I'm not angry, I'm pissed off! For some reason my Win8.1 work laptop decided to download and run updates! Even though I turn this off. (Seems a few have had this had with 8.1. Low and behold Micro$oft had release a baulked update which inturn makes your pc get stuck installing the update, then when you decided to reboot it loops at a message saying "We couldn't complete the updates undoing changes". No worries, I'll just hit F9 and get into safe mode and uninstall the updates. Nope! I'll do a system restore then. Negative! It gets stuck in a loop doing that! From what I can tell, my only option is to do a full factory restore. Not what I really need on this laptop as I do all my online sales and reports on this.
Might be a busy weekend for me.

Hodge
29th January 2016, 08:06 PM
That's similar to the "update loop", that happened for those who decided to download the technical preview of the Windows 10. Which was offered through the update direct from Microsoft from windows 7 and 8.
Then later on if you didn't update W10 from the preview to a full version, and you missed a certain date.... game over. Only fix is full format and restore.
I know cause it happened to me lol. Not on an important computer luckily...

Edit:

Stupid question Mark. What in the fark are you doing using W8 in the first place. That is like Vista-fail V2.0

Because i can put 7 on it. The drivers wont work. No point changing to 10 as i have read thats not any better than 8. Just looks a bit different.

Can run it off a USB stick too.
Very popular when Windows breaks, boot up Ubuntu of a USB stick to recover files .

Not much of a problem to run wires, but there is couple of things that I have nfi where they go.

When you say "wired to your spotlight wiring" do you mean they share a common positive connection (probably not a problem)? Or do you mean the UHF only works when the spotlights are on (probably not ideal...)?

What suburb are you in? Feel free to start a thread with any relevant photos or wire colours used. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

The UHF wires are sliced into the spotties.

Do you know if the spotties are running through a relay?

If they are, then it's fine for both the spotties and UHF to share a power source.

If they're not, they should be regardless of the UHF wiring).

Sorry to hear your bad luck. Years ago I backed my non Nissan 4x4 into my garage with the flap type rear door open. Took out the garage light and the glass in the door. Also blew all the house fuses and nearly caused an electrical fire. Long fight between the house insurance co and the car insurance co to decide who would pay for what. In the meantime I had to foot the repair bill.

You might need to put the handle of a 10" shifter in the hinge and tweak it back in position.
Ive done this on my other 4x4 after the wind rips the door out of your hands and it over opens

Only trivial, I know, but I went for a drive out to Mt Richmond National Park. The road that leads from the Airport to the mountain has been "upgraded". The grade of limestone is chunky as, and has turn what was once a pleasurable to drive into a bone-jarring prick. On top of that, the tracks I used to do easily are now over grown as all buggery.
I don't mind a bit of pin striping, but I now have small dings in most panels. I gotta let someone in the CFA, about the state of the tracks.

BAGUETTES??? Clunky not you too?? You're as Aussie as they get! I had this very arguement with the mrs on the weekend. For all my life they were called french sticks and then all of a sudden now they're "Baguettes"??? Please.......give me a break.

P.S. IMO they make 'em cheap and charge a motza. They never used to become javelins in 24 hours.

Hahaha I was just thinkin 'since when do we call em baguettes?! They used to be French sticks back in my day ' [emoji13]

Yeah thats a weird one, but one pronounciation that is getting more and more prevalent in this country is the word route pronounced as "rowte" not "root" as it always has been, just because it might sound rude. C'MON!! I dont hear people talking about tree "rowtes"! Bloody nongas killing me here.

TD yep i spent time as a kid in Tongala where the Nestle factory (always called "Nessels" to the locals) was the main claim to fame. Haha yep is a small town (we also won the Goulburn Valley Football League grand final in 1981!!), but which splat-head came up with ness-lay?? If that's how its pronounced in whatever European country its from then good on em but it was always "Nessles" in Australian accent. Not now though unfortunately.

Lol. I remember doing the same last year to two buyers. A big brain fart moment. anyway it turned out to be quite funny, one item was $160, the other $70. The buyer of the $70 got the $160 and vice versa. The $70 buyer knew what he got and still in good faith told me of the mess up and was all good about it. Sent it back and I expressed him the right part. The other guy, who paid $160 and only got the $70 item, didn't say boo. Weird. His was express too and I hadn't heard from them for over a week.
So I contact him, he replies he never got the item. SO I contact Aus Post, he's signed for it. AP send me a copy of the signature, it looks like the guys name, the buyer says it wasn't him. I said o.k you now need to go to the police station and sign a stat dec and email to me so a police investigation can start. I called his bluff...
Never heard from him since. Then, three month later the same guy orders the exact same parts from me and pays $160 again! I sent him a note in the parcel asking him to send back the incorrect parts from three months ago and I'll give him a refund. Still nothing.
I had to laugh about it. I messed up, I tried to resolve the issue. The buyer thought he'd be smart and get a freebie, it didn't work and he ended up paying twice.

The amount of times people try things on me is amazing.
A person bought a heater fan resistor from me. Then sent me a message saying its failed after two days and he wants warranty without posting the old one back. He said he doesn't have too. Haha! He also mistakenly said, this is the second one thats failed in a month. I said well there is obviously an issue somewhere else causing this and you will need to get this sorted by an auto elec. And for him to post the dud one back. He finally did, but sent me his original one, and it was covered in dust and the factory build date stamped on the unit was out of line with all my other resistors.
I told him this, showed him a photo of his dud one covered in dust and said there is no way this resistor can get this amount of dust on it just from two days of use, plus the stamped numbers. I said to post the one I sent back and I will refund you. Guess what happened? No response.
I even now mark some items with a pen so you can only see it under a black light. Just to cover myself.

Should have left my car there and just sat out in the bushes in my ghillie suit a few nights with a hurley, waited for the prick to come back.

D!ckheads on the roads.

I was driving on an on ramp to get into a freeway steadily building up speed, got along side of a BA wagon and he decides that a 4wd isn't going to pass him, so he pushes a little, so do I. The ramp is a long bend and as soon as you straighten up there are a couple of big ditches that make any car unstable. I glanced at my speedo 120 the other driver had no intention of backing off. Knowing the road ahead I did.

Worst part is the driver wasn't a young guy, would've had to be in his mid-last 50s.

Telstra yet again. We have recently moved so need to get the internet connected at the new place. Originally it was going to be 5 weeks from the relocation request. I called and had it moved to today. So they were suppose to be here between 8am and 12pm. So I have been off work for half a day now and I get a text saying they have moved my appointment to 1pm to 5pm cos they were busy this morning.

Whats adds to it also is I am an optus customer but optus need telstra to come and hook it up. Wtf grrr

Remove the hard drive and get a 2.5inch hard drive adaptor so you can plug it in to a desktop zo you can access everything on the hard.
Lessen learned. Also spend a few dollars and get some cloud storage so you just store all your photos and files in the "cloud". Or atleast buy a portable hard drive and store everything on this.

Idiot Drivers - took the car for a leisurely spin through the local forest, had a couple of grand-kids on board.
On a sweeping right hand bend I see a black ute coming down the hill about 300 meters away all over the road practicing his drifting.
The closer he gets the more I slow and move off the road, he doesn't react to me at all. About 50 meters away I'm yelling at the kids to get ready for a crash as this guy is completely sideways and drifting towards me.
At the last minute he sees me and I could see the look of panic on his face, I'm sure it was more good luck than good driving but he missed me I'm still not sure how.

Bad enough to find all the crap dumped in the forest but to have to put up with morons who endanger their own and others lives is just not on.
Could have posted in the happy thread I suppose, anyway no one harmed but the kids did hear some language they haven't heard (from me anyway) before.
