What do they sting you for the rebuild down there?

And what turbo did you end up using

What do they sting you for the rebuild down there?
Complete with blue printing, head work, 12mm pump, injectors, turbo, water rail, their water pump, machining and labour and whatever else they did is 13k'ish. One of the large costs was the balancing and bluprinting. A necessary evil is suppose.
I jokingly had a go at him as they didnt even paint the exhaust manifold, and its got surface rust on it already. Ill take a can of paint in for them tomorrow as a hint. Lol.
As for the turbo ben im shit house with the numbers but he did mention a while back of a gtx3074 or sometihng like that. He was talking about so many things it just went over my head.

Woohoo! How long until you are driving do you reckon?
Well, if everything works, i.e loom works, starts and runs, i dont see theres a crap load to do. The longest bit would be removal of the anchor, cut and then reweld the new mounts. Pretty meuch everything else is either already in there, or sitting in boxes in the back of the car. All oem fits parts so.... Dunno. They know i need it run in and ready for the school holidays as we are driving up to the gold coast. So in my head im thinking if they go at it and dont stop until its done they could do it witihn a week. But my last thought on how long it would take to build the motor blew out by about 4 weeks. So who knows.

Fcuk thats a good price. Thats what mine came up at without turbo, pump, cooler etc and I spent 30-35 hours doing the porting myself

What turbo, what did they do to the head, do you know who accurate the balancing is?

Do you know what power you'll be achieving

He said they'll tune it to 140'ish, but when the motor is run in well they'll re tune it for more, around the 160 mark or more. I'm tipping I'll be happy with 140 though.
There it goes, good bye ZD30, helloooooo TD42T!

Probably, but its not all about peak power, torque is what I really want. For towing. I'm no expert at these motors, so we'll see. I don't think I will be disappointed though.

Funny story actually... I actually have the Friday before off too.
Work is making us take our 4 weeks leave per year and I had 6 days left over so just picked a random week (this was back in january) and the party just happened to fall on the perfect date!

Geez that worked out well then! I'm being made to take leave this year as well, getting too close to the 8 week limit. No camping or 4wding though unfortunately, taking the family to Merimbula for a few nights in October

100% agree on that one, there are two loose in our court and I'm considering trapping them and dropping them into the RSPCA. That way I'll see how loved they are by there irresponsible owners.
Owners can consider themselves lucky we live in a built-up area, I showed no mercy when we lived in the country.

Might upset a few people but I don't believe there is any reason to have a cat in Australia.

I'm not a huge fan of cats but I know people who have cats that are locked in the house 24/7 and that is fine.

The devastation they cause on wildlife is astronomical.

Was sitting down having a bite to eat and a coffee at a local shop today.

I noticed a guy walking along the footpath head down, playing with his phone, and another guy walking in the opposite direction doing the same.

The result was they both collided. Wife and I pissed ourselves laughing.

Over the years I have seen the odd person walk into a pole, but never seen a head on.

Good stuff mudski.

Does that 3" inlet pipe step up to 4 at the turbo or is the inlet only 3" on the turbo?

If theh have used a garrett based turbo they have a very distinct sound.

Heater hoses will take a a couple of hours Irish. Unless you drink beer with it, then its one rotation of the screw driver to undo the hose clamps to every mouthful...

One is power and the other is torque

The top line looks to be torque. By the look of it you still must have the zd30 airbox??

No its the oem air box with the high flow lid on it. It was what i had before with the zd.

Have you thought about replacing the airbox with a higher flow 4 inch air box? Personally I think it should be changed sooner rather than later, the gtx 71mm compressor moves an immence amount of air. A huge amount more than the zd airbox can flow. You'll find that the turbo is working so hard for its air through that airbox that it is wasting energy in order to get it. Having the 4 inch airbox and pipe from snorkle to turbo (remember the 3071 has a 4 in intake) will help. As a result you'll see an increase in engine responce. Note that your torque climbes quickly on that graph (good) to a high amount (even better) but drops nearly as quick as it climbs (not so good). A big contributor to that sharp drop off is the intake. Changing it will help to level it out and extend that torque band, there are many other factors too, but I wont go into them now as I'll let your boner wear off about this motor
This is by no means critisism of your setup. I have had a big garrett on a 42 for a few years now. You, a few days. There are alot of things that need to be done to compliment the few things they do really really well

Yes I have thought about replacing the air box, snorkel and pipe. But I kinda run out of funds so its the last thing on my mind at the moment. Something I will get to though.

Any reason the run was not done in 4th gear?

No Idea sorry.

Took it for a run today. Dropped past AB's to pickup some stuff and show it off. Then went on to Marysville. Anyone who's driven out there knows the big long hill climb a few k's before you hit the town. Steep and long. Well I drove it like i was going downhill. I hit the bottom of the hill at around 65k's in 4th, at the top I was doing around 120 in 5th. Lol. The ZD would have been back to 3rd and revving its tits off at 50.
One thing I don't like about the large top mount cooler. Is the induction noise thats passing through the cooler, I can hear it through the firewall. When you've got your foot down you really hear it.
