That people can just throw rubbish on the ground without a thought. I spent all day today digging up buried rubbish from the previous owners and 2/3rds filled a 3m skip.
And I reckon if I keep digging i will find more.

Sick of being on crutches confined to bed rest and it’s only been 2 weeks!!
Got an appt with the surgeon on Monday to see how everything is going with the ankle, but don’t know how I’ll go doing another month or more of this!
Also looks like all our camping plans for the Christmas break will be cancelled now. I can’t move enough to pack the patrol and camper, let alone set anything up onsite. And it’s too much to expect the wife to do everythin plus look after the kids!! [emoji30][emoji30]
Argh vent over!!

As for camping well, health is #1. Without being well, there won't be camping so... Instead of going on your large planned trip, maybe do some day trips instead to break it all up. So that way you dont have to pack heaps.

I had a physical altercation with a work colleague yesterday where I was had butted in an attempt to get a physical response from me. I reported it to my manager but it seems it has been swept under the rug and business as usual.

Apart from it being unacceptable behavior it appears 'acceptable ' in the eyes of your boss. I would head to the doctor and get a certificate and assessment for delayed concussion, lodge it with Workcover as a claim for injury. Not possible to ignore it then, understanding the potential for retaliation of course, so would need to be handled delicately and diplomatically.

That is shit mate, Your Boss has a legal responsibility to act and intervene. It is not unreasonable that you approach your Boss a day later and ask him what he intends to do. You are well within your rights to ask him his strategy. If he doesnt have a Conflict Resolution policy, he should. You can certainly rely on the one published by Workcover.
You dont need to have suffered a physical Injury to engage workcover mate. Your Boss really does need to deal with it. If you wait too long he is just as likely to say "Seriously! that was days ago! have you not got over it yet?"
I understand you have a good relationship wiht your boss, tell him you need this sorted out. Your job is not on the line but the other guy's should be.

Along with what others have said, you may even be able to see your Doctor and see if you can get some time off for stress / mental health reasons which can also be used in your favour with Workcover etc. I don't know alot about this stuff, but I do understand that there are others you can go to if your Boss isn't interested in handling it.
Sounds like workplace bullying and abuse.

So I ended up going to the docs this Arvo, she told me I should definitely go to the police and make a statement. She also gave me the rest of the week off.
I went to the police and spoke to a Constable on duty. She told me if I made a statement he would be charged. I was reluctant to do this as everyone makes mistakes and I wanted to believe that my colleague would move past his grudge and see reason. So no statement made.
This evening i spoke to a another work mate who was also witness to the assault. He told me the guy that attacked me had rung him, asking him not to make an incident report, that I was gunning for his job and that he would just deal with after work one day...
I'll be off the the police to make that statement in the morning. This guy is a fucking moron.

no no. Dont take Sick Leave. No way. Sick Leave is for out of work illness, this is a Work Cover claim 100% No Sick Leave required. So the Dr's Certificate is to support his Workcover claim not to be absent from work due to illness. They will have to generate a Return to Work program as part of the claim. So if nicco needs time off now, before work cover is involved, what leave does he take? Or does work cover kick in as soon as doc approves? Given myself a few uppercuts at work but seeing as I'm self employed never reported to work cover.

Workcover will be backtracked so anytime taken as sick leave etc will be reinstated , in my case I used up my sick leave ,RDO and some annual leave but had it all put back so don't worry what or where it comes from until the claim is processed.

Yeh that’s exactly what I’m dealing with now, currently coming out of sick / annual leave and once claim is approved it’ll be reinstated.
Just keep in mind the workcover only covers a percentage of your standard wage, normally up to 80% I think.

So if nicco needs time off now, before work cover is involved, what leave does he take?
It can be slightly different between States but here in W.A. Workers Comp works like this...
Workers Comp Claims are handled by an Insurer not the Employer;
You must have workers’ compensation insurance for anyone you employ who the legislation defines as a ‘worker’, including cover for claims at common law.
If/when an employee lodges a Compo claim;
When a worker completes and provides to you a Workers’ Compensation Claim Form accompanied by a First Certificate of Capacity, you have five working days to pass the documents to your insurer (take a copy for your records, and provide a copy to the worker)
The time off involved is essentially unpaid until the Claim is either a)"settled" or b) "accepted" but there are options for the employer/employee to use entitlements to keep money coming in.
You may consider paying accrued leave to your injured worker (such as annual or sick leave). You must ask the injured worker first, make it clear this is not workers’ compensation, and that payment of accrued leave or sick leave is a voluntary option until a decision regarding liability is made. If the claim is approved, any payment from accrued sick leave entitlements must be refunded to the employer by the insurer and recredited to the worker.
For the employee
If your workers’ compensation claim is accepted, you are entitled to be compensated for loss of wages, reasonable medical and allied health treatment expenses, reasonable workplace rehabilitation expenses, and travel and other expenses.
Note: If your claim has been pended or not accepted, you are responsible for your expenses. Keep all receipts and records of payments made, in case the insurer ultimately accepts liability – in which case you will be reimbursed for payments as if your claim had been accepted initially.
Note that Workers Comp process for Gov't Employees and Public Officers like Teachers, Coppers etc can be different.
The Government is 'self-insured' so similar cases EG Stress Leave & Compo between Public and Private Sector are often handled quite differently

I'm supposed to be semi-retired and kicking back but geez we've been hit by illness in the last couple of years. I'm booked into a couple of open water swims and at this rate will struggle to even complete them, not to mention the waste of a membership at the local aquatic centre that I should have suspended three months ago.
OK rant over, do I feel better - NO
But there are always people in a worse situation than I am so I'll shut-up now.

That bloody thing will kill you given half a chance. I learned to get completely better before trying to do too much, 'cause it bites back, hard. Look after yourself and let yourself heal properly. A bit of boredom now will be worth it in the long run.

Yeh that’s exactly what I’m dealing with now, currently coming out of sick / annual leave and once claim is approved it’ll be reinstated.
Just keep in mind the workcover only covers a percentage of your standard wage, normally up to 80% I think.

things may have changed but I received 75% of my pay till they forced me off work cover and take the payout.
If I could of hung on a bit longer I would have taken them to court I didnt know Id be having 20 back operations and maybe another in the near future,

Just had a torrential downpour and the entire drainage system for stormwater around the perimeter of the house backed up and overflowed. I hate poor design, and the underground services/pipes cant clear the shear volume of water off a large roofed house. I know the stormwater is run in 100mm, bit should have been 200mm from the start. Soon as the rain stopped it was gone in 60 seconds. Can't do anything about it now but if we build a new home this is going to be a key focus.

Playing basket ball with my kids on Friday arvo, in bare feet as one does. Some how I manage to catch my big toe on the bitumen and kinda roll the toe under my foot. I ripped a nice chunk of flesh of the tip of the toe. Tis' alright, just clean it up and cut off the flappy bit of skin. I go to bed that night and wake up in the middle of the night with the knuckle part of the big toe in excruciating pain. So i didnt sleep much from then on. Even right now I can't put any pressure on the ball of the foot when I walk.
I find a doctors open the next day, told her what happened, she take one look at it and says, you have gout! The injury has bought it on, if the pain was due to the actual injury it would have been sore instantly. This wasn't, it was fine until that night.
Great! So I'm having a blood test on Wednesday for gout. Seafood, shellfish and booze are two of the main causes, and I enjoy them both, a lot. Lets hope the doctor is wrong and the blood test come back with a negative. Stuffed if im stopping the indulgence. Its bloody Christmas!

Im wondering if the doc is wrong. As I looked up the symptoms, yep, doctor google lol, and one of the key symptoms was pain even with light touch on the area. I didn't have that. When i backed the trailer into the carport and unhooked it i noticed the car was sitting low on the drivers side. It has always sat a little lower but i blamed me being a fat bastard for sagging springs. It looked worse so i got under for a look see. I have looked a heap of times and never noticed before. This time it looked fine too, what i could see....... It tore the rear side of the drivers side which is invisible from pretty well every angle especially with a long range rear tank in. I stuck my hand up in there for a feel and bugger me it was fully torn.
As i said i have looked many times and not seen it. i wonder how long it has been tearing for! without feeling up in there id have missed it again. You can see it is fully rooted and i was surprised to see the actual spring seat was split too! Damn it.

Mine is coming from the front somewhere..
Hey mate is yours a 3L CRD? They have a common front timing cover coolant leak. Mine had it. And it was a bitch to diagnose !
I don't think this is your issue.... BUT ....
When you said, that today it all dried up, I brought back memories for me. lol
Basically, when motor is running / hot, no leak.... If i sat the car untouched for a day or so, leak appeared. Basic theory, when motor heats up, metal expands, sandwiching the timing cover. Motor cools down for a lengthy period, metal shrinks, small leak occurs.
Mine mostly accumulated at the bottom near the A/C. But sometimes I found it sitting under the passenger front chassis. Later on I realized it was making its way along one of the hoses and down onto the chassis.
Here is more threads on it...

Hodge, same problem here 08 CRD. Noticed it approx 4-5 yrs back, coming from behind timing cover at the top of mating face against eng block. Travels down thru and drips off below A/C unit, onto front axle/diff housing and then to ground. Appears approx 36 hrs after veh sitting (mainly in colder months). If driven daily probable would go unnoticed. Cause, yes, dissimilar metals either side of gasket (different expansion / contraction rates), metal gasket cannot accommodate separation and then leak occurs. Think they use a flexible gasket material now (silicon or polyurethane, not sure)
I torqued up the bolts, put a mild solution of stop leak thru, stopped after 6 mths and now only leaks occasionally. I just keep an eye on it as do not loose much coolant (approx 20ml / mth), just annoying.
What did you end up doing or did it take up overtime?

Ouch... only place missing coolant can go other than in the sump or on the ground is out the zorst mate.
How much ya losing and how quick?
ET, for info before I tried repair (timing cover leak), probable lost 100ml over a two week period, but mainly in colder months. Could go 3 wks and loose none. Was not consistent with my issue.

Hey there mate. Mine went to Nissan and got it fixed. That's where the service manager told me they do 2-3 of them a month. Mine was done under the stat. warranty from the yard I bought mine from, so I got lucky there. I can't say what the labour was worth, as I haven't dealt with the paper work side, but it took them 3 days to do it.
And they broke a few other things in the process... Collateral damage.
I should also mention, that when I was doing the rounds for this job to get done, a few mechanics told me to not bother fixing it... Just keep an eye on it and top up as required unless it is seriously bad. It can be a hefty job depending on how they attack it. Some even mentioned taking the motor out. The motor came out on my one as they put in a set of new engine mounts in the process.

This !!!
As I mentioned in my initial post. My leak was mostly evident during cooler months. Summer time I hardly lost any.

Take it back and they will refund you or exchange - i am sure of that. If by some stupid chance they push back, open the bottle and get them to taste it - out of curiosity is it a screw top or cork?

Since learning what the problem was and the repair cost as it was all new news (of course) to the local Nissan guy around here. I decided not to pull it down (eng out) and just keep an eye on it...Sometime minor things are best left alone as there is always a risk of something else going wrong as a consequence of pulling things down.
I recon these Nissan Tech guys would go broke if they worked in their own workshops. I only let them do up to the 10,000 k service on mine as I was so disgusted in the half crap job they did in an attempt to fix my auto hubs "Not fix em". 8 wks they had veh for and they even went as far as doing a rebuild of the gearbox, what a joke. Sorted out myself. Do my own work/service.
Must say did have some joy last yr with Nissan as they replaced my 08 GU moon cratered dash. They supplied dash and I paid $700 install. But yes they damaged the plastic spool of the key reader (of course they say not) and they left screws out. I fixed the reader thank goodness (polyurethane adhesive) and I am sure they must have a massive drum of left over fasteners.

Just had a near miss!
Bloke coming down the road with a camper and as he took the bend his swing away came out and in my lane.
No where to go, Armco barriers each side and me waving me hands trying to point and do some kind of swing away charades.
He luckily saw me about 10m from my car and did a swerve which bought the arm back around a bit.
Was a pretty impressive move actually, bloody lucky!

I swore to myself that I was to refrain myself from posting in here in 2018 as it's supposed to be a good year, but fuck me! We awoke this morning at camp to find our brand new Weber bbq has been stolen! With the gas bottle too!
Absolutely pissed off, more to myself as I heard some russling around at about 4 am and I just thought it was a possum so I didn't get up to check. There goes $600.

Sent from my SM-G935F using TapatalkMerimbula caravan park. No cameras too. Stupid thing is where we camp there is easy access into the park via an open entry point from out side the park. We camp in the "ghetto", it's all people with tents, campers etc. Quite a bushy area though and our site is the largest in the park. But no money gets spent up this end of the park though. They have camera's everywhere else but here. And we hear every year of people getting stuff pinched.
Atleast it's one less thing I need to pack away when we come home. Lol.

I see this happen all the time, but today it really really tipped me over...
Supermarket checkout.
Long, peak-hour line. Everybody is hot and bothered, and people just want to pay for things, get out of there and go home.
This particular lady, in front of me, had the least amount of things on the conveyor. Throughout the whole wait, which is probably 5+ minutes, shes been doing whatever on the phone.
Finally, shes at the front. The checkout girl greets her. No response. Shes too busy with her face buried in her iPhones screen. My blood pressure rises...
After the girl scanned 3 or 4 of her items, she gives her the finally tally. No response. The girl has another go... And she finally looks up. "Oh how much?
The girl has to repeat it for the third time. My blood begins to boil...
Then, she begins to slowly rummage through her hand bag, all while her phone is still in her hand... Finally after around 20 seconds finds her wallet. Then the rummaging through the wallet begins. Another 20-30 seconds later oh she finds her card. Ooops Wrong card. That was her husbands depleted credit card, she informs everybody. NO sorry, no nothing. At this stage I am seeing red and ready for calamity.
Finally, we have redemption, she finds the right card. Payment is finalized.
But wait, it doesn't end there...
Then while she is still at the counter, she begins to slowly tuck the card away into the wallet. And then the wallet into the hand bag. Another 15-20 seconds...
I have a very short temper, but today I held back and said nothing. I just wanted to pay and go home...
Would you not, get your self organized and get cash or whatever ready prior to having to pay, instead of glueing your face to the screen???? You've only had 5 minutes in the queue. And after you've paid, move the f*** away and tuck your husbands cards away, let other people have a chance to pay for stuff!!!
This especially happens in drive throughs. People wait a while in their cars a while nudging forward, and only begin looking for cash at the very last moment.
What the f*** have you been doing for the past few minutes?!! Zoned out?!

I recently spent several hours taking $2 off folk for car parking at a festival. 95% of folk were friendly & appreciative of the service I gave, many took the time to have a bit of a yak, albeit briefly, some even offered me blueberries, strawberries, lollies etc. Most had their correct money ready. A few needed a few moments to find the money but yep there were a tiny minority who seemed totally oblivious to the world around them, so much so I wondered at times just why they had bothered coming & indeed how on earth they had managed to get there. These were the folk for whom a jovial & friendly greeting/welcome to the festival had no meaning whatsoever. Not sure if it was that they thought everything revolved around THEM, or just that they were huddled inside their own mentally constructed barricades like prisoners.

I had this sort of thing at a supermarket a few weeks back. There were the typical slow ass delays as this person couldn't move & breath at the same time. Then it came to paying. It looked like they were going to be $1 - $2 bucks short. I was all ready to give them the money just so they could get out of the checkout & could get the bloody hell out of that damn store.
Bloody people, they'd be OK if they weren't all people.

We should be happy not angry but I spose we can be happy the angry thread post count is behind the happy count unless we get angry over something trivial then the happy count will fall behind the angry count which might make happy members angry that the angry members aren't happy then the happymembers can't make angry members happy and get the happy count back in front of the angry count but... pffft... Ground Fault AGAIN THIS MORNING. Most likely Wallabies looking for moisture and chewing the wiring insulation of my PV (solar panels) wiring. Generated my own electriity (off-grid) and one of the Sunny Boy inverters (MPPT) is showing up a "ground fault" again this morning.
Bugger, thought it was moisture ingress from running gravity feed supplied water sprinklers to cool/wet the general area down as so hot here yesterday 41DegC (a fire prevention measure). While I was running the multi-meter over sys, the good lady noticed chew marks (lovely wallabies) thru the outer insulation of the flexible link cable. Lucky for the wallabies though that they mainly come out and play at night as these arrays can happily run at nom 380 and 420 vols o/c (series and parallel strings-6.1kW).. More mods but rather doing others though. A pic of PVs, wonder if they would fit on the GU

Why don't you have mechanical protection around the cables
Bidja
21st January 2018, 01:27 PM
The transmission lines are protected above ground except for the section that has been damaged. This section is a flexible link cable (1m length) that allow for free movement as the array frames track the sun (full east to west). Will replace cabling and run it through a length of thick walled flexible tubing and hook it up higher and hopefully out of easy reach.

Thanks for info mate.
The current install was done by an accredited installer (back in 2009), guess the quality control demonstrated in the installation could be representative as to why they are no longer in business. Have been stand alone since 1991 and back then there was only a small handful of suppliers/installers in country. I am grateful that all underground work and pump installation wiring was done near 30 yrs ago at a much higher standard of workmanship (remains fully serviceable).

This has been pissing me off for years.
I work from home sometimes. Other half comes home from work, walks in "Oh. nothing ready for tea" or "oh, the washing is still there" or something else. Totally ignoring the fact that I've been flat out working and just seeming to think I have time to do house duties as well as my 9-5 work simply coz I'm home. This happens regularly.
Other half works from home sometimes, not as often as me. Worked at home yesterday. I walk in, nothing ready for tea, washing still there. No mention about anything except how hard the day has been, decides to go out and excercise.
I don't care nothing is done or ready, what pisses me off is how I have to have things ready or completed but they don't and that point doesn't seem to be realised.
Thought about starting WW3 over it last night, but kept my mouth shut and just fumed all night and morning. If I mention anything tears start and a reasonable proper conversation can't be had, I end up being a prick coz I've upset them, so I just keep getting told off for doing what they do.
Work's giving me the sh55ts as well.

Got woken to multiple blasts of truck air horns, this morning. I had to quickly get dress and headed to the highway to see what was up. I walked a couple of hundred metres when a flock of ten of the mangiest looking, uncared for sheep run out of the roadside scrub.
Luckily, they ran into my neighbours driveway and I was able to shut the gate.
I walked down to his house and told him that he now had a the flock on his place. He had just got back very late last night from a 10 day trip. He took me to show me his vegie garden. The flock had gotten in from a neighbouring property into his place and decimated all of his vegies and his passion fruit vine, while he was away. I'm throwing stones, while living in a glass house, ( had a horse escape from a paddock when a family member left the gate open), but sheesh! To the new neighbour that owns the flock ; "Fix ya bloody fences!"

Stayed at a cheap $75 hotel/pub room on Monday night while at Taree. At about 3am the bloody fire alarms go off in our room and all the adjoining eight rooms. Woke us up OK and then switched off in about 5 minutes. No fire brigade attended. Back to bed. 20 minutes later same thing again and still no brigade attended. As from a number of years ago, it is a code requirement that all "hard wired" fire alarms be monitored via a fire alarm panel transponder, capable of notifying the fire brigade. I told the the hotel manager the next morning and his response was "Oh well, I'll have to get it checked". YES!

Ring the Ranger, they'll get the flock out of there!
Following a Kelly B Double yesterday, he braked and swerved way off to the left, half the vehicle off the road. He went around a flock of 10-12 geese that had got out of this charlie's farm & onto the highway.

This moron in a GU began tearing the sand up on his way out. People everywhere, families, kids, dogs, other blokes waiting their turn at the ramp.
On his way out he just went flat stick, sand flying all over the place digging wheel tracks as he went along...

Had to drive back from Adelaide to Melbourne in a thrifty 3t moving van. All because one of my workers forgot to load a pallet of goods onto a truck bound for Adelaide on Tuesday, so one of my colleagues had to drive over last minute with the goods yesterday, then I had to install the stand late at night, the he took my flight home and I had to drive the truck back. Long drive, and a bouncy one those trucks ride like crap when they are unloaded. I'm spewing because if I had everything there yesterday I might have been able to catch up with growlers (was gonna call you mate) and relax a little, instead it was 24 hours from hell.

I'm spewing because if I had everything there yesterday I might have been able to catch up with growlers (was gonna call you mate) and relax a little, instead it was 24 hours from hell.

if ya caught up with growlers it would have been alot more hours of painb

Don’t know too much me about that beautiful WA sand driving stuff mate but hear you should choose the twin cab Yota utes for their different axle widths/tracks. Huge fuel savings I’ve heard on the Vic-Grapevine:-)

3rd blow out on the 3rd car in 4 weeks. This last one was on Katrol, on the bitumen. Tyres are less than 12 months old. [emoji35]

I got mine from Beaurepairs and paid $15 for insurance on each wheel , made my money back three weeks later when I staked the side wall ruining the tyre , did have to pay $15 for insuring the new tyre and fitting about $65 but the tyre was close to $400 .
Other bonus is all flats fixed for free .

Geez Kat, looks like whatever it was went thru the weakest part of the tyre. Are these Wrangler MTR's? Critical part of the tyre there, bloody pain, feel for you. Did you remember hitting anything?

we had good years on new Jackaroos . did not even get them out of warranty before they failed .
I had to carry the back full of spares to go anywhere. changed to BFG just fixed the problem .
tyres are no fun ...... grrrrrr

I know there was a period in the late '80's when the Goodyear wranglers were going thru all sorts of problems. I bought mine ages ago on the tech spec with the kevlar and silica compound. I admit mine are now getting on, probably 8-10mm tread depth, but have flogged them at times and always got home. ast trip out of the caledonia valley i shredded quite a few lugs, so am now looking at replacing with BFG KM2, but the terrain/rocks did the damage, couple perhaps with my driving urgency. Sometimes you can be plain unlucky I reckon, like when I put a 2" rock right thru the centre on the tread on a Bridgestone desert dueller in the Flinders - 2500klm old - reckon I was dirty!

Yeah. It's just bad luck, I guess. I like them as a tyre.

Got unlucky with a tyre going into Burgoynes gap on Wed. Track chopped up and put a sharp rock thru the shoulder, unfortunately on a steep section, tried to drive to a flatter bit, but no air, then airbag blew its inflating hose, so it was a winch of about 80m to a spot where the tyre could be changed - Goodyear MTR kat - looks like thats 2 incidents in a short period - who is next??? Up for 74388a new rim as well.

Not angry but, I dunno.
I entered a raffle on a JD collectors page two weeks ago for a very, very rare bottle of JD. Etched glass, in gold. Only 500 ever made, worldwide. The raffle is drawn by using the tattslotto numbers drawn and the second supp wins and you can either choose your number or ask for a random number, i asked for a random. Well I won. But, another member of said page had also purchased a ticket and actually asked for the the number, that was given to me and won. Prior to me buying a ticket. So after some discussions, I have agreed it should go to the other person. But fark. It it would have gone nice on my shelf.
