The danger, apart from the tow balls bit, is if you snatch a vehicle backwards down a soft sand dune, it may skew as it comes over and roll down on top of you. These guys are doing so many things wrong it's hard to understand how they survive. They also have the snatch strap doubled so the cars are closer together as there isn't enough ground for a straight run with full strap out.

My first ever work trip to the great WA state was back in the early 90's. Half way through the job we had a container delay from floods on the Nullabor so took that chance to visit Rotty. Amazing place it was but somber as some Schoolies of sorts had just played Quokka Soccer the day before our arrival. There was talk I believe of the WA Police wanting to hand it over to the WA equivalent of Parks-Vic/DSE Rangers as the fine was something like $50k a possibility through their laws. Beaut place, beaut animals, beaut fauna !!

Not even sure if this is the right place to post this. Just saw a video of my grandson and his mates 4WDing in the sand hills on Fb over the weekend. Half way in is a Landcruser stuck on the top of a sand dune, sitting on the transfer case with front and back wheels off the ground. My grandson to the rescue with his Landcruser. Snatch strap from tow ball to tow ball and snatch him backwards down hill. Shit I just can’t believe it after what I have said trying to help. But I’m just an old fart that doesn’t know how to have fun. I would put it up but I don't know how to cut the bit out of the middle of the video, and I'm sure you guys don't want to watch three hoons wrecking sand dunes for half an hour.

Show him a few photos of ppl with a towball imbedded in their skull,
Im sure he'll change his tune. He really needs to see what can happen.

Could be worse , you have gastro no toilet , just a shovel and paper , you urgently wander off into the dark , dig a hole and commence unloading only to find three quarters of the way thru that the hole you dug was smack on top of those really nasty sting like all Jesus jumping jacks nest .
Yes the really big suckers and they climb your leg and let you know there not happy with the invasion to their privacy and not happy with your No 2 habits or their freshly excavated home .
And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse a 4wd turns a corner with high beams and spots and there's you , pants down , being stung like no tomorrow and your stranded in the headlights not knowing which way to run , much like a stunned rabbit .

Gave my body a nice cleansing river bed gravel rub down and laid in bed until morning in the fetal position.

Then said goodbye to the NP members and drove 4 hours home in agony...lol

Well AB at least I didn't ( much) soil my pants so yours wins .
Although after back surgery 8 years ago while in hospital 2 days after surgery high as a kite on the good stuff , they became concerned I might be a bit blocked so they gave me some funny tasting crap in a small cup .
After about 20 mins I had to buzz the nurse as nature was calling so still hooked up to pain machine and drip they helped me into the toilet .
Had one of those handicapped style raised dunny seat frames above the normal toilet and it was about 150 mm higher , after having about three clearance sales and starting on the fourth there was a knock on the door " you ok in there " yep no problem .
About 5 mins later another knock " you ok in there , were moving you to another room would you like some help " no no I yelled I will be out in a minute , I'm still affected by whatever the hell they gave me but thought hey closer to the front door so stood up slowly and managed to turn round to get at the loo paper and to my horror I had sprayed that 150 mm gap with brown paint , complete the way around .
Now the smell was one thing and the mess another but absolutely no matter how hard I tried couldn't reach the dunny paper to save my life , Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh nurse .

Since we are talking shit... On the Border Track trip with my now-defunct fourby club, I too copped a dose of the trots. It was also a moonless night. I had to race to the dunnies and didn't quite make it. Oh it sprayed everywhere then the lights went out.

The other thing I remember about that trip to the Murray near Echuca was my brother in law testing out his new boat with fish finder depth sounder , we spent a few days going backwards and forwards checking depth etc until we came upon one spot and the depth was indicating 50 ft .
He was pissed off because he spent all that money and his fancy fish finder was rooted , we did a circuit or two of the area and depth went from 12 to 50 feet so we tied up on some tree roots at a steep bank the depth showing 50 feet so we knew it was bullshit .
But decided to have a fish anyway , cast out as far as we could and line ended up straight down , so opened the bail arm and let the line go and bugger me it was actually that deep , caught two 60-70 cm Cod within 15 minutes .
Both had the swim bladder sticking out the mouth .

I just spent 10 days in Bali and on day 4 I came down with a bad case of Bali Belly. After a couple of days of agony I posted on here for advise and was told charcoal tablets were the way to go, I tried them and thought I was cured as I was fine for about 6hrs but then it started again worse than before and it did not matter what I tried it did not get better. I then visited a doctor over there and was given $90 worth of medication that made no difference.
On our last day we had to be out of the villa by 11am and our flight was at 10.40pm so we had a lot of time to kill. There were 7 of us so we decided to pay for a minivan with driver for the day and go and see some temples and other sites, after a couple of hours I started to get the tummy rumbles and stomach cramps so thought I should find a toilet quick. I went into a toilet at the temple we were visiting and was confronted with a very unwelcome site, the floor had about 10mm of liquid on it with some floaties, the toilets had no seats, were dirty and there was no toilet paper. As badly as I needed to go I could not go there so when we got back into the minivan I said to the driver that we needed to find a public toilet, he drove for a few kms and stopped out the front of a minimart and said there would be a toilet at the back of the store so I went in and found the door at the back and opened it to find three staff members eating there lunch and a half door beside them with a toilet behind it, even though I was in excruciating pain by then I could not have a big loud shit next to these guys eating there lunch. Got back into the minivan and went to another temple and headed for the toilet armed with lots of tissues which were needed as again there was no paper, went to one of the toilets and hovered over so I would not have to sit on other peoples shit and exploded into the bole.
I think I will stick to western countries for future overseas trips.

Farking hot heads and their parents.
My son had a practice match today and the other team is sour because they have beaten them many times over the last few years, but have lost twice in the Grand Final.

I bit of push n shave during the game pretty normal for under 17s.
End of the game most players on both sides give each other a hand slap and all make there way to the center to meet with their coaches.

One dickhead from the other team just had to say something to one of our boys and of coarse he answered back and it was on, 40+ 15/16 year olds. I normally don't get involved, but when I saw my son being pushed out of the pack my one of his teammates and he was fighting back to get back in the pack, I made my way over, pinned him against the wall and said to him"what the f@*k are you doing fighting with your teammate to get back in there. Walk that way with the rest of your team".
Once all claim he told me that he got punched just above the eye from behind placed in a headlock and dropped to the ground. By the time he got up he was full of rage.

Next they meet is going to be interesting....

Now that's out of my system, off to the happy thread.

A few week ago..... more like a month now :( Though I would do a spark plug change as it has a miss and has been sitting for years unloved......had 2 do a few other things things for blue slip but snapped a spark plug tried 2 easy it out but snapped the tip of the easy out in the bore, so organised my local mechanic 2 try and get it out without removing the head and understandably he had few big jobs on and had 2 clear some room in his yard 2 park mine up as it can't be started now, so today was the day.....was meant 2 get picked up, Got home at 5pm and it was still in the driveway and no phone call from mechanic, no drama's... I'll ring him 2morrow... get a phone call from mechanic at 5.30ish, tow truck is leaving from a few suburbs up from you he will be there soon, no drama's..... had an appointment at 6.30 down the road so left at 6.15pm, got home at 7.15pm....... Patrols still sitting there :(

If you paid by credit card your bank may be able to help. Give them a call and they may be able to reverse the charge, or could have insurance for this. Depends on how long ago you paid.

I can live with a half reno'd house. I did that for 12 years in the last place. The extra we had borrowed, was to only just cover the important works. Its just the stuff that really needs to be done, looks like we can't. Hopefully I get a call tomorrow from the broker saying there was an error elsewhere and we have the funds.

I had the same thing happen to me when I moved in to my current house 12 years ago, told the bank I wanted 25K available to draw to do some additions and they f@#ked up.
When I told them they should sort it out they told me I would need to re-apply for a new loan and pay a fee but I was to pig headed to do that so ended up having to wait a few years before I could get my shed and veranda.

My Stepson has had his bank account emptied by some thieving scum. It was only $900, but it was hard earned money he was saving for a new car. The unbelievable part is how this scum got his money. They walked into the ANZ bank branch at Cloverdale in Perth, with no ID and no Debit card etc and were able to impersonate him and empty his account through an actual bank teller. They have apparently answered his security questions and were not required to sign any forms and the money was handed over. Unbelievable!

The Missus spent hours at the bank and Police station filing reports etc. The cops say it will take them 2-3 weeks to get access to the banks video footage and then they will show the stepson the pictures to see if he recognises the thief. I am stunned at the lack of security by a bank branch in identifying someone is actually who they say they are. He has no idea how they got any of his info, so hopefully it will come to light when we can see the pics.

I hope whoever served the thief in the bank has some additional training or is moved on if all of the above is true, very least they should have had to provide 2 forms of ID.

Yep, us along with the cops were stunned at how easily they have done it. The bank employee that spoke to the missus, says not everyone has ID when they lose their wallet you know! LOL, couldn't believe that little gem!
The bottom line is whoever it was somehow knew his security question answers. He is adamant he has never told anybody and can't remember what the questions are himself. We will hopefully get to the bottom of it in a few weeks time. The cops reckon they have to apply to ANZ head office in Victoria to get access to the video footage and it takes time. I am thinking it must be someone he knows, but this is only speculation at the moment.

So we have been in the new joint for nearly three weeks. We arrived to see a big pile of rubbish on the nature strip. The realestate agent said the owner has organised the council to pick this up. We said the council wont take all of this as they will only take 1 cubic metre and theres about 5. The agent said to us to not worry he will get it sorted, if they dont take it all. Well the council took bugger all. As I thought. Now its been a chit fight and numerous phone calls a day to try and sort this out.

As the ruling stands, any thing that isn't bolted down, has to go. The owners left two big desks, that were in each bedroom, I just cut them in half and threw them off the balcony and they smashed when the landed. And added these to the pile of crap they left. Plus around 20 picture frames were left here. Not to mention many other things.
We actually took from the pile a old two seater lounge and a old wooden work bench too. So this technically made their pile smaller. What we have added, which should have been there in the first place does not even equate to a 1/4 of what we took.
Also, prior to us taking the keys, I was on the phone to the agent and she was with the owner, and the owner said, '"does he want me to get rid of all the bluestone here?". I said yes, he said ok. Well this is still here too. Then there is a pile a half buried rubbish I found down beside the carport...

So my last call with the agent was, they are not going to do anything as they said the two desks were attached to the walls. I said to the agent I must be Conan then as I simply just lifted them away from the wall. And then I said to the agent to remind the owner that he said he would get rid of the bluestone. So if they want to argue this further I will make home come back and remove these massive blocks by hand. And also all the half buried crap I have found. Plus I have quite a few letters addressed to this turkey that I will hold for ransom until this crap has gone.
The stories I have herd about this guy from the neighbors here too. It does not surprise me that this is happening.

But, a good thing I have discovered is the neighbors. So bloody nice they are. The second day here, one came over and introduced himself. A few days later he comes over again with his wife and a bottle of wine. Then a day later another neighbor does the same. Then another. Wow! I am gobsmacked! We've had a great chat with all of them, all of them are really nice and welcoming. Funny part is, they are all retired and grand parents. As we have discovered, every house around us and more is the same, and they have all been here since the early 70's since the place was built.

So. Tomorrows job is to take photo's on the buried rubbish and bluestone for the agent. Then the gloves go back on. Ding! Ding!

Could it have been set up between the teller and the person withdrawing the cash?

They would have to be an awfully stupid teller I think. There will be good video footage of it I would expect, and any teller would be aware of that.

We thought of the phishing scam also, but this is generally done to withdraw your money online. We may never find out the whole story, but we are hopeful they will identify and catch the prick. Not overly concerned about the money as we are 99% sure it will be reimbursed, but it would be an issue if it the money was being relied on, as it will take time for the banks fraud department to clear it.

Spot on MB , got nothing against the Lycra clad morons but wish some roads were bike free , it's an accident waiting to happen .
Also a few idiot drivers around who swerve onto your side of the road to go around a bike instead of waiting for you to go past first , my dashcam must have 50 images of exactly this .
Maybe they could introduce registration for bikes on certain roads and see if that doesn't stop them using dangerous roads .

As mb photo shows, there's roads around our area that cyclists should not use for leisure riding. 80km speed limit, tight road, heavy tourist and logging route along with blinding corners.

So sad AB, and I can't understand why that incident didn't shake the local council/Vic Roads up enough to ban cycling here for safety reasons as Robert suggests! What's also frustrated us locals and the truckers Robert is that some careless idiot of a cycling magazine journalist gave this stretch of highway a top 5 rating some years ago foolishly quadrupling the amount of riders today. Absolute brainless twit for falsely recommending it so highly!!!!!

I also can't understand why if a vehicle is doing more than 20kmph less than the legal speed limit then apparently they are breaking the law I was lead to believe? If so, then why can a cyclist travel on this 80kmph hilly winding highway at say 5-10kmph and be legal, go figure????

As mudski says you are supposed to pass keeping a metre clear , so on a road with double unbroken lines you legally can't pass as that would put at least one wheel over the line .
But if you don't pass traffic backs up tempers flare and mistakes are made .

Agreed Mark, and in the situation of idiots going off track 4wdriving and leaving rubbish behind I totally agree they make us all look bad. This particular cycling situation on extremely dangerous roads should be fully banned on this stretch and many others much the same as the Widowmaker at Wonnangatta Station was excavated to impossible and legally closed off for safety reasons years back. Unfortunately it also took deaths to raise awareness and action!

If it smells like gear oil then, yes. The axle seal will need replacing and it is a bit of a job to do. If it is just a bit of grease, then that may indicate too much grease has been used.
MudRunnerTD has posted a sticky thread about the job.

The saga continues: This prick has basically stolen his identity and has now scored a new iPhone from Optus, they went into an Optus store and got it over the counter. They have also tried opening an account with Flexi-rent, this one was declined.
He has had to organise for a credit report to be sent to him and sign up for 12 months of credit alerts, so everytime someone makes an enquiry on his credit record, he will be notified.
It turns out that they have his old drivers license which was stolen about 4 or 5 months ago. We asked the bank manager how someone who is obviously not him can use his license to withdraw his money. She replied that not everyone looks like their license picture FFS! You would think bank staff would be trained to be a bit more suspicious. The story changes every time we talk to them, but the bottom line is he still doesn't have his money back and this thieving prick is running around racking up debt in his name.

It's going to be a bit of an ongoing saga I think and hopefully we have caught it early enough and it doesn't do too much damage to his credit rating!

Fully tightened up, still around 2-3mm movement around the pipe. It was advertised as 48mm for ARB bar and my bar is 48mm... But no way in hell will these tighten up. Very annoying.
Maybe if I pack it with something.

I'd just use a 1-2mm thick rubber strip around the bar and under the clamp, I've had a few clamps that need this on the ARB Bar over the years. Annoying but easily solvable at least. A piece of old pushbike tube or something similar will do the trick.

We just received a letter from the council saying they had done a house inspection on the property back in February, before we bought the place, and have listed a few drainage issues, with the house, carport and bungalow. No point in ringing the council, they won't budge. The letter is addressed to us so they know whats going on. We are ringing our conveyancer tomorrow, for the second major issue, the first is our missing 41k, to see if they can sort this out. As the way I see it, I should not have to pay for the storm water repairs, as we did not own the property until March, and as I said, no mention of this in the section 32 and also at the auction.

Hey Mark sorry to hear about your dramas - what department from council sent you the letter?

I'd still give them a call and try to appeal for leniency, the fact that the letter was addressed to you does not necessarily mean they know you moved in recently, just that's the address their data base gave them to send a letter -- it's pretty poor to expect a new owner to complete works within 60 days without any prior discussion. Feel free to give me a call to chat more

Nathan I have no idea, the wife has taken the paperwork with her to work so she can discuss it with the conveyencer. I did see in all the paperwork a letter head addressed to the old owners though...
If we have no legal leg to stand on and we are forced to pay for this, then I will ring the council. Just looking around at what the council has listed that isn't there, and should be, and needs to be attended too, it look like some of them have been fixed. As one on the list was the downpipe spout on the rear awning, as they called it, was not connected to the storm water. And a half arsed attempt for the down pipe on the front of the house which i have already fixed properly myself. I just checked the rear pipe and it is, and looks to be fairly new piping there. So I think the old owner knew of this letter, but as usual, was just too lazy to do anything about it.
So the fight (another fight) begins. Ready for round three.
I swear if i see this cock snot in the street I will kick him in the nuts!

More shit to deal with. Seriously I've had a feckin nuff! If its not the wifes car playing up and costing money, its issues with the old owners of this house!

When we bought out place the carport out the front was approved by council, the owners got it built but it was never signed off on from council so basically was no longer council approved. We wanted it approved before purchase so the owners paid the fees for council 2 come out......

They came out one afternoon just before I got home from work and where only meant 2 inspect the carport but for some reason invited themselves in and where in the backyard when I got home, got told the carport off the garage out the back needed guttering as well as the tin shed and a metal enclosure which sits up against the shed all into a 600mmn trench with gravel ag pipe etc into an overflow drain, from memory the owners where willing 2 pay half for that 2 be done and transferred us the money.

Never ended up getting it done..... the solicitor rang a few months later saying council asked her if we had it done and I told her no and it ain't going 2 happen, been here for 5 years now and haven't heard a thing from council.

Our carport is still not approved even nothing was wrong with it but they would not approve it until the guttering was done out back..... go figure.

Get the conveyancer 2 try with the owners 2 fit the bill if that don't work just wait and see what happens.

Not sure what your council is like but ours is pretty damn assholes

We had dramas with the pool and fencing. The pool had all the appropriate permits, but because we added the decking around 2 sides of the pool it needed to be done again. Council wanted us to provide everything but didn't want to help. The one and only engineer that was half willing to help wanted to see the concrete that was used in most of the 30+ holes, type of timber and depth of holes.
After all the sh!t that we went through on that place I wasn't going to spend $1000s to give it to someone else. All was disclosed in the contract buyer was happy to buy it unconditionally.

Having said that I would have thought that the conveyor would have picked something up Mark.

I know that my brother in law built a shed attached to the garage and as big as well and just ignored everything from council until a inspector showed up and asked for $400 and that was the last of it, that was about 5 years ago.

This notice from the council isn't mentioned in the section32 so the conveyencer would have no way of knowing. Plus this inspection was only done three days prior to auction. And the owner knew of this. So my guess is the owner thought to just ignore it and not say anything....
So here's where I'm at....

Fight 1. Me Vs old owner and agent in regards to left over rubbish on the nature strip and left over rubbish in and around the house - Win for me. Scored a large skip to fill so I went gang busters and filled it. Still left overs here but I'm relatively happy with the outcome.
Fight 2. Me Vs Mortgage broker on where our lost 41k is. - Haven't heard boo from him all week. I will be ringing him shortly after I open a new bottle of Jack. Lol.
Fight 3. Me Vs old owner and council about the said storm water drainage issues. - The conveyencer has been emailed all the relevant info, they are looking into it.

I fell like starting fight 4 at the moment with the neighbor who called the council in the first place, but I suppose they just assumed the old owners would fix it and not leave it.

Unless you were told prior to auction of councils request to fix the items the sellers are at fault , if the realestate company selling were also aware they are also negligent .
Non disclosure of this sort of thing is on the contract for sale that they signed , I'm not sure they can wriggle out of it by saying that when they signed it wasn't known , they knew before the sale and withheld the information .
I'm sure you can get free advice , try the realestate institute or law council of Victoriastan.

Correct.
That's why we had to disclose the issue with the pool/decking.
It cost us time and selling at a lower price but no headaches then or now.

Fark me! Last week I had rung three local businesses to come around and give me quotes on all the plumbing work that has been noted on the council inspection notice and you think one of them has called me? We need to get quotes so we have something to forward to a lawyer to see if its worth pursuing or not.
And for our missing 41k. The broker sent me a spreadsheet of all the goings on since we first started this thing of selling and buying. In a nutshell. Its all squared up and theres no money for me. But he still couldn't answer my question of what would have happened if I didn't borrow the extra 35k plus 6k from my business account to make up the short fall of the deposit we got from the sale of our place to make up for the purchase of the new place. To which I need to pay back.
So I want to take this further and get some outside assistance but having a bank account right now of less than 1k, I need to feed the family. Plus who would I go to anyway? The thought has crossed my mind to of selling my Patrol so I can get some stuff done.

On the flip side. I still do NOT regret buying this place.

Son was driving to work on Monday morning. Got hit by an uninsured unlicensed driver.

Car is written off. He has 4 jobs, all casual so if he doesn't work he doesn't make money. Now he has no f'ing car to get to any f'ing job.

Now we have to help him find a car and organise money, he makes enough $$$s for food & rent and a few beers each week.

These pricks should be put in the shit for stuff like this. We're innocent and this f'wit ran into him and now we have fork out for another f'ing car.

What can I get for $5000.00????????

I feel your anger 10G .
Did your son have insurance? Can you go through them, pay the excess which would be considerably less then the price of a whole car maybe ? And then they chase the other maggot for $?

Not angry but sad,

Just got back from my Uncle's funeral, he passed away the other week. He battled with health issues over the last few years one which was throat cancer recently which required him getting a voice box. He was doing really well only 2 pass away what we assume a heart attack :(:(:(

I'm really sorry about that mate. We get on here and have a whinge, but really most of it is nothing when you compare what others have suffered through. I hope the sadness passes away quickly.

It doesn't. I was just letting 10G know what we got locally. We bought privately as all the stealers have jacked up their prices because of the distances from the big smokes. I shoulda used the Reply With Quote.

It takes a lot of life experience and a clear head to realise that there are lots of people out there worse than you , all the same don't keep trouble to yourself , amazing what a yak about what's happening can help sometimes .

So I rang the Insurance mob abd they said they will pay us out and we get to dispose of the car. It'll be listed as a write off. I've done some reading and there are 2 types of write offs. Ones that you just cannot un-write off (statutory) and ones you can un-write off (repairable), mine will be the latter.

I've read that I can and can't drive the vehicle and that it may or may not be entered into the Written Off Vehicle Register (WOVR). If it's not entered, I can get it fixed at my leisure and drive it, but I cannot sell it registered to someone else.

Anyway, I'm going to call Vicroads and find out tomorrow. Either way I'm going to have to get the bloody thing home from 4 hours away.

May its what the thread is there for. A vent, an open thread.
Imo we all deal with stuff in different ways.
Sure one persons issue may not be as pressing as someone elses but hell were all human and need to relive built up stress.

Post away i say..

But sorry to hear of your loss. Its not nice when someone is doing well out of a illness only to be struck by a different one.

I don't think this is a good or a healthy attitude. Somebody will always have it worse, but it doesn't make your problems any better or make any of your hurt feel less.
Sorry for your loss Todd, there has to be some good luck coming your way soon.

Looks like I will be looking for full time work soon and closing the shop. The last two recent events have taken its toll emotionally and monetary, particularly the first as I had to use business funds to fix the fark up from the broker which had pretty much sent the business bust and it wont be able to recover from it.
So buy up big on the make an offer sale!!! I need to get rid of this stock.
