balls. Sorry to hear that

That's not good but if they are making you redundant then they have to pay out the redundancy which is a bonus sort of.

2 fools passed my wife on bikes today down Mckinnies rd and nearly clipped one..... just as she was thinking glad it was not me that hit one there was chaos everywhere as one of the young boys slammed into a tradesman ute and ended up inside with the driver and his passenger...
My wife stopped to give assistants as the ute driver was in severe shock as he did not know what had just happened... the boy was only 24 years old and lasted only a few minutes before passing.
His mate on the other bike was off to the side with no one offering him any comfort in a state of shock as my wife thinks the kid that died was trying to keep up with the older more experienced rider.
As my wife was trying to clear the roads so the ambo's could get through people were telling my wife off????? F$£king dickheads!!!!!!
The poor bloke is in a state of shock and this will never leave him.... my wife is deeply affected as she watched the whole thing happen and to see the boy half inside the ute was horrific..!!!!!

Tailgaters are what sh*ts me more than I can express.
When we lived in the Blue Mountains and worked in Sydney, I used to have my fair share of those nitwits who love to stay less than 2 metres behind you, even though you are cruising at 110km/hr or more.
I recall one day after a particularly sh*tty day in the office, I was headed up the M4 and had this bloke in a small-ish sporty looking tincan glued up to my tailpipe. I did all the normal good citizen things like moving out to the far left lane, gradually slowing and other "friendly gestures" but to no avail.
As my blood pressure rose, I reckon the twit was trying to be funny because he only came closer. I fact, he followed me from the middle lane to the far left land and only shortened the gap.
So I increased back up to 110km/hr just to see him even closer. I was driving a manual 3.L Patrol - well kitted on 33's etc and was cruising in 5th at 110.
When I finally cracked, I jammed the Patrol down into 3rd and dropped clutch. This resulted in me dropping the speed from 110 to probably 70 or so without showing any brake lights.
It was an absolute pleasure watching the twit swerve and fight the wheel behind me trying to avoid a read-ender that would have all but wiped out his sporty tincan and left him at fault.
After this, he kept his distance well and faithfully and didn't come anywhere near me on his way back home to mummy!
This is definitely one of those "don't try this at home" things though

Yup tailgaters make my blood boil very quickly.
I don't mind so much at work, since they are playing chicken with all of 30T of truck. My current truck at work, has a very effective exhaust brake. Once that kicks in, no brake lights are on, and the car behind me tickling my tow bar gets a nice little surprise.

Spending $900+ dollars for a aux fuel tank and the vendor can't spend <$10 (generous estimate) on protecting the product. Just how much does a piece of cardboard (6mm) or ply (6mm) cost to put on the bottom of a tank that will be handled with the bottom down??? Please !!! Just looked at the pic AB and looks a lot like a very starved Dingo to me, could be ill or very worm infested.
Maybe previously domesticated and someone decided it became to much trouble to keep it and dumped it. There is no sign of it having worn a collar (if it was domesticated) for a very long time as the hair takes a long time to grow back like that around its neck.
For all those asking if you shot it, if it's a dingo (and very hard to confirm) it's protected in Victoria http://www.depi.vic.gov.au/environment-and-wildlife/wildlife/dingoes-in-victoria
Your call but I'd be checking with DEPI for advice, only just saw this so may be long gone by now.

Either that or rheumatoid arthritis just gotta wait for the blood tests to come back. Never thought I would say it but I hope I've got Ross river virus, at least it goes away eventually not like that bloody arthritis.

I had it about 15 years ago and it was severe for about 6mths.
the worst symptoms were the joint pain and rash but other symptoms were nausea, headaches and depression.
It kept returning for a few years too but less severe.

Bollocks! Just had a phone call from the MrsTea. Currently she is still living in Gippsland until she finishes up her job there in 2 weeks & comes up to Ballarat to join me. On her way home this evening she found a stray dog wandering & thought it belonged to the new owners of our old place. She put it in the car & took it to them, only be told it was not theirs. So keen to find it's owner she drove around to other neighbours, who were out. As she left their property she had to negotiate a washed out section of their driveway. Her car is a little ’02 Misubishi Mirage hatchback, with not a lot of ground clearance. You guessed it ....she hit a rock. First time in the 5 years she's been driving it up & down the dirt road the ground clearance has been an issue. On stopping half a km up the road at another neighbours she saw a pool of oil under the car which was getting larger as she looked at it. It's looking like she's holed the sump plate. :(. She's going to get the Racv to take it to a workshop on Monday & because our address is now in Ballarat, she is officially over 100kms from home, so is hopeful they'll supply her with a rental car until the damage is fixed. I just hope that it is only the sump plate & that a second hand one can be found at a wreckers. The fact that oil was leaking out when she stopped suggests there was oil still in the motor whilst she drove it there, (it only holds 3.5 litres). Bollocks again!

Really bloody cranky about baby boomers.......
Why do those who received a free education, fully funded healthcare and reasonably retirement age of 65 now create a situation where I will have to pay for all their health care and benefits through increased taxes while I work until I'm forkin' 70? First you made my generation pay for the education you got for free, never paid enough tax during the boom times to support our future infrastructure development and now this......WTF? How about putting your hand in your pocket you pr!cks and save GenX and those that follow the pain of paying for you......again.

The Government have to put up the Retirement Age as we cant afford to Pay for the Pensions and Benefits.
Nor can we afford to pay for NIDS , the NBN. (Reasonable Social Programs but we cant afford them).

In the same breath I am told that I am to fly to Melb to work on the upcoming insurance strategy when ALL staff, brokers etc are here in TAS.
All up this will mean accommodation, flights ect for 5 people, seriously WTF junket or what????
Then there will be a trip to the UK later in the year, also not required as we did it last year and no one over there is expecting us, but hey the exec wants to go.
How is it they tell staff that they need to take lower pay to make the company cost effective and in the same breath organise junkets that will cost in excess of $30k ??? Gives a great impression

Governments are not the slightest bit interested in investigating this as they reap increased Tax on every increase.

I apologise in advance if I offend but......
EDIT: while living in/with the environmental disaster we will inherit.
Rant over.
Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner
I read a while ago an article which made sense, so of course the gruberment will never do it..
Went along the lines of $1 million for every retired person at 55..
They had to buy an aussie made car (bit late on this one..)
Go on a holiday in Australia,
Etc etc..
It made sense as it would continuly boost Australia's car industry, travel industry, tourism industry, engineering industry and so on and so on..

AGE OF ENTITLEMENT and BABY BOOMERS
According to the Internet (so it must be true) Baby Boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 so I'm definitely one so I must be one of those pr!cks referred to in an earlier post.
When I was born life expectancy for males was 67.1 so people were expected to work about 50 years and enjoy a few years of retirement.
Life was good, we lived in the country, walked miles to and from school (no school bus and mum and dad couldn't afford bikes for four kids), we didn't complain.
We made our own fun (after the work was done, cutting firewood, feeding the animals etc.). We 'processed' our own chickens and lamb and supplemented that with underground mutton fairly often, we didn't complain. We didn't have technology, geez when we finally got a TV we had to stand up and walk to it to turn it on and off and to CHANGE channels (there were 3 channels).
Well we all survived primary school and that meant a bus ride to high school in the big smoke. Up even earlier to walk to the bus stop and we were lucky to get home by 5:30pm. Of course there was still work to be done, but we didn't complain. We all took it in turns turning the hand separator or churning the butter.
By the time three of us were catching the bus, mum and dad decided it was time to move to the big smoke (well not that big), I hated it but it was best for the family so we didn't complain.
It was normal to leave school at 15 and go to work, the lucky ones got an apprenticeship - that gave us 50 years of work before we could 'retire'.
Living in town opened up opportunities for part time work. My first 'holiday' job was filling muffler bodies with asbestos and fiberglass, geez that stuff itched but that's nothing to what the asbestos could still do to me. I had this and other 'holiday' jobs until I started full time employment, how I remember that first $35 pay packet. Naturally part of it went to mum and dad for board, but we didn't complain.
My lucky number didn't come up and I missed the Draft, time to buy a house and get married.
Recall buying our first home (no first home buyers grant around then), recall interest rates hit 18% (what are they now?). Babies came along (twins first up), it was time to stop after four children. No Baby Bonus then but we didn't complain, we got on with it. Lucky for us we had 'free' healthcare from 1975, it only cost us an extra 2.5% in our tax. It's exactly the same now, free in a public hospital, we paid the extra to get our own doctor. Still have top cover now and was still over $6000 out of pocket the other year (but we didn't complain, well a little bit).
My wife didn't work as in those days you looked after your own children, this meant I had to get another job to support the family.
Every Saturday morning in winter would see me ar5e up in the air hand picking spuds into large bags, then loading them onto the trailer. Always scored free spuds, life was good. Summer was spent hay carting, most of this was 'cash in hand' so I didn't complain.
Throughout this time we upgraded our house and bought a small property, loved it and so did the kids. Live started to turn full circle, with the kids having to catch the bus to and from school it was time to move into town.
The kids got an education and got on with life and are all doing well, so I'm not complaining.
Decided to upgrade my skills and started University part time ended up going full time and working part time. Yeap I got a massive HECS debt but I didn't complain, I paid if off. I've been working for the same company for the last 18 years and hope to continue for many more - but that may not be my decision.
Superannuation wasn't mentioned when I started working, we paid our taxes and assumed that if needed the pension would support us in our few years of retirement. There was never any money left over to put into extra super contributions anyway, we put it into the house as I don't like debt. If I make it another few years to 65 I probably won't need the pension unless I live to 80, which I doubt.
I'm trying to keep fit but slowing down and it's getting harder to get up on these cooler mornings. My back is about stuffed and my lung capacity has diminished a fair bit. I was tested for asbestosis and mesothelioma earlier this year, turned out I had whooping cough so I didn't complain.
These days most people start working at 20 compared to 15 for the baby boomers. Baby Boomers can retire at 65 and for GenX it may become 70 - unless my maths is wrong that gives us both a 50 year working life.
I'm glad I am part of the Baby Boomer generation, it's a hell of a lot better than my parents generation. Yeap I worry about the future for my kids, I think I've instilled a good work ethic in them. I'm more worried about my grand-kids, after seeing some of the current ME ME generation whingeing and complaining I'm glad I won't be around.

Move to a smaller town, George. Ten minutes to drive to work, ten minutes to go to the beach, cheaper housing, etc. etc. 2 problems with that mate, 1 my mrs and 2 my mrs!! Lol. The problem is people don't know how to drive, everyone is in a rush to go nowhere, they fill spaces in lanes for no reasons and leave no room for error. Just yesterday there was a fatality on the same stretch of rd which saw the fwy closed for 4hrs, when it re opened another car rolled 30 mins later. Tonight i only could see 4 cars that all looked like total write offs but apparently there was more according to the banter on the cb from the truckies.

There's road works at Darnum on the highway at the moment and every Friday I get stuck waiting there for ages because people are stupid. They've blocked a lane and if everyone jumped in the right hand lane early and didn't try to fly up the left lane and push in at the last minute then we'd get through a lot quicker. Anyway I'm not looking forward to going through it tonight.

More frustrating than getting angry, but one of the companies we contract to have their own apprentices.
1 is a 4th year who has had no enthusiasm, no will to learn, dodges hard work, cant even turn up on time, dosnt take direction and takes no responcibility. When pushed will winge and complain to others that we are a pack of c@#ts.
2 weeks ago the 4th year sat the capstone exam and failed miserably. Failed the theory and was stopped halfway through the practical because no clear understanding of basic circuit testing and wiring was shown.
Its a shame but I have no sympathy.... not one bit, If you are not prepared to set goals, make sacrifices, strive to achieve you will go no where in life.
The 1st year is a good kid, keen, works hard dosnt complain, wants to learn, but Dumb as a fence post.
Today I set some basic wiring exercises, mistakes were made as every one does, I guided him through making it work which he did show an understanding of what was wired wrong and how to fix it, which is good. Then makes the exact same mistake again, he told me again why it was wrong and how he was going to fix it, which was correct so I went to a break down and cam back and the exact same mistake was made again, it happened at least half a dozen times after this, the exact same mistake time and time again one after the other when he knew it wasnt right but still made the exact same mistake, I also had him making perspex covers for sensors, and again he miscalculated some measurement and I corrected him, all go honest mistake. After the 4th time making the same mistake I put the straight edge in the right spot and marked the line for him. Immediatly after he then moved the straight edge back to the wrong spot and started marking the line I just told him not to.
What the f@#k do I do lmao.
