It was my 13th snowboarding season. It was short and remembering.
I had a collision with another snowboarder on the hillside. He was behind my back and I didn't see him.
Then, road to the hospital, 2 hours of surgery under local anesthesia and now I'm a Terminator on 0.01 %.

Whilst camped down at Burgoynes on the stretcher with just a mosquito net due to the heat, a small bat managed to get itself tangled up 'inside' the net at about 3am - scared the crap out of me. Unsure if i would get some incurable disease if I got bitten so had to sort it out by torchlight and gingerly untangle it - flew away, heading in the direction of Yarra Glen I believe.

Australian bat lyssavirus (ABLV) is a virus that can be spread to humans by the saliva of infected bats when the saliva comes in contact with mucous membranes or broken skin, or through bat bites or scratches. Infection with ABLV causes a rabies-like disease in humans that is usually fatal.

So...
End of October 2017, thought I would help out a 'mate'.
He has a Hilux, rear tyres were baby bum smooth, fronts had bad camber wear, as in bald outsides bordering on cord and belt protrusion with insides at over 50% tread.
At the time I was selling a set of 4 new looking steel rims with good tyres, for $250 (selling at a loss), as we needed the money and they were only spares.
He was keen, said he wanted them.
I used my tools, swapped all 4 wheels for him, loaded the old rims and tyres in the back.
I said he could have them for $200 (taking more of a loss) and he was happy with that and would pay me over the next 3 or 4 pays (he gets paid weekly).
I said ok, thought I was doing the right thing.
In November (about 2 weeks later) he came around and gave me $50.
That's it, no money since.
Have asked/mentioned it multiple times, but never get a response, or the subject gets changed...
What's more is I advertised the old rims and tyres for him (to busy at work aparrently), which got interest, referred the interested buyers to him, and find out he sold them for $150 a couple of weeks ago...
Was I right in helping him out?
Am I wrong for being s#!&@% about it?
Getting sick of mentioning it and asking him about it, but could use the money.

20mins after the kids normally would get off the bus I ring the school asking what is going on, only 2 be told the bus had broken down around the corner from the school and 2 teachers where waking down 2 bring them back and could I go 2 the school and pick them up.... yep on my way..... pass the the teachers walking with no kids and asked where is the bus and my kids...... Ummm we don't know where it or they are its suppose 2 be on this street, did you not see a broken down bus..... NO!
Got 2 the school and said what the hell is going on, I just past the 2 teachers with no kids and they have no idea where the bus or kids are. So a phone call from the school 2 the bus company only 2 find out the kids are on route and getting dropped off.

$1300 bill coming in Monday to replace all the exhaust manifold studs that cost me the same pharkin 12months ago by a workshop that is now gone and who put all wrong manifold studs in! Also seems they didnt machine the manifold which the @#$%& charged me for. Turbo checked out fine though :)
Also the belt tensioner that i put in 12 mths ago that ended up not need replacing has now siezed. Glad i kept the old one.
Positive i spose is I may not sell it now as its cost me too much to give the bloody thing away. Id recently dropped the price and have now bumped it back up 1k and will hold firm on the price

$1569.40 pharkin $$$$$$$$$. Unreal! They had to redo the outright dodgy job o replacing the manifold studs the @#$% at ABBA mechanical did. Wrong diameter, wrong length. They couldnt get a snapped stud out last time so the dodgy @#$%& drilled and tapped the pharker! needless to say the thing came loose. The studs that were wrong ie the smooth part of the stud that the manifold sits on was too long so it never went tight home 100%. If they were still in business I'd take the studs and press em down the eye of his cock!

No wonder they shut access off to those who care.
Dropped off into Lake Eucumbene(NSW) for fish of the evening rise after being further up the mnts for a couple of days.
Some hoooones must have been stuffing around attempting to defeat nature and of course sunk down into a soak and got bogged (near waters edge). Must of been "Oh what a feeling" DkHds.
Left behind two star picket sticking out of the ground (700mm) and in front was a rectangular hole for the wheel drop-in anchor (big hole). And of course beverage empties all over.
Serious accident waiting to happen (Human, vehicle or animal).
They probably only ever visit once. Me not happy, I poke around there at night (no well defined track) and my head light do not look around corners.
Will take back the star picket remover. Spoils a good low stress time.

Looks like they are doing a footpath condition survey. We had a ute fitted out with cameras point in every direction come down out street about 6 months ago - they were surveying the roadway. Shortly after that they resurfaced only our roadway and one around the corner. The council also came around and surveyed the footpaths for wheelchair bumps and then ground down the lumpy bits, but didn't see anyone on a bike like this.

Nothing to do with speed cameras, this would have most likely been your local council’s contractor undertaking “footpath asset inspections”. This information is then fed back into an asset system which would determine which areas require maintence / replacement works based on level of defects indentified etc
They have special approvals to travel on the footpaths and general only travel st very slow speeds
You see similar vehicles like the google ones doing roads as well, expect they normally have a lot more cameras which provide greater detail

I remember not all that long ago when you kinda had to look pretty hard to find a human who was just a total Dick!
These days it seems every second salesperson/tradesperson/bureaucrat/politician that one is forced to deal with in life is a 100%, top of the wozza, oxygen thieving phallus the lack of which would benefit all of humanity and the Planet prosper if their mother had of swallowed them whole rather than cooking them for 9 months at 37 deg C.
They should seriously be prevented from reproducing and 'Dickocide' should be a legal defence for acquittal in Court if a bloke does lose his shit and eliminates one of these absolute tools from the genetic pool.
Just sayin' ...

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on where your standing it's not illegal to be a dick but as ET has pointed out they can be easy to pick out by their occupations and very easy to spot by their voting preference .

What made me angry today? You might well bl**dy ask!
Parallel parked at a pay meter in Launceston for a quick supermarket stop en route to a pre-arranged hospital appointment. We had just enough time to stop & pick up a few needed groceries. No-one parked in front of us or behind us.
Returned to the car to find that a pair of utter complete d*ckwads have boxed us in. No more than 300mm gap at either end. Meter says the BMW in front's time has expired (probably never paid) & the motorhome at the back has another 40 minutes.
Although difficult I resisted the urge to ram either of them!
MrsTea takes the numbers & descriptions of the vehicles & heads off to the supermarket to get them to announce over the PA that the owners of the offending vehicles needed to return to their vehicle immediately. In the meantime I phone the hospital to tell them of our predicament & that we will likely be running late. They agree to switch us with next appointment, but if we can't get there within the next 45 minutes will have to re-schedule. We arranged this a couple of weeks ago & have no desire to re-schedule or to extend our time in Launceston. Sh*t!
BMW d*ckwad in front comes back unseen by me whilst I'm on the phone & takes off.
Just as I notice the car n front has gone, D*ckwad No.2 in the motorhome together with his wife return. I verbally accost him & tell him what I think of his inconsiderate nature just as MrsTea returns, saying much the same to the wife. D*ckwad number 2, instead of apologising tries to argue that he had every right as he was within the white lines. I saw red, but managed to refrain from abusing him, instead just instructing him very loudly not to argue with me as he was clearly in the wrong. The front of his vehicle was overhanging the white line between his vehicle & ours by around 300mm & at his rear by more than a metre. I gave him no opportunity to respond, instead jumped in the Patrol & reversed to within a 100mm of his bumper & sat there for a short time before leaving.
Thankfully we just managed to arrive in time for the switched appointment & no rescheduling was needed.
Some people are just plain inconsiderate but at least one of the b*astards knew it this arvo. Grrrr!

We went for a drive and some foreign dude and his young and scantily dressed teenagers had taken up residence right in front of our van , when we got back the missus was fuming but she didn't see what was sunbaking just out of her sight but in full view of mine .

Thats easy...
Wait until the sun goes down (obvious no brainer) but only IF the teens are over 18 (bit sicko otherwise)
If teens are under 18 or sun has set then produce your music of choice for getting rid of unwanted camping neighbours.
Note - the music has to be played at a low enough volume to avoid noise complaints but be sooo annoying people within 20 metres will usually suffer uncontrolled vomiting within 30 minutes
For this, I highly recommend "Top 10 all time Tibetan Throat Chants" or "2014 World Hog Calling Championship Finals" or, if you can find it "Selected training exercises for budding Yodellers" mixed with soundtrack that of any good Porn Movie.
Retire to your tent/van/motorhome and commence playing the music at a subdued but audible volume sufficient to reach the target audience with your player set on loop whilst you listen to Acca Dacca on your Iphone and earbuds.
Works every time.

Our tanks are pretty good, don't like the chances of sinking a crow bar in the ground far though. Dam it, they tell us now we can only take water from the dam for irrigation if water level above 80% cap. Evaporation alone will take the 20%. Thanks for the licensed bore.

At the biggest intersection in Portland Nth. There were roadwork signs set up for over 500m before the intersection and curve where the cars were waiting with the worker.
I was using the drill press in the shed, so didn't hear the crash.

I can only think this guy fell asleep, there are so many roadworks around the area you have to expect to come across some. Lots of drivers suffer from sleep aponea. He could have just dropped off without knowing. Hard to believe you'd be dumb enough to drive past so many signs.

There is so much speculation as what happened. It is disconcerting that so much effort is made to warn drivers of the roadworks and this still happens. Maybe they need to install yellow flashing lights on the signs or something. Cheap and visible.

It reminds me of drop kicks up our way: some yobbos wanted to keep people out of old drop slab hut (Witses - KNP) 25yrs back we use to stay in, by running a chainsaw thru the ledge and brace door and adjacent jam slab to run a chain and lock thru. No wonder access is stopped. Trouble is the irresponsible still find a way to destroy what ever is in their path. It sucks.

Had a mate came off years ago with leathers and still had horrible damage to his leg on the bitumen graze.
We used to go to the Glenburn pub or Reefton pub after a days 4wding and used to watch young blokes roll in on their roadbikes with shorts and their girlfriends on the back with tank tops and skirts.
Had some very skilled riders who used to laugh at those kids and try and educate them but their attitude was pfft, whatever old man...lol...Silly!

After charging you a nominal amount for discussing it with you for 10 mins, he advises that he thinks it’s the injectors and gives you the name of an injector specialist. You call the injector man and he says you can bring it in next month. You will have to pay in advance and you may have to get a few other tests done first. He gives you a list of tests he wants done and where to get them done. You get the testing completed and the test centre forwards the results to your original mechanic and the injector specialist and an appointment is made to get the injectors fixed. To repair the injectors, the specialist mechanic needs you to book into a workshop of his choice, which will be separately billed and also needs the assistance of a fuel line connection specialist who will also bill separately. Before the work can commence, both the injector specialist and the fuel line specialist must meet with you and advise the risks involved with this repair. Finally, there is no guarantee that the problem will be fixed or in fact not made worse. If either of these things happen it is just bad luck and not recoverable from the specialist mechanic. More paperwork is involved if the damage was wholly or partly done at work or if another party is paying for all or part of the work. This is not acceptable for a car repair, so why do we put up with it from a health system?
End of rant. Health issue has been solved but I may not recover from the stress of the paperwork. :furious:

So....apparently a new law has been passed here that we must give Lycra Lunatics 1.5m safe passing clearance in 80kmph + zones. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/03/153.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/03/154.jpg So.....I can’t overtake on double white lines to the top of the hill either? 20mins drive in 1st gear is fair for us is it whilst they have their fun?????
What about the law of being 75kmph under the legally set limit?????

Minimum passing distance legislation has not been passed in Vic.
It is advisory only.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-03-23/victorian-government-rejects-calls-to-introduce-minimum-passing/8380312
In states where it has been passed, there is also an exemption to make it legal to cross unbroken lines in order to pass a cyclist.

In the situation in your photos I, like any other reasonable person, would cross the lines where safe to pass the riders. It's not rocket science and takes seconds only.

I'm not reasonable, why should I risk my life, my family's life and some other family's life just 2 please cyclist? If passing cyclists at unbroken double white lines is safe then it must also be safe to pass motor vehicles at the same double unbroken lines....... oh wait that's still illegal. Perhaps if you lack the judgement required to do so without placing anyone in danger you don't have the requisite skills to be in possession of a drivers licence.
You don't need to fully change lanes and it is a slow moving short and narrow vehicle you are passing. It takes seconds only, even in a gutless td42 like mine.

I understand both point of views but seriously on that road it's dangerous for all and like WA is banning them on a similar road so should we , no problem if it's a wider road but narrow and winding and not knowing what's coming round the next bend I would be reluctant to pass .
Ok maybe if only one and road clearer but when you have multiple bikes means a long time over double lines ,pull a big van and it's not much fun getting stuck behind the buggers.

I don’t think it has anything to do with lacking judgment and being able to pass safely but in this particular instance where MB posted photos it is bloody nearly impossible .
I know this hill and its definetly not designed for overtaking, even a bike.
This is why it was mentioned it would take 20 minutes extra to get up the hill.
It creates frustration in drivers and therefore becomes dangerous as cars try and pass.
Definitely not on in this scenario, and I can tell you now there are million other spots the same.

I sometimes feel like putting somthing on the depression thread when things are building up a bit, but usually see what others are going through and realise it aint so bad. Just going through the hoops with the missus at the moment. Can't understand that these medicos don't realise that when they use the phrase "possible CANCER" and then go on about not to worry probably not, the person doesn't really hear the words after the c word. Anyway everything has been positive so far and this will be too.

I live in SA where over 60kph we need to leave 1.5 meters and have to risk our lives to try to pass several cyclists by passing on double white lines. I travel through the Adelaide hills regularly and find cyclists riding up narrow windy hills together with lines of angry motorists behind them while they ride two abreast. The average cyclist riding these roads have no consideration for others. To suggest it is easy to pass them is absolute bulls#*t.

Meanwhile, as commuters, the Lycra Loonies happily overtake up the inside and blow thru red lights so you have to 'safely' pass the same dipshit/s 2 or 3 times in a few K's.

Same as I got my m/cycle and multicombination licence from a weetbix packet.
The onus on the person overtaking anything is to do so safely.
Cry me a river because you get stuck behind a cyclist for 30 seconds.
Try sitting behind a dipchit grey nomad towing a caravan with no clue.
I have been driving for 30 years also and have never been stuck behind cyclists for more than a few seconds.
Seems its ok to drive along behind anything else for miles on end without the hysterical tantrums caused by cyclists.
Anyone who lives in the city better get used to them.
There is no way known the road network is ever going to cope with the rate of increase in traffic.
Public transport and other alternatives (of which cycling is one) are the only way there is going to be space to move large qtys of commuters into the future.

According to the NSW Road Rules you cannot drive so abnormally slowly that you cause an obstruction. An example of driving ‘abnormally slowly’ would be, if you were travelling at a speed of 20 kilometres per hour on a road with a speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour, then you could be causing an obstruction to other drivers if there is no reason for you to drive at that speed on that road.

Unreasonably obstructing drivers or pedestrians
(1) A driver must not unreasonably obstruct the path of another driver or a pedestrian.
Penalty: 2 penalty units.
Note
"Driver" includes a person in control of a vehicle—see the definition of drive in the dictionary.
(2) For this rule, a driver does not unreasonably obstruct the path of another driver or a pedestrian only because—
(a) the driver is stopped in traffic; or
(b) the driver is driving more slowly than other vehicles (unless the driver is driving abnormally slow in the circumstances).
Example of a driver driving abnormally slow
A driver driving at a speed of 20 kilometres per hour on a length of road to which a speed-limit of 80 kilometres per hour applies when there is no reason for the driver to drive at that speed on the length of road.
http://classic.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/vic/consol_reg/rsrr2017208/s16.html
ROAD SAFETY ROAD RULES 2017 - REG 16
Who is a driver
(1) A driver is the person who is driving a vehicle (except a motor bike, bicycle, animal or animal-drawn vehicle).
Notes
1 Bicycle and motor bike are defined in the dictionary and "vehicle" is defined in rule 15.
2 "Drive" includes be in control of—see the definition in the dictionary.
(2) However, a "driver" does not include a person pushing a motorised wheelchair.

Checked my account and yeah wow. Filled a long drop I reckon. Feck! So what does one do? Buys more at such a low price. Not a lot more just a little more. Lol.

The value in bitcoin is its security. Its only really a currency while volatile its like any other. You buy 10k worth its only worth 10k if it goes up then bonus. It is good for what I said earlier in that your money is very very secure compared to any other method (banks etc). Even transactions are super secure. Sure you can make money but you have to take the risk.

In my opinion there are two things involved in Bitcoin.
One, the concept of a totally non underwritten digital currency.
Two, the concept of Blockchain transactions.
There is no intrinsic value in Bitcoin because it only exists in the mind.
There is no security in Bitcoin because it isn't underwritten by anything of intrinsic value or promise.
What there was once thought to be was 100% security in the block chain transaction of the non-existent bitcoin but that was shot down with the latest hacks where the cyber crims have been 'stealing' bitcoins and other digital currency from the miners.
Bitcoin is, for the most part, underwritten by the dark web and it's inhabitants and speculators who by sheer mass can pump and dump as they choose.
If you get ripped with any digital currency you are screwed.
You can't prove where it came from and you can't prove where it went which is the whole reason for its existence IE the G man can't trace it or know you have it.
It only has exchange value while someone else agrees with you.
Money, Bonds, Shares, etc all have the same issue to point but the difference is the underlying value
All you have with digital currency is a digital certificate.
You can't get the value of the digital certificate from the digital miners, you can only get value from some other dude who is willing to swap certificates for something of value usually hard currency.
Bottom line, IMHO, is that Bitcoin is purely a speculative investment IE if you can't afford to lose 100% of the investment then don't invest and only use it as an immediate 'in one hand out the other' transaction that you don't want anyone else to be able to ever see.

Spot on with that. Be prepared to lose a lot.
I only "dabble" in it, so if i lose a lot its no big issue. Still learning about it through a friend. I'd really love to learn how to trade in shares rather than just having a managed fund, but finding time to learn it all I just can't be assed.

Buy a book called Rule#1 investing. You'll be pretty shitty when it is spelled out how much your fund manager can make off of your stale investment over its life time.
You'll be paying for the fancy lunches with clients, their new Mercedes or Porsche, the family home in Brighton or Toorak or St kilda west, their Daughters Education at Melbourne Girls Grammar and so on.
Piss off your fund manager and get off your arse and learn to do it yourself.
Small time retail investors with some knowledge are much more agile when it comes to the share market. The big players not so much.
Go and learn about fundamental analysis of a company or the Warren Buffett way if you want to call it that.
Then learn about some key areas of technical analysis, to help better time your trades. Etc

I have a cat. But he's just on 20 and when he's outside a bird will sit right next to him and he just looks at it with a look of meh! I really cant be farked! The local brushies here are twice the size of any cat and even size up the local foxes. But yeah I do agree that cats should be locked up at night. They do, do a good job of keeping the rats and mice at bay though. Well my old boy doesn't anymore.

Totally agree Bob, get rid of the whole farking lot! and start rebuilding a decent team.
I can’t believe Smith didn’t step down as soon as he admitted guilt, it’s the only decent thing to do. Just shows his character.

Just observed a courier van attempting to tow start another van , and they were using one of them Super cheap steel tow cables.
The most concerning part is he took a bit of a run up , and guess what the eyelet of the cable was hooked over ?? Surprise surprise, a tow ball !
After their second go , i attempted to explain the cable isn't elastic and to be a bit more conservative about the other 20 people around them at the servo that could cop the cable or the steel ball through their brain...
I was shut down with language barrier as I'm not too good in Hindu. Meanwhile he put it into "D" for another go...
Which is where I walked away with haste.

Hats off to you for trying to remove the hazard, but unfortunately you can't win them all - just hope it worked out without incident, which in itself is a problem because it won't change entrenched behavour or understanding and they are likely to do it again next time.
