Afghan Australians were planning to kidnap and behead random members of the public in Sydney and Brisbane in support of the Islamic State (IS) group in the Middle East, senior law enforcement sources have told the ABC.

Police allege Mohammad Ali Baryalei, who has been identified as the most senior Australian member of IS, instructed 22-year-old Sydney man Omarjan Azari to carry out the attacks.

Random members of the public were to be snatched off the street and beheaded on camera, with the recording then released by IS.

Azari, who was one of 15 people detained in huge police raids across Sydney and Brisbane this morning, has faced court charged with conspiracy to prepare for a terrorist attack.

The ABC has confirmed a house being searched at Revesby, in Sydney's south-west, is the part-time home of Hamdi Al Qudsi.

The 39-year-old was charged last December with recruiting people to fight in the hostilities in Syria.

Federal Police and detectives with shovels, suitcases and what is understood to be metal detectors spent several hours searching the public housing property.

It is understood officers were also inspecting chemicals found at the house.

Al Qudsi is yet to enter a plea to the recruitment charges and will face court again next month.

Indeed, listening to talk back radio last night, a number of Muslims rang up to say how disgusted they were with the behaviour of these animals. They all stated they appreciate australia and her values compared to the homeland they left....These are the people I want in Australia.

Really what we are talking about is straight up criminal behaviour.
When the IRA were blowing innocent folks up, we didn't blame all Irish Catholics. Australians need to hold their nerve and understand these are criminals not people of religion.
Unfortunately those who wish to vilify all Muslims are doing exactly what these psychopaths want and helping to drive a wedge between ordinary, decent people......

You are spot on the money Drew. They are criminals running amuck committing hideous crimes. Those protesting in Australia about governments sending troops are supporting that criminal behaviour. Our country as others are, have committed assistance to rid those countries of these criminals.

We all need to remember, they are not Muslims or Christians, they are criminals that must be defeated and held accountable for their crimes.

I called him today in the arvo to find he has it back in and the only gear he can get movement is reverse !!!

We just had a wheel come off the car. Yesterday a shop near home removed the muddies on steel rims and replaced them with All terrains on TI alloy rims. He used the same wheel nuts and they loosened. Luckily we were going slowly as most of the 250kms we had done today where on the highway.

I called the shop and he is already trying to shirk responsibility. I had my wife and kids in the car, so I won't go quietly.

All the alloy rims have flogged out, the studs are also stripped from the loose nut/rim and when the wheel came off the the guard has dropped on to it and the passenger door is now catching on the guard.

I am pretty furious!!!

Sh*t mate. As long as everyone's ok. Have had the same thing happen and it's pretty scary stuff!

Was told when I was all good to go again that over-tightening on alloys will crush the rims and cause issues. Also will "stretch" the threads which prevents them from staying tight.

Best piece of advice is never trust anyone but yourself when it comes to tightening wheel nuts (and don't even trust yourself)! I check mine regularly now.

Again, glad everyone is ok.

French president Francois Hollande has confirmed the authenticity of an Algerian jihadist group video that appears to show them beheading Frenchman Herve Gourdel.

Mr Gourdel was kidnapped on Sunday in what the Jund al-Khilafa group said was a response to French action against Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq.

A man identifying himself as Mr Gourdel, a 55-year-old tourist from Nice, appeared in a video released by the militant group on Monday in which they claimed responsibility for his kidnapping.

The video in which he is shown to be beheaded, released online, came after a 24-hour deadline for Paris to halt airstrikes in Iraq had passed.

My Uncle's life was cut way too short. He had the genes within him to live well into his nineties as my grandfather did. He would have been exposed to the stuff when he served with the military overseas and then later as a mechanic. I hate the stuff and anybody that supplied it, even after they knew it was dangerous. In the early nineties, it was found that a lot of the gaskets we used on locos were asbestos. Management sourced different gaskets, but a couple of years later, we discovered that some new gaskets were asbestos. I have a mate who used to renovate kitchens and bathrooms. He is now struggling, just to breathe.

Give a few local panel beaters a call mate, I can't imagine it being a hole lot more then $600. Plus that way it doesn't look as bad on your insurance. You can then also choose who you want to fix the car not how the insurance company wants.

Dunno about a wet cam, but a web cam yes :) Might go for a drive and see if its the carnt I think it is. Ill then check for rubber on the inside of the rear guards. If theres evidence, I will leave a note of warning. If he does it again, I'll say nothing about the next bit...

I have a game I play with telemarketing people.

I say "oh you would need to talk to the manager, would you like me to find him"
Marketer getting exited "yes please that would be good"
I say " I will find him for you, his name isn't Waite"

And put the phone down.

Sometimes they are still on the line 10 minutes later. Appeals to my sense of a fair go. LOL

If I had the time, I would let them go through with there spill, ask a few questions and sound really interested and after about 10 minutes I'll say great product but I just don't want it. Goodbye and hang up.
There other one I did while the kids were young was as soon as they started there spill I jump in and say hang on hang on, just one sec, then I give the phone to one of the kids and tell them that it was Santa, tell him what you want for Xmas, or tell them them about your favorite superhero. Never took long for them to hang up.

Also when they knock on your door trying to get a better loan for you, I use to tell them that I don't have a loan I own this house a long with a couple others. The look on there face when you say I should be helping you with your finances is priceless, especially when your under 30 and with a couple of young kids.

That's a bit steep just for not paying a toll

If your account (etol) gets suspended in qld, each time you use a toll its a $25 fine. I use a toll twice a day so it could add up pretty quick. And the generally aren't real promote with notifying you.

Not from personal experience either.

It's not a fine its a administration fee for tracking you down via your rego number, I've had to get out of paying 25x3 when old e-tag stopped working but I was let off and tag replaced

There is a bloke in qld that does not pay tolls and they have stopped sending him fines because the law states you need to pay in legal tender which is cash and because they took the cash booths away he refuses to get a tag and he has told them to come to his place and he will pay them cash but they won't and they can't force him to pay via the net so he gets away with it. I like his style, he was on today tonight about a month ago with his sory.

Tell me about it. It was the last weekend of the ski season too if I remember correctly. We stopped at the booth, no one there, no signs, nothing. The cars behind us did the same and even when we were leaving car were stopping at the empty booth and looking around.
Stuffed if I'm paying this fine.

Just had some crazy woman intentionally push in and cut me off when merging doing 80kmh.

She was pissed because I took the left lane and she took the right lane which was slow because of everyone turning off and she wanted revenge.

I nearly turned red and then saw she had a car full of kids.

Everyone's invincible behind the wheel! What she did was really dangerous actually.

Should dob the muppet in!

All forum apps are crap, some just a crapper than others.

Highly recommend all 2 use the phones browser for forums, esp this one........if something did go wrong after typing out a post at least you can use the auto save feature which brings it back 2 the last saved point.......works wonders on long posts.

Hopefully Andy will incorporate the auto save feature in the dedicated NP.com.au forum app along with a heap of other stuff *L*
