They arrived at work at 7am to find all the toilet paper, including the part rolls in the cubicles had been stolen, so it became an OHS issue and they were all sent home - wait until we call you to return - true story, I sh*t you not! Govt dept shut down for that. Get 6 portables in from hire company and get on with the job. Cost of that vs closing the dept for a day? Bloody chief bureaucrat couldn't work it out with a pencil.

I hit the anchors quite heavily at about the 9sec mark in the video, just as he fishtails towards the car in the left lane. I couldn't have pulled up in any shorter distance, so the gap ahead is what saved me.
This is with an unloaded car, not towing, no spare wheel on the rear, 1/8th fuel in the main tank and 1/4 in the sub tank 2 adults and two kids under 7.
I'll be looking at new rotors and pads, potentially even better calipers in the future too.

Nah, checked with family but no takers. Only option they gave me was reschedule the outgoing flights for $110, no reschedule on the accommodation or return flights. Just cut my losses and cancelled, bigger things to worry about at the moment.
I’ll try the travel insurance again next week but already know the answer.

Rebooked Melb, bris, Mt Isa, either 5 hr wait for mine shuttle, book a car, or get someone to drive out and get me. have to wait and see if the shuttle from Mt isa is full or not - going to be a long day.

Despite the 'WATERPROOF' marking, these breakers are definitely NOT waterproof - at best they are splash-proof.
80703
I had mine fail recently. I dismantled it by drilling out the 4 rivets and the inside was badly effected by moisture and the contacts were all gunked up. I cleaned it up and got it working well again - at least until I fit a replacement.
There is a rubber membrane which almost seals the workings but the problem is the shaft of the little lever passes through this membrane, hence the leak as the seal is very poor.
Mine was claimed to be IP67 which is safe up to 1m depth. It was never immersed, just splashed or sprayed a little. Might look at making a little cover for the new one as mine is mounted flat.

Contender for Post of the Year

Can't claim credit for it Bob.

True story, was told that joke by a "Clown Doctor" at Royal Children's Hospital 3 weeks ago during a work contract there. In a kid's ward, he's dressed in big shoes, funny outfit and wig and big red nose. Standing there talking with the ward clerk he and his comedy assistant nurse walked by and told us that joke. I actually cracked up. She rolled her eyes.

Couldn't make this shit up.

That is one bloody amazing hospital for kids.

You need to be very careful using such a high current breaker. Even with a run of reasonably heavy cable it may not be possible to draw 150 Amps even into a short circuit. It only needs a total loop resistance of 0.08 Ohms (at 12 Volts) or greater and it will never trip. And your cable must be capable of carrying over 150 Amps (25mm2 or better).
Breakers and fuses need to be kept as low as possible if you expect them to provide any real protection.

Covid - 19 impacts.

Flight costs have increased by 6K over 6 rosters. Schedule for flights is really restricted. One flight a day out of Townsville to Brisbane. Noticed one of the Melb- Brisbane legs has been scheduled on a monster plane as well, so so much for social distancing!

The site is at level 3 restrictions and everyone is now on an 8/6 roster, or one that matches that - unfortunately this means I am now on a 14/14 roster, but due to the nature of the work, will be working from home in the first week of the home period.

The change in roster completely smashes Licola for me this year; however I guess its probably up in the air anyway - who knows? I am going to see if I can make a change however if this situation drags on, to get to Licola would cost me a months work based on the roster matching - not going to happen unfortunately.

Edit - Virgin have already changed 2 of the flights I booked yesterday, so things are very fluid at the moment it seems. Now its going to take 14 hrs to get home from site instead of 5.

Hi all, been fairly quiet on here for awhile as we’ve had a shithouse six months, Worked away in New South Wales for the winter then came home for the start of the hardwood season and it rained solid for five weeks and we only worked couple of days so I went back to New South Wales for a month then came back at the start of December, worked the first week then the following Monday morning the engine shit itself and had to put a brand new crate motor in , we got it going in 3 days then Vicforest shuts down for 2 weeks over Christmas but I had a private logging job to do so worked right through Christmas, New Years etc to get some money in the bank , then the f@%n fires hit & we were out of the bush for 7 weeks , Went doing other work - interstate etc to fill the time in but only just got paid for it now , started back in the bush at start of February but as Vicforest is 30days from the end of the month we don’t get paid till 1st April so 3 months with pretty much no pay has been less than ideal . Anyway that was a long winded explanation on my hiatus from here for a while I guess ,

I just got told that there is a heap of people camped up at Wonnangatta to escape the virus, however ALLEGEDLY they have been getting robbed at knife point for their supplies , A bloke who is friends with the local Coppers told me that & they have to go up and sort it out, if that is true and correct humanity has reached an all-time low but after seeing the shit fights going on in supermarkets over toilet paper, nothing would surprise me

The COVID-19 message has been flogged to death on site, so what does one of my contractors do, he waits 3 days before reporting to the medical clinic saying he is feeling nausous and now he is in isolation in camp, awaiting outcome of tests. Rule 1 if ill stay in room, rule 2, if ill, notify immediately, stay in your room, rule 3 if in a particular 'at risk group - aboriginal, take extra care, refer to 1 and 2 - WTF is wrong with people. Heading back to camp now to wake a guy up on night shift and move him out of his room as these guys share a bathroom. I guess you cant put brains in statues.

This COVID 19 (Coronavirus) has affected us all in one way or another.

In my case, tomorrow morning I join the Centrelink telephone queue as I'm no longer able to work as a driving school instructor, due to social distancing.

To add to my challenge of being temporarily unemployed, my regular 5 year colonoscopy I had in a bush hospital, requires follow up surgery in a city hospital. I got told surgery will be in 2 weeks time - as at last week, so I'm just waiting on a phone call with a date. It's not a major issue, but it needs sorting sooner rather than later. Like I've said to a lot of people, if it was really urgent, they would have flown me out by Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

I can't afford to be angry and have to stay focused and as healthy as I can as I await surgery.

What I am angry about is people not playing by the rules. The longer people rebel against authority by not doing what they're told, the longer this thing will drag out, and the more it will spread.

It doesn't matter if you agree with the rules or not, you must, not should, obey them.

I don't live in or with fear, anxiety, stress or worry. Of course I'm concerned, that's why I'm playing by the rules.

Take care out there and stay safe.

One of my daughters joins the unemployment queue next week, she was working 3 jobs, a swimming centre 2 days a week, a clinical lab with any shifts she could get and at Kmart with any shifts she could get, all have dried up.
She is also studying and has said she will now be able to finish her studying faster, I love her attitude.
What scares her is going into centrelink, she has never been in there before.

Unfortunately this has severely affected a lot of my family and their partners. One totally stood down, another on four days a week and that dries up in the very near future. Some of the others are just waiting for the inevitable, tough when they all have mortgages.

We’ve been in total isolation for over two weeks now, only outing has been to the specialist.
Sure am missing the grandkids, FaceTime just isn’t the same as a real hug. We used to babysit one a couple of days a week and loved it, also regularly picked up another one from primary school.
They are struggling to understand this and it’s pissing me off that people don’t get the message. To kill this we need a total isolation and it should have started weeks ago.

The way it’s going we’ll be isolated for six months. We now have groceries delivered and in the process of getting prescriptions delivered as well. Just need to setup Telehealth if possible, anything else we need the kids will drop off. My superannuation is also taking a severe hammering and at my age that’s an issue.

On a positive note, I’m getting all those little jobs done around the house. Just hope the arse doesn’t fall out of the realestate market.

I know what it is like missing the grandkids, my oldest son and family went into total isolation early because of his lung issues and we haven't seen grandkids in 2 weeks, already seams like an eternity.

This is whats going to be the downfall of all of us. Stubborn humanity!
My job takes me all over the place daily, and i get to see lots. And even today, I am seeing a lot of "business as usual" scenes, everywhere. Playgrounds are full. I have driven past 3, yes , 3!!! Which were packed with families, kids.Right next to my house, there was 15-20 blokes having a casual cricket match on the oval. My own court where i live, large family gatherings for birthdays, etc have been happening. Saturday got a call out to a house, where they had a jumping castle being prepared for a large kids party...

And here I am, stressing about stopping at shops after work to take bread and milk back home to the family, without catching this chinese c*** of a thing. Makes me mad!

Those guys can all work together in close proximity to each other all day but as soon as knock off hits it's all of a sudden illegal?
I work in a small office with 3 others and we have accepted that if one of us were to get the virus then it's a sure thing that we would all end up with it.

Greenies make me angry . They have shut down half our industry - this was pre virus - by getting court injunctions & stopping work on logging coupes . I’ve got a few mates with millions of dollars worth of equipment that havnt worked for nearly a month in the peak logging season through whimsical & fictitious stories being told by the green movement . They’re carrying on that “ it’s ludicrous to be logging the small percentage of bush we have left after the fires” etc etc - there’s 17million hectares of bush - public & privately owned - in Victoria & 1.5million was burned in the fires , yes that’s a lot that got burned but totally the opposite of what they’re saying . Virgin have hit the the transfer limit on their account into the Caymans... if they fly tomorrow it means they will have to start paying Tax in Australia which they have managed to avoid up until now.

Either that or they have kicked the Koala outa the cot and won't fly till we give em 1.4 billion to fund their Exec bonuses this year

Until the last few years we used to be all spread out logging all over the place - now thanks to the greens & their injunctions locking up bush everywhere they’ve very cleverly left small areas alone so where do you rekn we’re working now ? All in the same areas - snobs creek at Rubicon & up at Matlock - so now everyone is virtually logging next door to each other there’s vast areas in 1 spot being hit hard which isn’t a good look & is playing right into their hands - their aerial pics from drones show it & it looks ordinary- & make no mistake we don’t like it either . Their mis information & manipulation of what people see makes me angry . VERY

Reminds of an expensive experience our GM (Ex-Gunnersens) once told from years gone by.
A certain few Victorian coupes were apparently/completely LeadBeater’s Possum devastated and required corporate intervention to continue.
1 to 2 million dollars was invested if I recall correctly via State-Zoo breeding programs for new littlens/biggens to be released into the wild.
Unfortunately and sadly almost every single breeding program LBP ended up dead :-(
Turns out apparently that the LBP naturally is one of the most illusive/aggressive Aussie’s and bashes the living crap out of newcomers invading their territory [emoji106][emoji106]

But to say NOT to buy Chinese, you will be running around naked for a start. There is far too many consumables that is only made in China.
What I do, particularly when food shopping is try to buy Aussie where I can. Im happy to pay a little extra for local product. I saw some ham that said it was made from 25% Australian products. How is sliced ham 25% Australian. The water pumped into it is?

The problem is created by the world. Everyone wants as much as they can get for as little as they have to pay. China woke up and said we can make anything for $0.05c so the world said 'that's cheaper than we can make it, we'll make more money if we get you to make it, can you make it for us please?' China said 'Yes'.

China makes more, china gets bigger, china gets richer, china represses it's people, china stays in control.

It's the world chasing greed and money that is the real villain, the world has made china the power it is now. It's ashame the world was more interested in making money than it was in watching and realising the juggernaut it was creating.

The problem we have now is China have stopped importing Australian barley and beef which has halved our exports.
As a result of this we have a massive trade imbalance with China, if this keeps going China will own a large portion of Australia.

I am not racist at all, have no problem with Chinese people, my granddaughters are part Chinese.
I just have a problem with the way the Chinese government is punishing Australia and trying to bully us into backing down on our request into investigating how Covid 19 started.

Was that in melbun? My daughter was quoted for new brakes and rotors and $75 for windscreen blades. She came home for Covid. Me drives the car down to the local, wiper blades swapped on the spot for $15. Brakes looked at and tested and told all OK.

Alloytec V6? If so, is it throwing up a code suggesting the timing chains are stretched? Will indeed cost a lot if you answered yes to both questions!

It is the series model before mine. Can't comment on the petrol. While she still has statutory warranty ask her to have it out on a hoist and CONFIRM the All Wheel Drive system is functional. I have blown the 4wd Coupler 3 times.... expensive fix. If it is blown the car may well run perfectly as a Front wheel drive without you knowing anything is wrong until you need AWD on a wet road.

Is it equipped with a belt or a chain? If the Holden Cruze is the same as a Chevy Cruze, it isn't a major job. There are Gates timing belt kits available. I think some have a water pump included. A good mechanic should be able to do it without breaking your bank.

I have an old chescold 3 way and it leaked gas out of the hose connection and that caught fire off the pilot light. I received a wiring diagram today that made no sense and actually would not work. I sketched out what i thought was the solution, and bingo, all good. i then rang the supplier and tried to explain to him that his supplied diagram required modification but he wasn't interested. I then asked if he has his circuit installed, and he replied he has tested '1000's' of these devices using his test bed and not a problem, so I asked if he could have a quick look at the wiring for the relay and confirm it is as per the supplied drawing. He got all pissy but went away and returned about 5 minutes later to tell me the test unit was wired differently to the drawing. i explained how it should be wired and funny enough, thats just how it IS wired. To that he started off on a rant about 'the chinese and the local sparky who wired it and updated the drawing - and funny enough, not even a thank you for sorting it out and letting me know - maybe he was having a bad day, but a bit of gratitude would not go astray - his voiced trailed off as he was wingeing about having to change his documentation etc - UNBELIEVE IT! It was a neg earth switching circuit, so a little different but not greatly.

Those cherry pickers are nasty things, especially those older highly used rental ones. With the wrong control inputs you can almost invert that tiny platform you are standing in, and the control cables often break when you are all the way up, leaving you stuck 15 metres in the air. :) :) :)

So I park in the loading zone, to load up the trailer. Behind two tradies utes also parked in the loading zone. I cop a $165 fine. I write them a letter explaining the situation, "their" works are causing this in the end. My letter is rejected. They also send me the rules and regs on who can an can' park in the zone, one I noticed of who can, is cars with trailers! Go figure! WTF?!

The rubber won't matter mate, it is only a grease boot. Could be a panard bush. Jack up front axle and see if the tie rod end is knackered. Can just swap an end out. Even pack with grease and it might be ok. That big a shake may well be something broken though.

The rubber won't matter mate, it is only a grease boot. Could be a panard bush. Jack up front axle and see if the tie rod end is knackered. Can just swap an end out. Even pack with grease and it might be ok. That big a shake may well be something broken though.

Thanks mate yeah it’s pretty loose twisting it but I’ll have a good look at it in the morning.

Was a pretty wild ride home, I can’t see anything noticeable apart from the tie rod but everything else seems ok from a 5 minute inspection.

Not really angry although I guess I am at myself - trying to hurry & slipped & fell over ribs 1st on a sharp edge , ended up in hospital with what I thought was broken ribs - couldn’t breathe properly & the PAIN - OMG , after a day in hospital & xrays then ct scan found no visible breaks they concluded I’ve bruised the muscle around the ribs - did I mention the PAIN! anyway I’ve had a week off work , dosed up on endone , Panadol & nurofen + an anti inflammatory gel , last 3 days no endone , slowly getting mobile again but very steady . I’m gettin old & take longer to repair I’ve noticed 😔

I did a similar injury at work. I was sure I'd broken a rib and it put me off work for a week or so. Got the X-rays, no visible breaks! Bullshit, hurt like they were broken haha.

Couldn't believe the pain for no break, felt like I was just putting it on!

Yep. Tore my hamstring last December. Still giving me grief. Haven’t been able to go for a run since it happened.

Pain is an understatement ! - the nurse asked what’s the pain like on a scale of 1 -10 ? , I said right now it’s about 6 - at that point the muscles spasmed & I replyed through gritted teeth but when it does this it’s about f %@kn 15 😬 as I bent over the hand rails of the bed

Nissan have released a bulliten on the paint issues and if (as far as I know) we jump through the hoops they fix, have seen quotes of nearly 20g paint jobs, just sux car only a.november build 2019

Is it just me, or does everyone have the luck of buying stuff that is faulty. It seems every third thing I buy has to be returned. My latest list.

1 x dash cam. 1 x battery charger. 2 x Fridges, yes the first brand new one had sweet bugger all refrigerant. The second was just a dog of a thing. Thankfully they took it back and we bought a different brand. 1x reciprocating saw.

How the hell do manufacturers make any money?

I bought a milwaukee router and today, the courier dropped off a box that had bits and pieces for the router, but no farken router.

My bad luck is always postage related.

Bought a Makita 18V brushless grinder 2 weeks ago, absolute magic flexibility and today whilst using it, cutting light - 1mm galv sheet, the thing stops and red button on etc, close inspection shows three of the screws holding the gearhead in place have come loose - screw driver to tighten and 2 are stripped already so i don't have to wait and strip them myself - so a trip back to total tools tomorrow for a warranty claim - maybe 2 hrs old.

They aren't cheap either! I scored one via redemption a years back, chose the 7" but could have chosen a 9". It's a beast, I have used on several occasions and haven't had any dramas

Unfortunately Philstar you may well experience in this new age a fairly decent wait for replacement.
I have no gripes with TT or any other like business model tool suppliers ST etc...
The new business models of this millennium appear to work on the skinniest of margins and unfortunately have to defer all claims back to OEM suppliers and their warranty chains I’ve personally found.
Bought a top of the line, biggest-badest most expensive Makita original belt sander a while ago now which failed and was apologetically contacted by TT monthly as to their suppliers woeful updates on fixing my 1 week old purchase.
Have experienced exactly the same with BCF and a kind family birthday present Waeco Solar panel kit that required myself to divert from store and self deliver to an outer suburb garage elecy genius that had his hands tied from paperwork bullshit.
Top bloke did his best and eventually replaced the obvious controller issue after they swore otherwise and eventually gave up his contract I believe was one of his last fixer upperers for them :-(

We are a Milwaukee dealer at work and if a tool fails within a certain time frame (usually 1 month) it will be replaced on the spot. Otherwise yes it does have to be sent it for repairs but should not take longer than 2 weeks...

Unfortunately this is where Brunnings absolutely smashes the instant replacement market and probably did set the disposable scene!
Nearly no questions asked and tradies known are abusing this model changing coloured shirts in and out of home usage.
Nearly 30 odd years self employed and have truly seen the decline in quality of all the best brands.
Sarcastically, how is GMC tools going these days, maybe couldn’t survive on a 20% so called profit margin big B boys [emoji107][emoji107]

That sux mate. Do me a favour and start a thread specifically on this paint issue in the Y62 section please and add any correspondence or Bulliten details you.might have, the forum will benefit from this traffic as it becomes a bigger issue. The big GUIV Dash bubble saga saw a lot of people miss out through a lack of info. Let us get on top of this early.

NB . My GUIV just had a closed door respray under insurance and the price was $20k....
