This place is flawed in a big way!!!

10 other rooms next to each other with other kids screaming. Waste of time!

A main door that everyone keeps slamming.

Waste of time, I don't know why LeAh didn't pull the pin earlier in the week.

I really don't get the logic behind taking your kid who doesnt get to sleep well, to a place they dont know, to try and get them to sleep. How do they expect that to work.

My kids weren't too bad at getting to sleep at home, but go away anywhere to stay, say bye bye to sleepy time

Yeah I'm sort of reading this sleep issue and it opens a whole new world to me. I've got plenty of kids (including twins) and we never had an issue. Now at the grandparent stage with 10 grand kids and they all sleep like logs. A couple of them lived in a caravan for over a year and then spent another three months touring in that and a roof top tent. No issues and when they stay at our place they go straight to sleep and we don't hear a peep out of them.
We never made any special effort to be quiet when the kids were young and the same is happening with the grand-kids.

I really feel for you guys with these sleep issues, looks like we really dodged a bullet.

Thanks guys, I was a bit shell shocked today.
Have spoken more to my son and he is having an op next Friday and if it has not spread everything will be ok and if it has spread he will need chemo.
Apparently it is probably one of the best cancer to get for making a full recovery and he is feeling very positive. He already has two kids too so not a worry if he cannot have kids after.

My daughter has written off her car but she is ok, just a bit sore.

Hi dave97,

I don't know anything about the company you mention but we've built a few homes with different builders, mostly good but a couple not so. One thing we learn't early was always get an agreed finish date and a liquidated damages clause if not completed on time. We also stipulated entry at any time for inspection during the build without prior notification. They don't like these but if they want the job they will agree, they tell you it's not possible but I've had none refuse.
As far as not following codes or practices go straight to your local council or building inspector. We had one case where they used a nail gun to to put up the brace boards on the frame and that structurally weakened it by almost shooting the nails through the boards. I gave them the option to fix it and when they didn't I called in the building inspector when they tried to cover it by commencing the brickwork. We had a bit of a standoff but the boards were replaced and nailed correctly. That and other delays cost the builder 12 weeks of liquidated damages, all delays were his fault as he took on to much work.

Remember you are paying good money for the build so you have the final say and don't let them try and put it over you. Just stay calm and document everything, I always followup a phone call with an email so there is no misunderstanding.
All the best and hope it works out to your satisfaction.

Thanks Apollofish this was the first time we built and we have learnt a lot about what to keep an eye out for next time, so just angry at the fact we paid good money for them on the belief that they were a great company to build with (their old reputation in SA is great, since they got bigger quality has dropped) they took 10 and a half months to build a house that looks like it was thrown together in a weekend, the bricks alone took 4 months to go up which if it looked good i wouldn't have minded but bricks aren't straight mortar gaps different sizes, the ceilings look shocking, the paint work is horrible, the plumping didn't meet code in regards excavation, they damaged our kitchen appliances when installing them the kitchen cupboards fall off and the list goes on, their quality manager when he came out tried to stand over me and intimidate me into dealing with it myself. ....consumer affairs are now dealing with it all coz i just can't deal with them anymore it's gutted us to spend good money building a family home thinking everything should be great and finding out it's below average.

My son got the results from his CT scan to see if his cancer has spread and it was all bad news, he has a very aggressive fast moving cancer that has spread to his lungs and stomach.
He is having more tests to see if it has moved to his brain and will be starting chemo on Thursday. After the chemo he will need multiple operations.
He has been told that even with best case he will have lasting effects such as reduced lung capacity.
Our whole family is absolutely devastated, my son is one of the nicest blokes you could meet and has a young family, he has to beat this.

That stupid blonde woman on teh Go back to where you came from doco. I had to turn the tv off she was getting me so angry.
Annd, i get a call from star track express today saying my cooler is ready for pickup at the depot as i missed the delivery yesterday. I go over there only to me greated by a fat and angry security dude having a cry that its not his job and he doesnt get paid to sign over parcels. He shuffles around in the office looking for my parcel, cant find it, so he rings the office, no answer, grabs a other phone and rings someone, no answer, socboth phones get thrown. The office calls and says they no nothing and dont know where the parcel is, i leave, get 15 minutes away, i get a call from them saying they now have it. I turn around, get nearly there, they ring again, sorry its not here.... I turn around again and head home, i turn into my street, guess who rings to tell me its there?

Mudski - I just got back from a drive after needing to walk away from the abhorrent racist narrow minded bigoted views.

So what has made me on the edge of completely losing it and succumbing to a total mental and physical breakdown culminated with the episode from tonight -
I essentially had to provide the counter argument as my wife is from racist parents and shares many of their views - where logic doesn't apply and the irony of the fact her parents are immigrants is lost. My 13 y stepdaughter needed the balance lest she too become lopsided.

Oh didn't mention that I got blind sided just over a week ago when mrs tells me she wants to separate so there is that influencing tolerance levels...

Nah no fault of CC at all. Just the mofos at Startrack express. Well the guy in the security office where you pick up the parcels from didnt leave a good impression. when i frist walked in and handed him the card he said im security and 1, its not my job to collect parcels, and 2, i dont get paid to do this either. That and him shuffling around and throwing the phones i was getting visions of me stabbing him in the jugular with the pen on the counter. Lol.
In the end, after three trips and four phone calls i have the cooler in the end.

Makes me quiet angry to be honest... You would think, that they would be very inclined to call as soon as the car is finished. And that way they get the car out of their hair quicker, as well as get paid quicker??? But no! Let's wait till closing / peak hour, until all of 15 customers rock up at once, and the place turns into bank on a pension day.

Yep I've had very similar experiences with mechanics as well - Last service I made a note of telling them I wanted to be updated at lunch on the progress of the service so that I could arrange pick up as I was spending the morning in the city - at 2pm I had to call them, only to be told it had been sitting there for an hour waiting!

On a more positive note, when I used to get my car serviced a Kmart they would always give me a call in the morning to let me know how the initial inspection when and then send me a text message when the car was ready for pick up.

New auto service center next door so I though I would give them a go. General oil and grease up and check over and fit the catch can i have not fitted for nearly 12 months. Sooo I just spent 2 hours removing the catch can and putting it on again with decent hose. the D$%^*s used food grade plastic hose so you could see how much oil was passing through. By the time I got it home last night and came in this morning, half the hoses had melted and the other hose had colapsed on the bends. How do they train these guys these days. Its not difficult. Anyway nuff said or I will have to start my own rant post.

Turns out the guy that worked solely on the car was new, had lied about his experience and wasn't supervised by the head mechanic - the new guy ended up getting fired (this wasn't his only stuff up it turned out) and head mechanic got a rocket up him!

Problem is, if it's kids like the police think it is, nothing will happen ( if they get caught) because of their age. Our society these days are too soft on them.

Called the diesel shop where they are rebuilding my injector pump and the works, only to find out they are still having problems with it hard starting. This is already a week past when they promised it to be done. Injector pump has been completely rebuilt and works fine on the stand but when they install it, it is hard to start. And this is supposed to be one of the best injector pump rebuild places in the city (official Bosch and Denso etc.). If I hadn't already put so much money into it, I'd consider throwing the whole thing in the trash and swapping in a TD42.

I feel for ya mate. The mob I'm contracted to now only hire almost non english speaking people, that have NFI on even how to inspect a bloody fire extinguisher. Let alone how to spot an RCD from a circuit breaker. I had to train this Philippino guy last year. At Epworth hospital too off all places. Hell of a nice guy, from what I could understand of him, and everything I told him, he just looked and nodded and said o.k. When I finally handed the reigns over, he just stood there like a stale bucket of piss.

Its already starting to cause customers to leave as my contractor often rings me to go fix the sh!t up. Seems everytime they ring I have left my care factor pants outside though.... Feb next year and I'm out for good.
This will eventually bight a few on the arse I reckon. Unfortunately, it might take a death before anything is done.

Almost did one of those flex shots about an hour ago on a Toyota Starlet!
Took off from the lights in the middle lane, this granny driving the yota on my left next to me, as we took off from the lights she decided to merge into the middle lane (my lane) and ran into me and pushed me half way across the right lane. She had no idea and kept driving so I followed her until she stop at a shop and confronted her. No damage to me apart from red paint on the side wall of the tyre, but she had a BFG AT tread up the right hand rear quarter panel. After pointing this out to her she denied it all even after I showed her I have it on camera. She called me a liar and said nice try son! And said that damage has always been there! WTF!
Atleast I have it on camera as proof incase she decides to do something which I doubt....
