FWIW it took me some time to work out how to post pics from a mobile device on the “desktop” version of the forum, but it is very easy actually. I honestly can’t navigate my way around on the mobile version of the forum.

I did it and now I cannot upload pictures from it. Only paid version can...
Didn't matter that much as I am a desktop interface kind of person (also easier on the eyes) but I would use it to upload one single picture to illustrate a topic comment or something.

With the sub-standard crap that comes with every second purchase, whether it be the wrong part, defective part, or just built wrongly, how does society still function?
Well!! My run of F@#K S%^ttery continues. Bought a brand new after market washer bottle from , Patrolapart, when I was in Melbourne. Went to install it today. I had already siliconed the two rubber seals and glued the motor housing to the bottle. Through past experience, I have found that the motors can pop out in rough conditions or if being jostled when changing a headlight. Which by the way, another brand new one has already got cracks in it and has moisture on the lens.
Any way, the motors are both leaking out the bottom, from inside. So I'm 380 ks from Lilydale stuck with two leaking bottles!!

Refitted the old washer bottle. On closer inspection, I found the exact defect in the bottom plastic casting on both new pumps, not the motor seal I suspected. I bet the whole batch is defective. Tried sealing both with silicone rubber. Only time will tell if it works.

I bought a low profile blood pressure monitor off the internet, so I could generate the historical for the doctors post the stent. Anyway the unit arrived, unwrapped the packaging and put it to the side for later use. Today I thought I would open it up, put it on charge and give it a whirl.
Well opened the box and no monitor or charge cable - ummmm, so searched the house in case I had hidden it from the gargoyle and nope, the box was delivered empty.
Now on the treadmill finding serial numbers, receipts, name of the neighbours cat and other equally important data to validate I have not sold the unit on gumtree for $5.
At least the response has been swift from the customer service department. I guess just another modern world issue!

Update is the supplier is not the owner of the problem, they cant supply any service if they dont have the order number and thats even when OI supply the copy of their model number and serial nuber of the unit - WTF? Anyway the plot deepens as this parcel was opened by the Aust Customs for inspection and sealed back up. I suspect this is where the item disappeared - so who is liable for the theft or possibly the empty box? I have kicked this to touch, not worth the time chasing for thr dollar value but frustrating. I will be able to get a refund I think via Paypal, so thats something - still dont have the unit and wont re-order based on the attitude of the service rep - will buy elsewhere something different.

Sorry to read about your mate, MB.
Angry at myself, and exhausted, and lucky to be alive. 4th time out in my tinny, and it capsized. Phone, keys, tools and a car battery with a brand new electric trawling motor that was laying on the seat, all at the bottom of the river. Had to cancel cards etc. My hands are cut to pieces from forcing my way through the reeds to get to dry land. Lucky an old lady was home not too far of a walk from the river. I called for help, mudnutette got me home. Selling the prick of a tinny after it is retrieved.

Thanks, blokes. had to give up trying to refloat the tinny. Bloody glad I always wear my life vest, because having a bad back was nearly the end of me. I couldn't hoist myself up into the reeds so had to swim to the other side into some shallow water. Bugger me though, it was a reed covered island, so had to drag myself through another muddy channel to the real bank. Had to ring the police too, so they wouldn't have to respond to any other calls about the upturned boat on the river. I've snagged a neighbour to help me recover what I can tomorrow. It happened so quick. I leaned and reached forward, the throttle slipped out of hand, the motor kicked sideways and 1,2, 3 I was underwater!!

Got the tinny, my drowned phone, but with the cash and licences still in it, the fuel tank, paddles a few buckets, the car battery was still attached to the boat. Also got my ammo can full of tools back. The car wasn't vandalised either.
MIA: the car keys, rods, tackle box and electric motor. My foot has blown up all bruised from a fall in the reeds but I got the engine drained of water and it fires but will not run. All in all I'm lucky to be alive so bring on the next adventure!

I was very fortunate to have gone to the Surrey River, instead of the Glenelg River. I am certain I wouldn't be here now, as that place is way more is wild and remote. Where I would have gone there are of stretches with cliffs on both banks and no chance I'ld make it to a safe exit. An EPIRB is going to be with me if I go off the beaten track, from now on.

The saga continues: Got the motor running, but exhaust gas was blowing the cooling water out of the inlets. I've stripped the head and side plate off. Have found some parts at Narracourt, just need to get some dough to pay for them. And by the way, thank the universe, we still have cash, because my new card hasn't turned up yet. Without cash I wouldn't have been able to give my neighbour and his mate some to cover expenses. Also i had to get fuel and pay for new car keys and new phone! Makes me wonder how we'll cope if there's no internet, phone signal, no power of if the phone system gets hacked!!

Casual drive through Mt Disa and Tallarook. I've despised going there for years due to dregs of society congregating there. But my son convinced me to go... Last time we went there, we dragged out a few bags of Kmart weekend warrior shit from the fire pits at a main camp.
Things are just as grim. From s#it everywhere, to tyre marks where they shouldn't roam. A greenie drongo with a camera would have a field day out there...

So, working through the garage to collate and get rid of a pile of stuff now surplus to the dual cab build. Had a nice stack of gear, thought I could either advertise on Gumtree and get rid of it at reasonable costs to punters, rather than inflating the costs and jacking it on ebay. Well, first two responders clearly scammers, stilted engrish, unable to contact me by their email or phone due to the sensitive nature of their jobs, relative makes contact first, then someone else will pick up the goods, wont pay cash, want paypal account details, cant define when they are arriving - I am simply over the way the world is heading or a small portion are anyway. So, after taking 2 hrs to load all the adverts, I got the shits and deleted the lot, going the pathway of ebay and see how much it costs me.

I remember dealing with scammers who would use vague language, avoid direct contact, and propose unusual payment methods that raised red flags. It was frustrating to sift through genuine inquiries amidst the sea of suspicious responses

Well not really angry, but disappointed.
I purchased a Scrub King under-seat compressor mounting bracket and switch bracket to mount the ARB CKMTA12 compressor out of the way.
First the incorrect mount was supplied; then after notifying them of the error they promised to send the correct one along with a return postage voucher. After almost 2 weeks without any delivery I contacted them again and received a notification email within a couple hours that my parcel was on its way (from Australia Post, nothing from Scrub King). It arrived in 2 days by express post. This one was black coated where the original was plain stainless as ordered - but that's not an issue. There was no return postage voucher.
Again contacted them and received the voucher via email, and returned to original incorrect bracket.
Communication was very poor.
The switch did not quite fit the switch bracket but a bit of filing soon fixed that.
The switch bracket as supplied is not suitable for the vehicle due to the air outlet hitting the pocket in the door so I had to modify the bracket and mount it differently, and as a result also had to relocate the compressor on the compressor mount.
The tube adaptor for the compressor supplied was 1/8 BSP but the fitting on the compressor is 1/4 BSP and no reduction bush was supplied.
In the end everything has worked out OK, but it should not have been this difficult. I have advised them of the issues so will wait and see what action (if any) they might take.

I've complained to the owners officially 4 times, nothing gets done about it. They are too gutless to confront him about it. Every one of those articles are produced and packaged and chilled and transported and stacked and restacked and presented and maintained in an environment from the start to your purchase in Multi Milllion dollar processes and buildings with dozens and dozens of participants in the process - this is an often lost 'direct cost' that people dont recognise when they pick up their food at the supermarket. If you were to walk from one end of a food manufacturing process for a mars bar for example you would be blown away at how much gear and processes are involved to make then package that sugary blob. Having spent 30 yrs + in food manufacturing and now 12 in mining I am not surprised at the costs, as every step has be remain profitable to be there to do the job right.

Yet to work in any factory that is so automated.. There are so many actions and things a machine cannot do, however processes can be configured to achieve the same results via different methods. From a production line perspective, I hate to say, the human is the weak link in any automated process, which is why they are removed/substituted wherever possible. To achieve the standards we expect and have the convenience with the quality, you need to automate, and to do that it costs.

Haha!
No theft here mate. They were aware of me ordering it, I simply told them what i was doing and the owners said they'll take care of it. They know how pissed i am at them for not doing anything about the manager, I make them more money than anyone in the company, i do 10 hour days with no break, 5 days a week, and get paid a pittance to what my manager gets. If i leave they know they will be screwed as everyone one my customers will simply follow where i go.
I just need this dick head i work under to go, bring an outside person in to be manager for all i care, and the company will make so much more money and will run so much smoother.
But it seems there is people like this in just about every work place so its probably nothing new.

Got a weird thing to be angry at. When we first moved in, we planted maybe 50 manna gums. With all the blue gum plantations being harvested, the extra koalas are killing our trees by over grazing. Mrs mudsane counted six koalas on our little place yesterday. I see heaps of wildlife organizations begging for money to save koalas. Easy fix: plant some trees in the areas that they used to be and take some of our local koalas to populate the new trees.

I haven't either, but in saying that speaking with my neighbor a few months back maybe a year now even, he said ( he is a manager for certain major outlet ) and that they are going robotic in their warehouses as they can no longer compete with another 2 major competitors.
I wouldn't say being automated achieves the quality we expect, I see aluminum boxes flooding the Australian market and they are shit and I mean absolute shit. Might be boxes people can only afford these days but still shit quality.
Our laser cutter has a press at their main factory, all the small repetitive folding jobs are done by robot now, the bigger and more 1 off custom jobs are still done by human.
End of the day, what are kids leaving year 10 or 12 that might not be the smartest of kids going 2 do as a job once they leave school? Certainly won't be in Warehousing

We have koalas in our trees, they moved on for some reason, now all the trees are coming back and looking much better.
Got a mate who used to work in the DSE. They used to go on Kwala culls coz they were killing tons of trees. Had to be kept all hush hush coz if it got out the sheite woulda hit the fan.
The Kwalas are nice, but they do make things look grim when they eat out all the trees.

So where we go to collect firewood, we drive past a rural property that gives me goose bumps every time i see it. I love it, nice house with the typical verandah going around the perimeter of the house. Its on 4 acres, about the size i want and a shed.
Well we go past it over the weekend and its up for sale! Goddammit! And its less then my place and i would be halving my mortgage on this place too!
But I am not quite ready to sell my place. Another 12 months our place would be worthy to sell.
Why now?

Why now?Sometimes the work you do on a property to 'get it ready for sale' is merely undone when the new owners take possession.
From the list of things you'll gain, it sounds like your best move would be to take action now, rather than wait. [emoji123]

Yep. The work needed is major however, bathroom, front balcony and finish the hall and stairwell flooring. These things i highly doubt anyone would undo due to costs.
My brain hurts just thinking about the logistics of trying to make this work.

Mate, as Cremulator said, no matter how much effort you drop into your house, there is a huge chance the next people are going to rip it up anyway and make it their own.
The days of "Reno and flog it" are gone. Potential buyers nowadays don't give a rats diarrhoea how much you've polished the product. So that nullifies how much effort and $ you do prior to selling.
If you see your dream property with a board at front. Act now.

Mark, if this place is your dream place and is half the cost of your unfinished current place, what is there to think about? That you could get some more if you finish the project? Your unicorn will have flown off by then mate. Of course other unicorns are out there but when will they come along?
Just make sure you get a good unicorn inspector to check it out before you mount up though. They can hide their fleas well those unicorns.

I agree with the others Mark. Last year next door neighbours put their house on the market, spent upwards of $15k on painters, carpets, blinds and what not.
New owners spent double that ripping it all out and a complete new colour scheme. We’ve bought and sold a few properties and always look at the potential of ‘what if we do this or that’.
What ever decision you make will be right for you.

If your dream house is there, does it really matter what you get for your unfinished property? Whatever you get for it will pay for the dream house & leave you better off. If you choose to stay & finish off your current place, your dream house will no longer be available & who knows what you will be able to buy instead when you sell in the future. So does it really matter what it is all worth 'on paper' if you have what you want & are better off financially with less 'on your shoulders'.

Yeah mate that’s what you have to do. Make it your mission to find reasons not to buy it. Then whatever your final decision is, it’s much more likely to be the right one.
And get a pro to inspect it if you get serious. Don’t buy without someone who knows their way around a timber frame check it out.

Well we looked at this place. Bloody beautiful. Everything done, manicured 4 acres. The size of the Mountain Ash gums on this property were jaw dropping. The long driveway and parking area from the front gate right up to the house had stones laid down so no dirt or mud anywhere to be seen. Old rusty tractor carefully placed on the lot for that rustic look, even an old steam powered machine. 100 odd thousand litre water tank, 3 sheds and one 8 x 10 garage also. The only thing it didn't have was a view. This was one criteria we said is a must have. There was kind if one to one side but not really much. But in all i left loving the place. But no view...
Then we had an agent come out to our place. This set us straight. To get the money we need to reduce our mortgage and buy another place, we need to finish it. The money we can get finished, its targeting buyers who want a "turn key" property. Not something nearly done. Which is fine by me, its given me direction now, not confusion.

Seriously, the reason there’s no traffic here any more has to be because nothing can be seen. I can’t see any threads older than 24 hours unless I delve into the matrix and manually search for a thread title I can remember. It used to be that when you pressed the “What’s New” button you would see pages and pages of the threads in chronological order of input no matter how old they were.
Can this be resurrected?

Yes something has changed and isn't/hasn't been rectified. The original format was brilliant I agree. Some posts disappear in minutes. What I have found successful is aftr selecting the 'whats new' button, if it goes into the error or redirection loop, just hit the circular arrow refresh button, might take to hits, but this is my solution that seems to work more often than not.

Allan head plugs are the biggest bastards in the world and belong only in aviation. But on saying that I’ve been progressively working loose Allan head screws from my Territory roof rails (been a bastard), but probably good for anti whistling on rooftops. Why wouldn’t sump plugs just be big old fat hex nipples?? Some uni graduate thought it would look nicer probably.

I am well paid, I work hard and add value and its taken a lifetime to reach where we are. Today my wife went to transfer some funds from the business account only to see the account was restricted, she had bills to pay etc, so rang the bank, sat on hold for 80 mins before Debbie in Bombay answered. Oh yes your account is frozen, we are conducting periodic random reviews of clients accounts and your account has flagged because of the sums going thru the account - You need to justify and prove the funds are from legitimate sources - like WTF??? Check the account history, been like this forever - NOPE, call back and speak to Kevin in Malaysia and plead your case and have your evidence ready to send. Upon successful review the bank will unfreeze your account. This world is getting out of control and there is nothing the mug punter can do to change it. you better now Andy?
I hope this is over. I had COVID back in the day and it was very uncomfortable indeed.
Yeah I’m all negative now but it’s left me with congested sinus every day, headaches and fatigue.
I don’t normally get sick but this thing just won’t go away, it’s a dooozy that’s for sure.

Am going through similar but not as painful mate. Had an unidentified US$10 charge on my business card from some medical supplier/place. Commbank flagged it with me which was good, but had to close the card down and put in a dispute on the charge. Account is still operational. They’ve given me the replacement card on the app but I don’t know how to use it physically. Waiting on the hard copy to arrive. Pain in the arse but has to be done.
Yeah, its all identity update for fraud protection. Would have been great if there was a way to identify if their emails are bonafide to begin with. Anyway, 30 mins on the phone verifying I am not a radish with pinko pinko tendencies and all accounts unblocked.
Did you know there is a second licence number on your drivers licence? Is on the back side directly under/on the last digit of the large 4 digit date of birth number - in bloody microdot - and they wanted that confirmed as well - which wasnt possible due to the way the licence is actually printed - its partially covering the number - sure if I had an electron microscope and a CSI Lab it would be easier.

Haha you bloody pinko.
Yeah also got a letter from VicRoads last year that my licence details has been leaked through a finance company called Latitude. Never been with them I thought, but then worked out back when I was broke in the early 2000’s I bought white goods on a buy now pay later scheme through Betta Electrical. Yep you guessed it, via Latitude. Bastards still had my identity documents 20 years after the loan was paid off then hey get hacked. Absolute MOFO’s. Latitude still advertises too the scumbags.

Not having physical cards and just using your phone is grouse. I have everything on my phone and haven't carried a wallet since Covid. I couldn't even tell you where my wallet is, its been that long.
