Plan was to park the clubsport in the back, straight through the garage rear roller door and the Patrol and the wifes car in the garage. Looking at the width of the rear door I may only get my trailer though there.

Even the Patrol won't pass under the main roller door, may struggle without the rack as well.

The other day, while getting my work car serviced, I called into a fast food outlet and got brekkie.

OPIL's (Old People In Lycra) sat down near me, purchased food, brought their own food and did their own thing.

They left the table, leaving all their crap on it, and didn't blink an eyelid.

I was really ANGRY, and when the wait person cleaned up their mess I told her so. She said they do it every week! I'd be telling the OPIL's to DCM - with passion and meaning!

How are we supposed to respect these 'senior citizens' if they do stuff like that? It's not a good example to the younger generation!

Coles in town was bumper to bumper but managed to find the only vacant car park , getting out however was a bit more difficult because the Tautliner truck delivering ice managed to spear the side of the truck into the shade sail support bringing it down one side on top of a car the other side firmly embedded into the side of the truck .
Talk about grid lock .

SCA delivery arrived today.
1 item correct, 2 incorrect.
Rang them to get it sorted.
They told me to take them to a courier centre and post them back (at no cost, thank you SCA!!)
When they receive the items they will post the correct ones out.
My response, NO! I am not driving to a delivery centre and then waiting 2 weeks for you to get it right (maybe).
I have 3 sets of TREDS, my order was for a lot less. I will keep the them and give you 3 days to sort it.
Phone call came quickly saying I can exchange the items from my local store tomorrow once they are sent there.

Thinking I should have kept my mouth shut and sold the other pairs....

Just spent a couple days at Landcruiser Park. During the New Year's evening/night some brain dead moron decided to paint the inside walls of one of the facilities with his own excrement.
I cannot understand what a person must be thinking to decide that it would be a good idea to grab hold of his own shit and spread it around all the walls of the toilet and shower. Absolutely disgusted!
And there was quite a bit of other very poor behaviour demonstrated around the park, both on and off the tracks. The majority of visitors were great, but some sadly were not.

Seeing the last couple posts, I can't really complain as I am in good health etc. and there is more in life then just cars.
Just a short rant that my 4WD got stolen over Xmas, just when we had kitted it out for a big trip over Xmas and move to Melbourne. Even with insurance covering a big part of it, still losing money on it, not the mention the emotional value of years of saving and building it up to the point it was at.

First time I've been unable to call the electrickery supply company during an outage to report or find out why our magical outlets don't work. It has been the only real reason we've kept the landline as we used to have service during fires and such.

I got on their fb page and asked 'the' question, and they said ...

Hi Ten, we appreciate power outages are inconvenient, particularly in this heat. Today's outage was directed by the Australian Energy Market Operator and this event was as a result of a shortfall in power generation, and was not network related; unfortunately we are given little or no notice in these situations If you still do not have power, please call out 24x7 faults number on 132412.

There's a bit to it all , since Hazelwood closed which was twenty five percent of our generation which is a lot we have relied on wind and solar, both work ok under ideal conditions if it's windy and if it's sunny and not hot .
Unfortunately it's hot and not windy where it's needed so net result is blackouts , we now don't generate enough electricity to cover our needs and rely on Tasmania and NSW to get us through .
It's not going to get better it's going to get worse so buy a gennie and get some wiring done so you can replace the grid with off grid .
Coal fired works ninety eight to ninety nine percent of the time but wind and solar low thirty percent on a good day and that's why the blackout .

was watching the news last night, mistake number 1.

There was a hijab / letterbox wearing woman that came to Australia with the express purpose of killing someone to give ISIS glory or something equally insane.

Anyway she stabbed this bloke she was staying with. But the bit that got me, was she was allowed to wear the hijab / letterbox in court. That is just not right IMO. If you break the law and appear before a court you should be made to be publicly recognisable.

This damn country is just too soft and obliging. If you break the rules, you lose the use of some of those rules.

This woman caused the fella significant wounds and traumatised his daughter, but oh no, we can't offend her by making her remove her hijab / letterbox in court. It's all just gone too far all this 'we must be considerate of others' crap.

And that's why watching the news is a bad thing.

Goin to have to look for a new job..... I work for a small family owned business. Only 4 of us, one rep, 2 internal guys and the accounts person who owns the company. I'm one of the internals, the other is the sister of the accounts/owner. Well the rep decided after 10 years to hand in his notice on Tuesday. The owner tells me on Friday that she's decided to close the business, not because of financial reasons but because the sister has now also decided that she's has had enough. She said that she doesn't want to go through the rigmoral of finding replacements, which is fair enough I guess but bugger me, it is a wee bit inconvenient, no nice pay out for me as have only been there 1 1/2 years........ Oh well, life goes on hey.

When I set my business up I had dreams of expanding it beyond just me. Didnt take me long to say bugger that considering all the hurdles put up against business owners. Now settled as a single-employee company. I turn over less than I could if I put people on but earn more than I would if I did, and more than I did working for the man. Unfortunate reality of employment laws. Sorry to hear your news Clunky but can sympathasize with the business owner.

Like I said, she says it's not a financial decision what so ever..... I guess I'm just a bit disappointed that they've decided to go this way, especially the sister. They want me to carry on with them for the next 2 months or however long it takes for them to sell their stock but motivation has been lost...... Anyway, it is what it is, time to move on

Had some concreters over the other day. They left all their rubbish behind.
That's OK guys, I understand, it really is very bloody hard to pick up your cans and milk containers and other crap and put it in your car. You can carry bags of cement on your shoulders but the bloody food wrappings are just too hard.

Unfortunately Kat its not that hard to get a complete multi repeat script filled all at once. A simple request along the lines of extended remote area journey or long overseas trip is all it takes. There is no compulsion on the pharmacy to deny a request unless they believe the patient may appear to 'unstable - sorry wrong word I am sure' but you get my drift. Additionally I don't know if all scripts are nationally tracked, hence a trip to a couple of different pharmacy's will work also in most cases I would think. Its annoying and in this case no doubt very serious - i hope she recovers.

I know it's pretty unwise to talk about politics and I want to stay neutral, I have no interest in debating 1 party Vs the other etc, but, is it just me thinking this or has Scott Morrison & the Libs lost the plot?

He was talking about people smugglers and boat people last night as if it that's front and centre of everyone's minds, maybe it is, but I don't think so.

Massive rain in Nth QLD, massive rain in California, exceedingly low temps in Chicago (-46 I heard with wind chill). Our country I'm sure is getting drier, NSW declared 100% in drought.

Prediction that all insects could be extinct in 100 years, if that happens, we'll be behind them. That's the beginning of the end of the planet's food chain.

But oh no, the scariest thing around is the few people that get here undetected in boats.

I must stop watching the news.

14 cents a litre dearer, how can that be?Diesel over here is almost always dearer at approx $1.36/ lt. ULP today is approx $1.16/lt, but tomorrow will start the cycle again and go up to around $1.40 and then get cheaper again each day. Hence the reason I drive around in a 3.5lt Petrol Paj instead of the Patrol.

Politics is a Dangerous subject in a Forum.

Politics is a global “reality” game generated by combined media groups. The original concept was for teams to create a series of plans based on a budget. The winning team was then given three or four years to see how many of the targets they could meet. The game has morphed a little so that the winning team now tries to implement any plan at all while under attack from all other competitors including their own team. I think that’s it.

The way I see it is that our elected members no longer see their role as a representative of their constituents in parliament, but as a representative of their party/consortium/faction/group/whatever to their constituents.
And we no longer vote for the best option - rather we are forced to vote for the 'least-worse'.

Public Health - what a minefield. I am hearing what you are saying load and clear; my daughter has progressed from within emergency response to the NDIS frontline to running assessment teams and is now working with federal agencies to first define then roll out policy and strategy, then provide training to regional support agencies. Its such a massive task with so many different needs and the challenges are this level are to try to capture as many people within the 'net' without too much compromise. the reality, at least from what i am hearing is that the push is manic to roll out something, even to 80%, and then let the ground support workers 'wing it' to fill in the gaps. This is a crazy strategy and my daughter is fighting the system, its early days, maybe the details will be better formulated for a wider demographic, but I doubt it. The pressure is enormous to roll out a system however there are simply not enough people who are both willing and suitably skilled to bring these service platforms to completion, at the required rate. She is going to be working with satellite groups physically from remote QLD/NT to Remote WA - its going to be highly taxing on her and her partner in the process - will see how long this craziness persists before she gets poached by another department and momentum will falter. Right now the NDIS is still in the frontline of the media, however I shudder to think what will happen to all this efforts when the next 'news grab headline opportunity project' emerges.

Not so much angry, just upset there is 33 separate bushfires all over the high country started by dry lighting.

I've been monitoring the Vic emergency map and some of them are getting serious and gaining momentum due to wind increasing. Nearly of them are far from being under control. :(

Yeh I've been following whats going on also, not looking good at the moment. I know with the majority of our fires in the Blue Mountains most emergency warning tend 2 go back 2 a watch and act overnight and then change back later in the day. Looked at Vics emergancy map at yesterday morning and this morning and its like they don't change from emergency overnight.

Brother just popped out of the bush after 4 days in Butcher Country, clear blue skies, no smoke, came over the hill heading towards Licola and the entire hill was alight in front of them. Rolled around it into Licola, 10 fire trucks there, and Tamboritha road closed as fires as close as 4klm from Licola. I think the fire fighters are at Licola to protect the town - no chance stopping this one, so I guess its going to be burning for a long while.

Get back to Darwin today and the new hire car is a Hilux!! Uncomfortable as anything it is. At least it isn't fitted with CVT which I loathe. Last week's car had CVT and felt like it was powered by a wind up rubber band. Absolutely aweful. My Xtrail at home is CVT also and it annoys me every time I drive it.

Absolutely fantastic in my Nissan Maxima. Dont know whether it is because of the 3.5 Litre Motor but it rocks in my opinion.

I hear lots of people saying how much they love their CVT but in my experiences I just can't stand it. OK so it's keeping the motor at lowest possible revs for whatever speed you're doing for fuel economy reasons, but when accelerating (and I drive conservatively so light pressure on the accelerator) it keeps the engine totally out of the torque band and they drive like a wind up toy. There's no feel to them IMO. If I need a little oomph I press the accelerator a little bit more. Nothing happens. A little bit more, nothing happens. A little bit more then she slides the ratios right back and revs up like a banshee. Autos just smoothly work up through the gears at the right revs and the right torque and up you get to speed nice and comfy. CVT...blah...

I'd be happy to see how yours goes though mate.

The cheek of some people...
In the spate of recent fires across a lot of Vic high country, and a lot of areas locked out, there is some arrogant self centred comments l across Facebook and other social media in regards to closures and the long weekend coming up.
Comments like "Why did they shut that track or camp ground , it's kilometres from the fires!?".
Or the one that ticked me right off I saw earlier ...
"Labour Day weekend coming up , ya recon they'd ramp up the effort a bit more to clean it all up ."

If this isn't spitting into the fireys or volunteers faces I don't know what is !

And to think the Myki system cost over $1.5b (yep, 1.5 BILLION taxpayer dollars) to develop! And now after 10 years they're talking of phasing it out. What a farce.

In Sydney you can still walk up to a ticket machine, swipe your credit card and pop, out comes ya ticket. Not that hard really.

Yeah I know the Opal is in operation but a couple of years ago I caught a train from the airport to Circular Quay easily with my credit card. And also from CQ to the airport so presumed the option was still available for tourists, etc. Might have been slightly dearer without the Opal card but was easy peasy.

My house is only the cnr of it that backs onto bush so not really flame zone but certainly ember attack, I only have about 15 thousand litres of water storage and have roof sprinklers, fire pump hoses etc, one neighbour that backs onto me has nothing but backs entirely onto the bush and my other neighbour that also backs directly onto the bush has an above ground pool at a rough guess 50 thousand litres of water and also has nothing in place if a bushfire comes through. End of the day because they wont protect themselves I'm more at risk :(

No time for for those complaining of limited access, they are more likely the ones that attempt to burn glass in the camp fires and leave there crap behind.

They would not have a clue of the hazards associated with a heavy fire state. Put them in a situation of driving down into a valley at night, timbered either side, dark with smoke and not being certain of what is ahead. Seen fireball of flame lift off the ground clear trucks and land a good 500m dowm wind and a new burn off it goes. They have no idea of how much effort is needed to black out a fire with timber involved (time and weather) they are a joke.

Who is looking after the volunteers backyard while they are on the fire ground or providing support.

Work.

I had to take my youngest to get a X-ray, he's been having light headaches after my wife got rear ended on Monday morning.

Did the right thing, rang up this morning told them that I'll be late, should be in around 10ish.

Walked in at 10.30. Saw my team leader and he's says to me, "oh I didn't think you were going to show up today and you know that you can't work Friday now ." Friday is OT. Dickhead in the office forgot to tell him.
No, everything OK, what happened, why are you late. Goes to show what his priories are.

I filled out the appropriate paperwork attached my certificate to it and handed it to the production manager who was talking to my team leader, he's asks what happened is everything OK? Team leader just stands there listening..

Their policy is if you take 1 hour or more of sick leave you are not allowed to work OT which is Friday only. If I had more sick days I would've taken tommorow off as well. Bunch of Unappreciative assholes, from the CEO down.

Problem is that he is that far up managements ass and doesn't know how to let go. I tried to work out why we were getting clamp marks on a cnc pipe bender by placing it over the clamp a repeating the process by hand, well no he ripped it out of my hands to do it himself and it's fine for him to hold you up and chat for 20 minutes about all the shit that he's got, it's the ants pants. but as soon as someone else stops and has a 2 minute chat you get death stares.

If you take time off to go see the doc during work hours where I work, they take that time from your annual leave. My warehouse guy had stomach cancer and had a lot of doc appointments before he had his stomach removed. Each time at the doc meant more time taken from his annual.
When he finally had the surgery, they took all his sick leave and annual leave and said mate you will be on Time off without pay. He tried to come back early but they wouldn’t allowed it.
At Xmas they shut down our operation for 3 months and some of us went without pay as we had used up our annual leave. Now they are closing us down permanently and old mate is now redundant
Lucky I am a rep so I can still work from home or on the road but can’t wait to find another job myself. These guys are real #%*+

It used to be a friendly family owned company but has been taken over by multinational and now everyone hates their job.Ha, funny that.

My company is that same. Was family owned for nearly 50 years ,now owned by a Malaysian group.
We have a no phone policy, break time only no exceptions. Security cameras inside the work area and not one pointing to the doors or outside.

Not quite 2 years and I've had enough.

Yeah we all get along good at my work. Everyone has their annoyances about one another, but we seems to just get past that and work pretty well together. Doesn't bother me too much anyway, Im employed to be in sales and out on the road. But they just keep dragging me back in and give me warehouse jobs to do. Lol. If they wanna pay me what Im getting to be a storeman, or warehouse person, so be it.

My current biggest work problem is the chair I'm sitting on today is giving me an actual real pain in the ask. Tomorrow it'll be something else as I work elsewhere.

It is SO easy and SO much cheaper to keep employees happy than to eagle eye watch over and monitor them.

A $25 6 pack of beer for someone will get you back several $1000s in improved performance. It's so darn easy, but so many people just do not understand that.

No doubt about that. Back in the 90's I was working rotating shifts in a manufacturing plant doing a really mundane job on a production line. I always did my best, but really I was just one of the minions along a long line of processes to spit a widget out at the end. Was a really boring job.

My team leader was a bloody nazi psycho who got kicks from taking his stresses out on those below him. Add that to a process job and there's not much fun to be had there. But one day the boss above my team leader came up to me, looked me in the eyes and sincerely said thanks for my good work. That made me feel absolutely bloody fantastic. Morale - through the roof.

A few years later (after I'd left that job) I was in a discussion with a bloke who managed quite a few people under him and I told him of the power of a proper "Thank You", and he said "So just upping the pay of my blokes has been a waste of time all these years?" I said that recognition was worth more to me at the time than a slight increase in pay. Now of course it depends on what the pay rise is. The last 10 years has been really hard on private sector employees, basically no real increase in pay above inflation (if even that). In my story, that personal approach and genuine thanks did so much more to my morale in a shit job than an average pay rise would have.

It's about recognition. Don't keep your workers thumbed down, pumping out a 100 widgets a day. Recognise their effort and let them know you appreciate their work.

You'll get 120 widgets out the next day.

Our boss does nothing but put people down and telling us how we are not suited to our jobs etc. gave me a 2 hour ass rip last time I seen him. No matter how you answer his questions, your wrong. I have over 30 years experience in my field from a sales rep to being a State Manager, but I’m useless and not suited for this current position as are most of our staff. The guy has me almost in tears as he just kept going on and on with his stupid big smile on his face.
It’s funny how the company has gone backwards in the 2 years he has been in charge. Most of us have been there a year or less. Promises us bonuses but never pays them. Doesn’t do anything at Xmas.
The latest drama for me is I work in section A of the company but I can sell parts from A&B but only get his recognition for A.
Recently I had a sales for $103,000 worth of product in A but only B had stock so I used their stock. I now don’t get recognized for that sale and the rep for B does.
We have all asked for the rules to be changed but the GM said he isn’t changing the rules for anyone. Like it or leave it. So why do I bother ?
Cant wait to hear his opinions of this months sales. Might have to educate him about Pineapples

so we get some limestone delivered. now we get the bill. they charge us $104 for an hour for the truck. I ask why when we live 3 mins from them. They say, we had to go to XYZ to get it for you. I say, lucky you didn't have to go to Sydney.

I shouldn't have to pay for them to get their stock in. We got 6 metres, the truck would carry at least twice if not 3 times that. Now I wonder are we subsidising their bloody cartage. Lucky we didn't get charged consultation fees when we rang up and asked about it.

Sounds like they are selling and not stocking the product - improves their cashflow position not having to hold stock, but the buyer pays the 'on demand' delivery cost. Somewhere along the line you have to pay for freight, its just more expensive doing a specific pick up of a small quantity than getting it bulk delivered to their doorstep. Annoying for sure but understandable.

Gas Heater played up week and a half ago.
The plumber we normally call out for the heater, whos been here a few times before isn't available until 2 weeks. Family cant go cold for 2 weeks. Or so I thought...
So I call up the Plumbing mob we used for our hot water unit and our evap on the roof, tell them the situation. No worries, They come out 2 days later... "Oh shit, we can't do that." Heater is under roof, double storey house. For some reason it's not within their code to fix heaters in this scenario... Even though i clearly told them what and where ! But, Ok . I'm not a plumber so i dont know their rules and regs. I won't blame them one bit for not putting them selves in a non safe scenario. That's all fair enough.
But , The same mob were there months ago fixing our evap unit, which is 2m away from the gas heater. All you gotta do is move a few roof tiles and you're there. That's how the original heater gas plumber access it every time. Due to Design of our roof. You can't go through the man hole and get to the heater. Too tight to ever crawl to it.

So i get in touch with a few more I quickly googled locally. And it's been promises of arrival for a week now. It's like pulling teeth and asking them to come doing it free of charge!
I swear, I even told one bloke, I dont care what you charge me. Just come fix it and charge me double if you want! Ok, ill be there 10am tomorrow... This was last friday. No show.

At this rate, I should have just booked the original bloke, and the 2 weeks wait would have been quicker and easier.

Similiar tale of woo. Gas ducted heater located in roofspace dies, so find the company who are recommended for the job, their sales guy comes out, yep models x,y, z all do the job, just select the 'start rating' which basically put a zero on the end of the price with each level jump! Access into the roof via upstairs bathroom wall door, onto well lit fixed roof duckboard walkway. 'How are you going to get the unit into the roof as door too small?' Lift off a couple of tile is the answer, ok, so the unit will slip between the roof trusses? Yeah all good, checked it its tight, but we can do it. "so how do you get the unit up there - is this going to need a crane or similar - 'Nah, all good, we do this all the time.

OK, so they set up a time, trades arrived on time, have a look and then the truck arrives with this big arse industrial sized unit, which is whats in the roof. Lots of sideways glances and posturing etc. Unit gets removed from truck using Hiab and dropped on nature strip. This thing is BIG. I go outside as I wasnt going to leave whilst they were in the house, and two guys on phone, raised voices. Foreman comes over and says the sales guy has screwed up and they will need to remove tiles, cut roof truses - 2 trusses, get a crane, drop it into the roofspace, then 'I' have to get an engineer to resolve the strength issues with the roof loading as the integrity has been destroyed, all 4 weeks after I have spent 30K getting major works completed on the roof.

I say you can sort that out as its within your scope - mexican stand off, which by now there is a huge hole in the roof where the tiles have been removed. Anyway, its 3pm by now, 6 hrs later, still nothing. Decision finally made to cut roof trusses, I design up a suitable brace during the impass, have to go to Bunnings and buy the wood myself, then they want me to install the brace and cut the truss - unbelievable. Finally they cut the truss, but have not ordered a crane, so 5pm by now, time to go home - gaping hole in roof, new heater on the nature strip, middle of winter in Melb, but dry.

Finally they 'find/discover a way' to get the unit onto the roof and into the space. dark at 6.15pm, so they are now working with head torches. Pack up at 7pm, leave job after installing tarp and return next day to complete job. I had to install the splice plates and make them for the trusses.

Bloody plumbing sales guys and their sacrificial contractors - comedy of errors, lost 2 days wages and then had to do 10% of the job myself - oh, and they tried to hit me up for extra labour/time due to the tricky installation - pound sand you clowns, go away, or words to that effect - family friendly site this is. Geez mate your scenario is a nightmare compared to my dilemma .

The more frustrating thing is the fact I know what part is stuffed and i can walk 500m from my house to a HVAC parts place and get it in 5 minutes. It's such a simple job. Would literally take them 5 minutes to do.
Would take longer to get the ladder off the van..

I can replace it my self as it's an electrical component . but I'm not a gas plumber and don't want to mess with it.

Sales guy refused to return to site. The job didn't cost ME any more (apart from the lost wages, which of course never comes into the equation!)but I suspect the sub contractor clipped the supplier company pretty hard. Have been chasing the camp Superintendent about two big floodlights that are supposed to light up a carpark - we are up and mobile at 4.30am, - and the lights are fixed for a day then off again. After 5 maintenance requests and escalation to site management, turns out the lights have a local on/off switch, so someone in the top camp is turning them off, no doubt because they shine into their room - windows are fitted with heavy reflective thermal curtains etc - anyway, instead of putting in a notification to realign the lights they turn them off - even the camp electrician didnt know about the local switch - like, who put a local switch on a PE cell light pole - stupid stupid stupid.

Got the Hema back from repair and tested it out on the way to puzzle bend ,lasted until I switched the ignition off .
Came up with the usual message about power disconnected then a dialogue box super imposed over that saying something about the battery and everything then went to rainbow coloured lines .
Have had the cords tested ,the GU tested and the power bank tested as well as the GQ so I'm pretty confident I've got an $800 lemon .
Oddly enough I fired my old VMS up and it works just like new .
