Paul mate,

Like I've been telling you Write that Book! I'd buy it (and come up to get it personally signed), and I'm sure many other members would buy it as well.
Sure you don't want to live in Ballarat? much cooler than your neck of the woods.

Cheers
Jack

G'day folks,

What made me happy today were all the kind thoughts that forum members placed on the “What has made you angry today” thread on the weekend for my family’s loss of a grate family friend Gordon Quinton!

The funeral on Monday was a somber affair as funerals goes, it was held at Barnes funeral parlor in Ballarat in Victoria. What a Farken freezing cold shit-hole of a place, lol.

I arrived in Victoria on Saturday evening, beautiful whether conditions, 27 c The drive back to Geelong went well, it was great to see Victoria so green, the last time I was down the place was so brown and desolate looking. Sunday was a fine 29 c overcast day.

Woke up Monday morning for the day of the funeral, farken freezing cold 12 c, pissing down with rain. I literally froze my bollocks off! The drive to Ballarat from Geelong was bleak and cold, typical funeral whether, arrived at the funeral parlor and literally walked into a disaster, both my dad and I were wearing black suites with white shirts and tie, as I attempted to get out of the passenger rear door, I slipped and fell which caused my shit-bag to let go. Instead of looking like someone in attendance for a funeral, i resembled the local shit-house cleaner covered in shit!

Fark me swinging trendsetters, I had to suddenly bolt to the handicap toilets keeping pressure on the bag so it wouldn't further leak. What a total fark-up I am saying myself. To make things worse, I forgot to bring my change bag which was extremely embarrassing, no new shit-bag, no change of clothes. Fark at one stage I even thought of jumping into the coffin with Uncle Gordon!

The funeral parlor staff was fantastic; they gave me a couple of tea towels and a role of gaffer tape. With the funeral now delayed, I bolted back into the handicap toilets, stripped off, packed the shit bag with the tea towels and with gaffer tape, taped myself up! I came out of the toilet looking like pregnant women!

For the first time everyone was laughing even if it was for a short period time, Gordon’s four daughter’s stated to everyone that Uncle Gordon would have been laughing his head off by my actions! (At least i was providing the entertainment.) With the service finally underway, it was back to being grim and sad faced. Then my dad got up to read the eulogy and soon has my dad started to cry the whole chapel broke into tears including yours truly!

After the service, we attended the family wake in Dereel south of Ballarat another isolated lonely place far from civilization, (you have to be a special person to live in remote areas, i could not live there.) Time and time again the topic came up about Gordon and my exploits of getting into the water with crocodiles. Typical poms at the time, we were so gullible to the outback folks, a couple of locals told us "as soon as you shoot a croc you have get into the water and tail rope the buggers before they sink".

The following day when were at the local pub bragging about the two crock that we shoot, we thanked this farken idiot for giving us (what we thought was good advice) The publican farken read us the riot act, “you stupid pommy bastards, you don’t get into the water with the farkers” you motor up on them with boat and then tow them back to the bank"!

I remember my dad and Gordon trying to punch this fellow, to the blokes credit he shouted us beers and the whole pub had a laugh at our expense.

Thanks Gordon Quinton for the great memories, I will never forget you mate!

Regards,

Paul

We'll mate it seems like it was an up and down day. It's good to get people laughing, even though at your expensive.
Never nice or easy saying goodbye.

Know how you feel mate. Mine lived up at Port Hedland for nearly three years and only saw her and the two grand kids twice in that time, once was for the funeral of my dad. Moved back down early this year to have a third grandchild, unfortunately looking at heading back due to work situation. Couldn't get much further away from Ballarat than Pt Hedland.

Enjoy the trip and make the most of it.

Went through a self serve at the supermarket yesterday with stuff for my baby's 23rd birthday dinner last night, Took out and extra $100.00 for the weekend club trip and.......... left it there.

Realised when I got home 2 hours later. Shizzzen.

Today I did the payment entry in my computer, I had selected credit card instead of cheque and it didn't approve the withdrawal.

You bloody beauty. I am happy today...

Certainly will TPC, it’s with mixed feelings we are selling, have been here 18 years. Unfortunately the asking price is about right, the things which made it desirable for us are the things that keep it’s price down. 30kms from the nearest town (Traralgon), with basically just bush between the town & us, including 8.5kms of winding dirt road, & the ony services we get are the road being graded & roadside verges cut once or twice a year. Drive down the hill to where the bitumen starts & 5 acre blocks sell for more than we can expect. In our opinion having the space, being able to watch Wedge tail eagles out of the kitchen window, the peace & quiet & seeing all the other wildlife that we do more than makes up for not being able to nip round the corner for a carton of milk or a Macdonalds death burger........ but I think a lot of folk are put off by the first pothole or corrugation in the road. We have to find buyers who are looking for what we were looking for.

Ps. no shortage of 4wd tracks within a stones throw. ;)

very jealous mate. how much you paying and for what bandwidth if you dont mind me asking?

We are with iiNet, have been for over nine years. I was paying $99.95 per month for ADSL2+ 200Gb quota and home phone plus calls. I was getting download sync speeds of 9000kbps before they upgraded all the pits in our street, then it went down to 4500kbps. But no more!!!!
Now I have 200Gb, 50/20Mbit plan with phone for $84.90! Went down the Voip track for the phone this time as its $9.95 for line rental intead of $24.95.
iiNet were trying to get me to go the 1TB plan as they said I will use the 200Gb quick. But I won't be downloading anymore than I used to, I just don't have to wait as long.
Just downloaded Skyfall, now, 7.55Gb file in under an hour. That used to take me around six hours.

Not sure yet, not looking seriously until we have a buyer. May have to live in our bus for a while with our belongings in storage somewhere if we don’t find a place within the settlement period of our place here. Gotta get a buyer first, & country places like this can take a while to sell. Central Vic goldfields hold some appeal, but where we end up will probably depend where we find a property which meets our needs, & that we can afford without borrowing & has employment opportunities for MrsTea. The last point pushes prices up as it means having to be in commutable distance from a major centre with comprehensive health facilities rather than visiting services. There’s a place in Wedderburn, Vic (don’t recall ever having been there) which looks like it would suit, but it’s 75kms each way to Bendigo which might be a bit too far for a daily return commmute. Shame because it has a humungous shed with concrete floor & power ( & big enough for an articulated truck) that I’m in love with. Most likely we will remain in Vic just because the logistics are easier. Don’t have any desire to live anywhere where we have immediate neighbours i.e.. in a town. We are to used to having no neighbours in view, & I like having the freedom to pee where & when I want, or to use noisy tools in the workshop at whatever time of night takes my fancy without needing to have regard for the needs of others.

I went for the Oztent king Goanna in the end, also looked at the King Kokoda which has the aluminium arm rest but for me, I preferred the normal material arms rests on the Goanna, it also has a higher back on it....... Both are pretty damn comfy though. Stropp got the King Kokoda

I happy because I'm having my first beer since three weeks ago thanks to a quick cash job this morning. Been tough as I used to drink a couple every night followed by a glass of red, but owning a business and having non paying clients have made it very, very tough as of late. Its time tonight for me to forget about worrying when and how the kids christmas is going to be paid for.
Cheers everyone.
