Despite being sick I forced myself to go out and remove the old bent up sliders off the gu, most of the bolts were stuck like buggery so I cut it all off except the two bolts on the cross member. .. And with my luck as usual I rang off a 14mm bolt.. Fark I love giving myself more work.

There once was a time when there was far less traffic and most walked to school... nowadays everyone drives and not many dare to let there kids go to school on there own for fear of the worst.. funny thing is there is more fear from the cars then that other thing I dare not think about.

This pi55es me off big time. Why is this so??? What is the problem??

If you teach your kids how to walk and then how to cross the road properly then why is this an issue??

Pedo threat is a different story but I reckon It has not changed between now and 50 year ago!

This is just down right stupid I live on the outskirts and drive 100ks to work and back and then still have to drop my kids off at school, my wife does around the same amount as me every day imagine how much they would be charging me and there is ppl who travel further. The typed word did not convey the direct message as you were probably being polite.

I have to admit I couldn't read all of Pauls post, the start told me what to expect. As did the video from there the other day.

It is terrible that we are not aware of what really happens so no real pressure from our population is applied to the politicians and we kept being fed the sanitised version.

A persons passion for our country as in Pauls case is what we need to be informed. As is your passion for our past tools, house hold items etc and knife making.

We have different interests, that's all. What is "crap" to one, as you implied, is very important to another.

I could not read it either as there is to much depressing crap around and I dont need it here... when ever I have sat through that sort of stuff on the internet it has gotten me so down and depressed so I know now not to read that stuff.

There seems to be a trend with Micro$soft...Win95=Garbage, Win98=Good, Win ME= Oh My! Garbage, WinXP=Good, Vista= yet another fail, Win7= Good, Win8=Garbage, Too confusing. I though to sit down this morning and try to get used to it as its purely for the business and I really can't be stuffed putting 7 on it. Well to do the same amount of things on W8 as what I did using W7 took longer as everything is so messed about. Trying to incorporate an O/S for both pc/ laptops and touch screens makes it very annoying to navigate. I know M/s have fixed a few things and hopefully they will make it easier for dedicated pc/ laptop users but I ain't holding my breath. So for now I need to find all the drivers for this new lappy, not too hard but annoying, then waste hours reloading everything back on.

It was much worse than it is now, when the OS was released. It was purely based on a tablet form, and tiles were so annoying. They are slowly backpedaling into the usual "Start button is KING" form, but it will take a while.
I've built so many systems recently for customers, who unknowingly requested W8 thinking its latest and greatest, only to blast me not long after, and requesting W7 or some form of Linux put on as 8 is so crap.

I've adapted to 8 somewhat. I just stay in the Start button desktop form, and completely ignore the full screen tiles programs, which are mostly only the MS bloatware.

Yeah well if only I could go back to 7 I would. Error after error Whilst just trying to update it finally said it was updating upon reboot. 95 updates and three hours later it fails and now its hanging there while it reverts all the changes it had done. I have been told 8.1 is better but I can even get that far. Stupid cufking thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats happened to me a couple of times over the last year or two. I seen a woman on Plenty Rd broke down and I asked if she needed a push, and she told me to eff off and called me a sexist pig because I apparently thought a woman can't push a car... Now I just don't bother and keep driving. Ungrateful pricks.

I will still offer my help... last week I followed a lady flashing my lights at her and she did not stop until she pulled into a school and parked.. she got out and gave me a dirty look and I told her to pull her head in and that she had a flat tyre and was driving on the rim.

Her attitude changed straight away and she started to pull the gear out to change the tyre so I pulled up along side and used my onboard compressor to pump up the tyre and it held air so told her to get it checked.

She was so grateful for my help and I hope I changed her attitude just a bit...

I have changed about 5 tyres for woman in the area in the last 2 years and have had them even offer me money which I refused... so guys dont always be so cynical all the time.

It's hard not to be cynical, when shyte like this happens. You pull over, to help a fellow 4wd-er and Patrol-er out and he gives you the abrupt f*** off face. It's demoralizing.

I'm not going to stop attempting to help people. Done it before, will do it again. I winched a cop out of a spoon drain north of Sunbury with my Navara, and got a freakin' seat belt ticket a week later, on the same road! Hows that for negative Karma?!

This is the same board which is missed "somewhere" in March 2014.

The same airline company - Malaysian Airlines.
The plane number in march was MH370, 9M-MRO and the name of crashed is MH17, 9M-MRD. Only few letters is difference.

Its over dated passport. I want to see how someone try to make an international flight with this passport.
This catastrophe is totally fake and international political provocation.

We all living in the world of propaganda. The propaganda of our own government.
And only the government say us what is wright and what is wrong. And sometimes they call black color us white. And we are believing them.

PS. A few years ago (4 October 2011) Ukrainian forces are hit the 1812 board from Israel. All passengers are died.

However, Ukrainian officials later admitted that it was indeed their military that shot down the airliner.[14][15] Ukraine, reportedly, banned the testing of Buk, S-300 and similar missile systems for a period of 7 years following this incident.[16][17][18]

I wish it was fake my friend. This is a Tragedy of the highest order.

I would expect that that stack of passports may have been collected from baggage that had once been in overhead lockers. Not all was burnt which is evident in that video. That is the first vid that i have seen that shows bodies laying there. Maybe we should remove it actually.? This is a terrible thing. Not any part of me thinks that this might be a Fake! Not at all! Maybe part of that Video is fake but the crash certainly is not.

G'day Trendsetters,

It is very sad with what is happening around the world at present, as a former soldier, I have seen my far share of wars and misery in two different armies.

I just wish that humanity could be more caring and loving towards one another and hopefully one day eradicate wars. However, for this to occurred we need to properly educate all the children of the world the right and proper way to live life.

We need all the women around the world to have equal rights and pay as men. We need to focus on that every human being as being treated as being equal and free to what ever they wish to do within the rule of law.

Now not having a go but can someone tell me why Chinese have to kill things?
For the past month maybe 10 different mobs have turned up here, and without fail they've had to catch small fish, hermit crabs, sand crabs, cockles, anything they can actually, put em into a plastic bag or water bottle with some sea water take pics of it and then leave it out in the sun to die! WTF? Again not picking on them, just wanna know why?
I've rescued a couple of hermit crabs when they leave the beach I go and find there catch and release it :)

G'day Trendsetters, It is very sad with what is happening around the world at present, as a former soldier, I have seen my far share of wars and misery in two different armies. Hi folks,

We are all aware of this tragic event but I do not want to see this thread manifest into a political debate or a blame game on who is responsible.

Remember we have a few members here from these regions too.

We should also not forget the 200 plus innocent victims that lost their lives in this coward attack.

Or the pain their families are currently going through knowing their loved ones are still sitting in a field where they fell or a body bag siting on the side of the road.......

G'evening folks,

Unfortunately, Brutality and Wars start when everyone in society deliberately ignores what is occurring around them or overseas. (out of sight, out of mind)

The following story sums up ignorance!

ISIS is the real threat to world peace

BY NIDAL AL-MUGHRABI AND JEFFREY HELLER
IRAQ/SYRIA Sat Jul 19, 2014 7:28am EDT

The situation in Gaza and Israel is grim, but there's another situation that is pure evil and should have our attention.

ISIS has taken over large chunks of Syria and Iraq and are now holding weapons, armor, and vehicles provided by the United States Army. They have declared all that follow them to be safe, everyone else, Muslim or not is in their cross hairs. So much was made about a raid by Israeli forces at the Al Aqsa Mosque, but I noticed something very interesting, the Israeli forces weren't trying to blow up the Mosque. A fight breaks out between armed forces and rock throwing protesters at a Mosque and it's got our attention, but where's the outcry and the fury over a group that has actually blown up places of worship?

ISIS has killed tens of thousands of people in Iraq and Syria. Thousands. Sadly those lives lost don't get our attention and especially in the Western world because we're all busy watching Israel V Hamas round 4 take place. ISIS is a threat to every Iraqi and Syrian, but also the rest of the world. Every Muslim and Non-Muslim alike are targets for ISIS and their followers. With control of so much land, oil, and weapons it's only a matter of time that ISIS goes global with their battle plan.

Already ISIS has proclaimed that they and their leader are the leaders of all the Muslims in the world. That bold claim, while widely brushed aside, is a serious one. An armed militant group that is hell-bent on domination is feeling so confident that they have lay claim on every Muslim life and land in the world. Today it's in Syria and Iraq, tomorrow they'll be sending fighters the world over to take what they think its theirs.

There should be mass protests and media coverage of ISIS al over the world and it's merciless conquering of Iraq and Syria, but there isn't.

ISIS has killed over 25,000 people. 15,000 including women and children while 1.2 Million people have been driven from their homes. Let's compare that with the more "popular" war Israel Vs Hamas. In Gaza close to 350 people have been killed.

The entire world's media is focused on Israel,Gaza and global warming, all the social media and citizen action fronts are mobilizing to stop the bloodshed, and rightly so. The question remains , why have we been so silent while 25,000 people have perished in Iraq alone? We haven't even looked at the death toll from Syria. Israel and Hamas both have their axe to grind with each other and Israel will agree to a truce again soon enough, and Hamas eventually will given in too. That war has an end that we call can see. There is a clear list of demands on both sides to end the violence too, however with the ISIS there isn't. They're not asking for the lifting of a blockade or the end to rocket strikes, they're looking to dominate the people and eliminate all that stand opposed to them.

ISIS is the biggest threat the Middle East and the rest of the world has today. They have systematically terrorized civilians with mass murders, sexual violence, kidnappings, and even destruction of places of worship. They aren't sending any warnings, they aren't giving an avenue for a way out, it's either surrender to their will or be killed.

As a Muslim I must speak up against the ISIS. They do not represent me or my family and they surely do not represent Islam. They're drugged up militants getting high on murder, rape, and violence and must be stopped. As an American I am ashamed and deeply distraught over the fact that our weapons, our vehicles, our military equipment is being used to carry out their attacks. It's humiliating enough that we were all duped into Iraq in the first place , now the very equipment used to invade Iraq and then arm its military is in the hands of Terrorists

Speaking up against ISIS means there will be a target on your head. You won't just got bombarded with hate emails and comments but they'll threaten your entire family. It's not easy to speak up against a group that scary with no moral code. If we don't speak up and stand up to them now, those in Iraq and Syria are going to be destroyed and soon their sights will turn to the rest of us while we live in a blinded reality.

The ISIS Map for what they plan to conquer after Iraq and Syria. As unlikely as it may seem to take over so many countries, they have already managed to take two. They don't need to take control for their presence to be felt, their terrorists tactics alone will change the way we live unless we stop them now. Indonesia will be next on their agenda as they have the worlds largest Muslim population.

As there was no cranking at all. Ended up hiring a car trailer and towing it there, after being pee farted around for around an hr they finally let us off load it into their garage. I have now come this morn to organise a loan car and told I have no chance and that they prob won't get to even looking at the car until some time Tom if I am lucky. So in other words either the wife or I won't be able to get to work as I work arvos and drop the kids off at school and tan has to pick them up so both of us need the car.

What made me angry today? Getting the EGT and Boost gauges and realising the nut welded into the dump pipe was 1/4, not 1/ so the probe doesn't fit... AND realising I don't have the barb fitting for the boost line to the sender... AND realising the wiring is too short and I can't get more as the MRS took the other car... AND the Patrol is outside as the bikes in the shed in pieces and its starting to rain and I need to put the wiring back together to put the windows up...

Yeah nearly all EGT probes use 1/8. You can get the 1/4-1/8 adaptors form your local or nearest fitting supplier. Same goes for the boost sensor.

Am right jacked off. Spent ages searching for the cause of a musty smell in the house. Found it, it was a damp cloth in a laundry cupboard. Whilst looking I checked under the floor I saw a wet area under the shower. Sure enough, turn on the shower & there is water dripping under the floor. Same with both taps. Further exploration reveals that the shower head is screwed onto a brass thread which is screwed into a plastic fitting, which looks like it is screwed onto yet another brass 90 degree fitting. All this behind a wall covered with a tile sheet which as far as I can tell is a design no longer available. Looks like the whole shower will have to come out just to get at the leaking fitting behind the wall. Not happy Jan. Not happy at all! Grrrr

Any chance you can get to it from the other side of the wall.We have the same problem in the shower where there appears to be a small weep from the tap manifold, as the manifold is on the wall that forms the hallway on the other side we will attack it from the hall side. good luck with it mate.

Pearcey, a big thank you! That is so obvious and sensible now that you mention it. It is on a wall that forms the hallway on the other side. It simply didn’t occur to me to attack it from that side. Patching up a hole in a plaster wall is a far better idea than wrecking half the bathroom.

Thinking ‘aloud’.
I’m now trying to work out how I will mount a new fitting for the shower head to attach to. I imagine the current one is probably screwed onto the shower side of a noggin. I can cut out & replace the noggin, but how to attach the fitting on the shower side? Can you get flexible pipes to run from the tap set to the shower head? (I’m guessing that currently it has copper pipe). If flexible is possible I guess I could attach the fitting to a new noggin first, then screw the noggin into place, fit the shower head & test it all for leaks before repairing the wall. Sound like a plan.

It is possible that just tightening pipe connections might stop the leak, but I think it sensible to replace the mix of brass & plastic whilst I’m in there.

Mate I think flexible hoses would be available but it may be as simple as removing the old pipe work and replacing it, most plumbing work is reasonably simple it`s just hard to get to. I`m not into plumbing but I think if I could stay with copper rather than going to flexible as there are a few weak areas with the flex system, ie crimp fittings threaded joints and the hose itself is reinforced rubber which does perish over time. There may be a plumber on here who could advise you. good luck with it

He is quite happy this morning so his temps have broken but still a real sicky...

Hey Ian I have had to swap out some old taps lately and they did not want to budge without bending the copper pipes so I put a bit of heat on them and they came off so easy.. you probably knew that though.

Well job's half done. Geez I hate plumbing, it's always a hassle, no wonder plumbers get paid well.
Now have a hole in the hall wall, & found that it is the shower 'breech' itself which is leaking, it appears to have corroded from the inside out. Only one hole, (enlarged as I used pressure to unscrew one of the flared fittings) but a number of other spots looking like they too only had a limited time to go. Am replacing it, but not easy as it is mounted on the shower side of a noggin, & I am attacking it from behind. Any thoughts on the reason for the corrosion in copper? Did I mention I hate plumbing!

most plumbing is done with poly pipe
much cheaper and you can get it for hot water
as well has a blue line on it
8 or so wraps with thread tape will stop
any leaks where threaded

The corrosion appears to be at the soldered joint which posers the question as to now good the original job was. Good soldering depends on how clean the joints were and if the joint was fluxed properly. A small bit of dirt , iron filing ,or swarf trapped in the joint can cause electrolysis , rust and corrosion.
Just my thoughts.

Not just at the soldered joint. Now that I've fitted the new one, I thought I'd look a bit more closely at the old. Not sure what sort of metal it is, but it sure ain't copper. Polishes up on a wire wheel to a brass colour, but I suspect it is a 'pot metal' amalgam. I *very* lightly tapped on the patches of scale with a small bolt & as you can see in the pic, more holes appeared. I think we were lucky to discover it when we did. Would've done a lot of damage if it had let go when we were away.

Won't get scan until tomoz and Leah is feeling a bit better for now and doesn't want to spend night there so ill just keep an eye out tonight.

its brass mate
when breacher was put in it has been hit with the oxy torch
and crystalised thus weakening that spot

Cuppa
27th July 2014, 01:49 PM
Thanks my third, that matches with what I’ve just been reading. It didn’t mention heating the brass with an oxy torch, but did make reference to crystallising caused by leaching out of the zinc component of the brass when the brass has not been made to ‘corrosion resistant’ standards & used for hard & chlorinated water. Result is the material remaining is a “ copper-rich sponge with poor mechanical properties, and color changed from yellow to red” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selective_leaching).

Bottom line is that from reading that wikipedia article & this one (http://www.forcetechnology.com/NR/rdonlyres/1C484188-4A09-4B20-8221-7ADF1D55BE60/4642/EUROCORR2011Corrosionofbrassindrinkingwaterwithhig .pdf) (not that I understood most of it) is that crystallising of the brass is clearly what happened. Makes me feel more comfortable that we don’t have a house full of water pipes all on the verge of disintegrating.

I will be handing this over to my new accountant and let them sort it out. They get paid enough so they can do it. Up to date now my old accountant has cost me around $2500 in fines and around 15k in back payments because of his errors. It took the new accountant three months to basically go over everything from the start to make everything correct.

Mystical is an understatement. The accountant comes around and tries to explain it to me, be he might aswell talk in chinese to me. This shit is wearing me and the missus down at the moment. Its been going on far too long. So I have no option but to close down and concentrate on the shop and then really have no money until it gets bigger I think. Just waiting with baited breath on the first BAS outcome for the store, then that will gauge how hard I can go for the next quarter.
But having my own shop is my dream so I must at the least give it a shot. If it fails, atleast I have tried.

Hopefully your new accountant can help out.
And per other people, try and set up a payment plan... They will normally accept if it sounds reasonable, otherwise most collectors will accept a financial statement to prove the amount you're suggesting but would hope it doesn't have to get that far...

Sorry to hear Mudski, hope it works out. I am in a similar boat and still paying off fines to the goberment for fines that are around 7-8yrs old. They totalled nearly 3g in the end before I even found out I had them. Two were for not voting here in vic when we lived in Perth at the time and the others were tolls for a car that I had sold and the person didn't transfer it for a while. I did despite them but got rejected and still have to pay it all back. So I pay $100 a month on principal.

As suspected for a long time now, it appears, my turbo is stuffed. I'm more angry at my self for this, than anything else, as I didn't act on it sooner.
A bit of a background on this... Since I bought the car, it had a mechanical, whining/rattling noise, in sync with the turbo spool up. At first thought to be air/exhaust leak. Mark at JPC confirmed it was mechanical after he put it on dyno and had a good listened with a steto. A mechanic at work, who I showed this to long time ago, had a GU with the SAME noise earlier in the week. He just rang me before and told me, when they took that turbo off, there was major shaft play inside, and oil seals on the inside were shot, sending oil and air into the intercooler ??? Makes me wonder if there is a chance, this might have been contributing in the power lag / mood swings I've been having with this grenade. :S

For a dollar the bloody gypsies/lemmings/nomads are packed into the memorial !! There must have been 60-100 vans in there. I have seen gypsy camps in Belgium and UK and they looked better than what I saw today and for a dollar donation? I'll bet there were few parked in that memorial that had even served let alone fought.

There are so many outstanding memorials and events to honor those that served and didn't come back in this country that it is very humbling compared to other countries remembrance observations. IMHO this is just way over the top in complete lack of sincerity... a dollar ??? FMD

Next doors trampoline landed on our fence. Though this didn't make me angry. I thought it was funny. The dogs were barking at it like it was some kind of alien or something.

But what did make me mad was my boss at work. Some may be aware that my old man passed away of cancer a few weeks ago. Anyway, i didn't show up to work when this occurred because I was a bit upset. Seems reasonable?

Anyway, my offsider at work tells me that my boss was under the impression that I wasn't that upset by my fathers passing because during my absence from work, I logged onto Facebook and liked some posts. Didn't realise I was supposed to sit in solitary confinement and ignore the world. My boss said to my offsider, Andy can't be that upset, I mean, he's posting and liking stuff on Facebook. I wanted to hit him so bad. Ive never been so insulted in my entire fu3king life.

To those who actually understand his fellow man, this is not acceptable social behaviour

Parksy,
I had a similar experience with a former boss. My 24 yo cousin was killed by a drunk driver leaving a young child without a mother. I told the boss I'd be away to take my 80 yo dad to the funeral which was 150k away and a week later due to an autopsy being required, his response was "gee that's a bit inconvenient, I had a meeting planned for that day and need you to attend" or something along those lines. I stood there and looked at him for a short time and then turned slowly away. I had so many responses but thought better of it, the result could have been the sack at best, an assault charge at worst.
I got headhunted by another part of the company about 3mths later and was very happy to move. Boss did my exit interview, pleaded with me to stay. Then he asked me what I thought he could do to be a better manager - 10 mins later he was still sitting there looking stunned and shocked.

I got angry today. Missed a parcel from Australia Post, drove down to the post office and it was registered mail.... from Department of Environment, Water & Natural Resources. I cracked the shits instantly as my neighbour bashed on my door at 1am this morning complaining about smoke from our wood heater - thought the bugger must have made a complaint.

Ripped the envelope open, yanked out the stupid book [ready to throw it in the nearest bin] and bugger me, Desert Parks Pass :1087:

The flu would be close to 20ft long as it sits, have a chimney cleaner coming to clean it and make sure it's the right height. I'll ask him about extending it. The main issue is that the last delivery of wood is a little green, so if the fire isn't cranked it's a bit smokey at the moment.

Yep. He's a bit of a social numpty. A nice guy, generally a good neighbour but if something irritates him he lets it go until his brain explodes. I'll have a word with him on his decorum after the chimney sweep has been through. I'm not thrilled with his manner the other night and my wife was a little intimidated by him a couple of years ago when he pulled a similar stunt over a squeaky a/c fan.

If you're going to bang on my door at 1am, you better be in trouble, telling me I'm in trouble - or pleasant. It isn't hard.

Mate, diabetes sucks for sure but it can also be a good wake up call if your diet isn't up to scratch etc.

I kind of wish I could get it again as I've let myself go after a number of years since d day... Would be great to, start over and stick to it.

Thanks guys I did some more reading last night (this can be good and bad) and know it is not the end of the world...

My problem stems from my bladder and needing to wee very often and the other outcome as discussed with my doctor is a have a problem with my bladder that could involve surgery.

Now I am not sure if it is because I am sick at the moment and have been taking cold tablets but yesterday I went for a wee about 20+ times and many of you know because you like to give me shit about it but I seem to we a lot but the last few days my mouth has been so dry and I cannot hold fluid at all... once upon a time I would just keep this to myself and I suppose I have for the last few years but it has gotten worse and I need to talk about it... I told my wife of my fears and at first I got a lecture about not getting blood tests done sometime ago but I told her that this does not help !!!! now she feels guilty...lol !!!

I guess I know many of you have diabetes but no one talks about it so I have no understanding of it but to put my head in the sand.

lifestyle changes don't help, I played sport up till I was injured at 35 yrs old
skin diving every summer as well then nothing. something has to give.
Im sort of lucky going to the Docs all the time as I can tell him of any changes.
Just last month told him I couldn't pull the skin off a custard, go figure my Thyroid gland was play up
4 small pills in the morning and Im good to go.
I hate taking tablets never took one until I was injured, and now my mobility is back
I hope to take less and less as I go along.
BTW seeing my Doc in one hours time to discuss a few topics.
NEVER try to self diagnose or if Charlie had a running nose and you do it may not be the same thing.
My only concern is a cant make white blood cells and they are the goodies from what I gather.

You read too much, like others have said don't stress about it. It could be something called impaired fasting glycaemia, which is basically where your rating is below that for type 2 diabetes but higher than it should be, again controlled by diet and exercise etc etc etc. You'll find out for sure by having a glucose tolerance test............... which reminds me, I must get mine checked again.

Was cooking schnitzels and slipped out of the tongs before it was in the pan properly splashing oil onto my finger, aching pain for 3-4 hrs, blistered up a little.
Put a thick band aid on it, to protect it a little at work, all good.
Took the band aid off and all the skin came off with it.
Ouch.
