Seeing a public notice like this one in my local paper , presumably from our glorious leader of The republic of victoriastan.

The authorities are like unions
They are not the enemy
Their role is to bring peace
To the chaos of life.
Don’t believe everything
You hear.
The minimum wage is
$17.70 per hour
Enjoy .

I'm with you mudnut. Such a useless bloody exercise that should be phased out and replaced with something that applies to life & work requirements of the 21st century.

When was the last / Have you ever heard of an employer asking "What was your ATAR score?"

The problem with all this is it's setup by people who work in the education industry & politicians, not anyone from the much wider world.

When an eBay store lists the item in Melbourne or in Australia in general. And then gets delayed, finally arrives and it's obvious it arrived from China. That is so annoying.
The decision to go with that store in the first place for potentially faster delivery being in the country, and then get shafted. Has to be false advertising doesn't it.

Been just over 9 weeks for me, was smoking a 50 gram pack of rollies every 2.5 days. I just bought a new GU Patrol and the money I don't spend on smokes every week, just about pays for it! Yesterday was the first time I have woken up and not wanted a smoke straight away, I didn't think about it until mid morning, so it is getting easier as the weeks pass.

Yep, worked for me.
The first 10 years or so I would buy a couple packs whenever we would go camping (few times a year), smoke flat out for the weekend and then not touch anything until the next trip. Been 6+ years now absolutely nothing.

Good luck...

Ive realized I no longer trust people.
Not my family or friends that are regularly in my life.
Its not people that I see regularly.
Its people who are different to the Aussies for a better t er m .
Living in a small community away from large population areas has given me a sense of security.
But when I see a person I don't know who looks and or dresses in a way that suggests a possible muslim background, my trust disappears.
Who are they? Are they anti Australian? Do they harbour a hatred of our way of life or religions? Will they act on those thoughts? Or do they cover for or remain silent when they know someone is acting irrational or talking about our ways in a negative tone?
I can't tell by looking at them so there is no longer a trust that we as Australian people freely give.

Sorry to hear Andy, sounds like you've definitely been through the ringer recently - after a pretty average 2016, my family were definitely hoping for a better start to 2017... started off with trip down to Tasmania for grandfathers funeral, then daughter came down with tonsillitis and double ear infection whilst away camping, then the next weekend wife was in hospital with severe asthma attack.... so here's to a better 2017 for everyone all round!! This is what pisses me off the most. I don't know whos hands are tied. The cops, the judge, full prisons? Something is wrong.
On Monday a bloke attempted to steal a womans car at a local servo while she was filling up. When he failed, he jumped into the car next to it and tried and failed at that.
Some tradies near by got a hold of him, done a citizens arrest. Cops arrived and they knew him on a names basis... Took him away.
He got arrested again on Thursday morning for trying to break into a house... Makes one wonder, what's going on.

Here's an example of what makes me angry: http://www.thecourier.com.au/story/4416435/13-year-old-criminal-causes-450000-damage-remains-behind-bars/

Police catch them, bail justices and magistrates grant them bail. The community suffers, I often wonder what his parental situation is like.
We have an ice epidemic locally, aggravated burglaries, car thefts, elderly people assaulted, family violence etc. We are having cars burnt out in the local forest on a very regular basis, I found four a while ago that were burnt out.

This has affected family and friends of ours and I'm over it. The police are doing their best but the 'system' lets them out again.

Found a good mechanic here, and he did it right last time. Problem here is our extreme temps wreak havoc on the metals and gaskets. Ranges from +20C to -50C tend to work an engine over if it's not in a heated garage.

I'm sure I could somewhere. Russians are great at fabricating whatever is needed. Problem last time is I think an aftermarket gasket was used. At a minimum I will go with Nissan original this time around. Should hold up better.

Called up the insurers today to find out what the go was with my claim. The other car has been written off, repairers have quoted approx 4k to repair mine, not including cost of bullbar. So will get the quote myself for the bar work, send that to insurers, then take the car ro repairers for them to measure the chassis to make sure thats ok....... why did they not do that when I took the Q to get checked over after the accident, only eye balled it apparently. So much time wasted

Really? With a hit like that I would have thought they would measure the chassis first off to make sure the car is salvageable?

what the blue book value of your Patrol,
or is it based on what you have it insured for.
I realize blue book doesnt represent true value

Looking at the damage done I think the bull bar

obviously it's insured for more than the book price, and yes the bar was very well made, built for off road and wouldn't expect anything less from Mike at Xlr8 Fabrications

Not angry, just knowing that is going to be full on again.

Soccer training has started earlier this week and with a practice match in 8 hours.
Training Tuesday/Thursady.

After a year off due to an ankle injury my eldest is back at preseason training at a different club, 20 minutes away. Monday/Wednesday.

So that's training 4 nights a week with 2 games on Sundays.

The top is 1500mm long and I've had the holes drilled in 400mm from each end, I forgot about the drawers underneath, so the holes should have been 375mm in from the end due to the pipework cutouts in the drawers.

Hmmm? should be able to get the top drawer cutouts offset, to work around the fark up hopefully! Otherwise it looks like we will have a cupboard underneath instead of drawers. Bang Head

People selling fakes on Ebay - Bought two Sandisk Ultra 32 gig micro sd cards (aussie seller) a couple of weeks ago for my Dashcam & Gopro, not a bad price, $14.00 each. Alarm bells should have gone off then. Spent last weekend driving & recording some tracks only to find that the cameras were only recording about 40 minutes instead of around 2 1/2 hours. Get to the campsite to find most of the vision corrupted.

They were supposed to be high speed cards, I thought that might be the problem, too fast for the cameras. After stuffing around for a couple of days doing some research I found that fake SD cards are common on Ebay. Downloaded a testing program & sure enough only 7.5 gig available on the cards. Hours of driving for nothing!

Seems that they take an 8 gig card & reconfigure it to say it has 32 gig of storage, computer & cameras think it has 32 & keep trying to write to it, so when you look at the files they are all there, you just cant do anything with them (except delete).

They looked real enough when they arrived. Should have checked the seller's feedback, plenty of negative comments about selling fake cards. Have requested a refund.........will have to see how they respond.

Buyers beware!

That road back from Mt Gambier to Heywood, there are some craters in that thing. Signposted down to a red & black 60 now and that's almost too fast if you end up in the wrong spot in the lane.

I'd reckon that stretch between Winnap & Lyons has to be the most dangerous stretch of road in the state.

Work....

Three years ago we were told that we had to drop a days production, which also meant a days pay. That lasted for about 2 and a bit years, then we went back to our normal roster (7 days, 12 hour shifts, 84 hours per fortnight ).
Now we're told that we have to go back to dropping a day, 72 hours per fortnight.
My department has gone from Peking @ 42 million dollars of sales to down to 11 million dollars of sales over the last decade.
We're also told that they will review in 6 months. What a load of crap. This came from management. We lost a 800,000 job to a competitor. We can only hope that their product isn't good and they came back to us, that and he told us if everyone could do 7% more production that would help with the labour cost.

Next step would be for everyone to go to a 8 hour 5 days a week roster, loss even more $, then they may have to look at redundancy. Something that some people are happy to take now.
One thing for sure is that I have 64 weeks + over 400 hours of entitlements owing to me, so I'm not walking away.

Sorry to hear that. Last company I worked (contract) for had been in business over 40 years. Due to cheep Chinese imports we could no longer compete. A couple of old blokes there had been with this company right from the beginning. The company went under and these poor blokes lost all their long service leave entitlements and accumulated annual leave (plus some super). The director managed to sell the company name and piss off back to NZ.

personally I'd keep a keen eye on where the business is going. and jump ship early if need be. one sign would be if the company isn't paying suppliers on time.

Sons 4.2 GU that shit itself after 27000 Kay's update , when the engine reco mob pulled it down further they discovered original pistons , sleeves had been installed with a hammer , no3 had the rings spinning in the bore .
Brand new injector pump was installed out of timing , mind you the receipt clearly shows these parts as replaced including the brass welsh plugs that were orig steel ones .
Only reason my son bought it was the rebuild with receipts , as the engine rebuilder has said not his problem my son is getting a report done and keeping all parts replaced for a possible court action when it's all finished .
So beware don't go by rebuild invoice / receipts if you get a car done by this mob .

I gather this pull down is a different reco mob. If you have the reciepts it should be an easy task to take to court. If the reciept says something was done and it wasn't then they have to front up. Not sure how you go witrh the consequential damage to the head though. Who commissioned the original recon?. The reciepts may be for another motor. Anyway good luck with it.

Our engine reco guys can't get over the hammer marks on the sleeves and lack of parts supposedly replaced and botch job done on the head .

Their mistake was supplying a detailed receipt with engine No , noticed the injector pump was over a grand dearer than OEM , also the injectors are old orig and some need replacing was also on list .

Update - they found these guys on the island yesterday and they have been charged. Now just hope we don't get a stupid magistrate that fines them a couple of dollars or gives a community service order or something light.

looks like he'll pay big time...apparently he's a chevron worker and they do not like this sort of bad publicity, and a i seen a few comments that a few co workers may want to kick him around a bit when he hops off the plane,if he keeps his nice oil and gas job....

After getting the warning signs last night of the oil temp, sub tank, handbreak etc lights staying on, it would appear my alternator has died. Started driving down my street just before and the radio and other electrics shut off. Quickly turned back home, tried to restart the car and what do you know, wouldn't start. Up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to organise a tow to the mechanic. Sigh....

European wasp nest back in the garden. One of the dogs got too close and a wasp buried itself into its paws between the toes - took a couple of secs to find it and remove- poor bugger limped around a bit but all ok. Just knocked the nest out with poison, but like always they keep returning to find some sort of spot to nest.

Wive's car is on it's last legs. So we've been talking about / looking at cars she may like. So far, smaller SUVs, like Xtrail, Forester, Outback, Outlander etc... Are on her taste list.
Opportunity has come up, to grab a family friends Patrol. 2013, low K's, automatic. Only mod it has is tinted windows. Would be absolutely perfect for her. Pretty sure we'd get a great price from them too.
But the stubborn as a cold stone, female mentality just won't comprehend one bit... So many irrelevant excuses like, Oh but we already have a Patrol, car is too big for me, bla bla bla... Very frustrating.

Irrelevant for you maybe but you have to admit, they are a harder vehicle to drive around town than a smaller Xtrail for example..... harder to manoeuvre in tight spaces, harder to park..... some women including my missus just done like driving them, although my missus is quite content driving Pajero, same approx dimensions but more manoeuvrability due to titgher turning circle and drives more like a car than a truck......... as frustrating as it maybe, she'll be the one that has to drive it and if she feels unfortable doing so, then she's going to hate it. Shes never driven any of my Patrols, due to both of them being manual. She absolutely doesn't want to know about manual. Full stop.
But she HAS driven A automatic one and didn't mind it at all. In fact a Patrol was one of the front runners when she was getting a new car last year, and when i nearly sold my 4.2 due to me getting a work ute. So a Patrol was always in the running. She actually likes them and has no trouble driving them.
The problem now is, she is too stuck in the "Lets get a small SUV rut". For less than the price of a new xtrail etc... She could have a full sized 4x4 automatic with ridiculously low K's and ample room for whatever she/we need.
Mind you there is a little bit of me, not minding two Patrols in the driveway too. lol

Not that we're in the burbs but getting Mrs MB into an early GU years back was the best thing vehicle wise we've done as a family I believe. If needed we can swap out tyres between her 33s and my 35s and many other sharing spare parts shed storage options are available. When we first met she had a Daewoo Lanos for work runs and a HZ 308 ute for hauling her horses. I sleep very well now knowing her and the kids are in a tank of a GU and yes it makes me smile getting home each night parking two white his and her variant trucks side by side, silly and shallow I know, lol :-)

Angry at myself for this. So I place an order for some wine. I find a nice drop of 12 bottles and the price per bottle was under half the price of any shop I could find it in. So I place the order. Today I thought to check the status of my order. Then I realised. The bottles are 375ml!!! Faarrrrrrk! So annoyed that I did not pick this up. Ah well. Atleast I can say, I can drink a bottle of wine to myself and not get drunk. Haha!

How does that work if its out of rego? I assume you would still need CTP???

Patrol was booked in with the mechanic 2 get swivel hub done and front and rear swaybars as it wouldn't pass the blue slip... has some other things that needed doing which i done myself, it had a miss as well so though I'd renew the spark plugs and they were all tight as fark, so just nudge then forward and back until they came out..... lucky last snapped :( sprayed it with wd40 for a week each day then tried 2 easy it out and snapped the tip of the easy out into the bore so can't start it. So booked it into the mechanics 2 see if he can get it out, if not the head needs 2 come off and get machined :(

Nope, just looked it up, you have 3 months after expiry 2 renew it after that they will cancel your plates and send you a letter 2 hand the plates over.

Hence why Dom14 said "provided you don't upset any cops on the road for next three months"

Would be a very big risk considering I believe all highway patrol in NSW can scan your plate these days and know if it is registered all not

It was all a big boys club and if you didn't go out to Sydney on weekends and take cocaine and sneak hookers home when your wife is away, then you're not one of the boys and you will be railroaded out eventually.
We are a big international company so when our French head office heard about it they flew someone out and marched everybody out the same day.
Was hard to work for them for a little while but the last 2 years have been the best we've had in decades and it's a great place to work now.

I hope somebody realises this bloke is just out for blood mate and things sort out for you.

Amy's dad has just bought a few acres up at Nicholson which is a short walking distance from the Nicho river. It will give us somewhere private to take the camper and pretend we are camping for long weekends.

My best man has the first farm on the left just past the Nicho river, east bound
Great bream river as well

Not even sure if this is the right place to post this. Just saw a video of my grandson and his mates 4WDing in the sand hills on Fb over the weekend. Half way in is a Landcruser stuck on the top of a sand dune, sitting on the transfer case with front and back wheels off the ground. My grandson to the rescue with his Landcruser. Snatch strap from tow ball to tow ball and snatch him backwards down hill. Shit I just can’t believe it after what I have said trying to help. But I’m just an old fart that doesn’t know how to have fun. I would put it up but I don't know how to cut the bit out of the middle of the video, and I'm sure you guys don't want to watch three hoons wrecking sand dunes for half an hour.

Sounds like a fair enough vent 4by4 , in the old days we didn't know better and wouldn't listen to advice like this anyway .
Hard lesson to learn if your towball snaps and someone gets badly injured or killed .

The danger, apart from the tow balls bit, is if you snatch a vehicle backwards down a soft sand dune, it may skew as it comes over and roll down on top of you. These guys are doing so many things wrong it's hard to understand how they survive. They also have the snatch strap doubled so the cars are closer together as there isn't enough ground for a straight run with full strap out.
