Was pretty much convinced the best I might see was 13-13.5 L per hundred. Topped up to first click. 17.25 litres. WTF.
That works out at just under 11.7 litres per hundred k.
All I can put it down to is moderate giggle pedal application and the W2A IC. Max egts I have seen, towing, 350. Cannot get the coolant temp over 80.

Up in the Territory about 50% of my cable outages were caused by Greek Termites...
They are bloody insatiable especially for optical fibre

Just found this on my computer...lol
One of our first forum meet ups at Loveday 4wd park in South Australia many many moons ago!
It was a mud fest and my radiator fell apart and alternator died.
Had a 10 hour drive back home, no charge to battery, turned everything off, car overheating and the last leg of the trip I had 4 volts on the battery.
This reminded me of the signals I was doing to people behind me, wrong I know but I had minimal options and just wanted to get home.

Sounds familiar, my first visit to Loveday my radiator blocked up and alternator stopped working.
I pulled my alternator apart while I was there and got it working again, was just mud in the brushes.
Got as much mud out of the radiator as I could while there and pulled it out to clean it properly at home.
Learnt my lesson that week, never play in Loveday mud.

After surgery, it's 2 weeks in the big smoke on sick leave! What more could a man want?
Seriously, as long as I manage my pain properly until I fully recover, I'll be fine.

WOO FARKIN' HOO!
After some 15 months moving in, and 15 months of fighting the council, paying thousands to useless lawyers, and endless stress of the entire ordeal. ITS all over! We now have storm water that drains from our block to where its supposed to go. The plumber came in last week and had to dig up our bitumen driveway to access the easement to re route the stormy pipe. The plumber did so well he managed to only dig up the edge of the bitumen, so no ugly trenches like we first thought.
Thursday and Fridays downpours all went where they should, not like before and over flowing with the lightest of showers.

Yeah time flies... we haven’t got the bill from the plumber yet so once we get this and pay it. It’s officially over. A days work with a mini excavator involved shouldn’t be a massive bill. Lol. Ah well. This will push our out of pocket costs into five figures I guess. I’m not to concerned though. It’s done! Going camping this weekend to relax.

Hodgey, yes needed to get the reach into the centre of the building, had transformers on the ground that we could not lift over without shutting them down, so went with a lift plan for the extended fly and the crane guys were fantastic as usual, spectacular in fact. I was on the roof with the doggie and when the load stopped, it was 'bouncing about 25mm - just nice and slow but understandable that the spring was there. Luckily wind was circa 3klm/hr and at first light, removed the old coil and slotted the new one in.

Yay!
After 5 years of blaming my cheap Pioneer radio for the interference it was causing on my CB I finally found the real culprit.
The new Icom 450 went in today after we had found the source of the interference, replacing the failed POS Uniden unit.
The bloke doing the install didn't sound at all confident about finding the source of the interference & if it had been the Pioneer unit I was going to replace it with a GME FM radio he had in stock.
After disconnecting the Pioneer completely from power the interference was still present - not guilty yer honour.
All the young bloke did was to move around with a handheld CB to see if the volume of the interference changed/increased .... & quickly determined the source of the noise was inside the cab. Just a matter then of disconnecting things until the interference ceased.
Lo & Behold - disconnect the rear view monitor & the loud Shhcrchhhhhhhh changed instantly to silence. Woohoo.
Over the years I have talked to many folk about the possible causes of the interference which rendered the Uniden pretty much unusable, including ham radio experts with diagnostic gear & all it took was a young fella with enthusiasm & a hand held CB!
The Icom, with a speaker in the handpiece + an extension speaker next to my right ear is clear as a bell. I wont be using it except when we are travelling, & when travelling the rear view monitor only shows the front of the Tvan & is easy to connect/disconnect so all good. I may eventually try to find an interference free monitor but can get by with it as it is with no hardship.
I'm glad that POS Uniden died. (If there are any masochistic electronics tragics who might have a use for a CB with a non functional display let me know before it goes in the bin).

Seems like weather was on your side.
Boom flex effect is always there, you'll always get some bounce no matter how slow the rope motor brake is.
If you ever get a chance stand directly behind crane inline with the boom and have a look up along the boom, it's amazing how much banana effect there is on a boom extended that far. Even without a load.
Up on the towers, we usually see the very tip of the boom, fairly close above our heads. And quiet often you see the boom sway left/right or up down depending on load, and you think , why is he pulling joysticks even hes meant to be stopped. But it's just the boom flex effect, sometimes takes a while to settle.

Running creek mate. Funny thing happened not long after that pic was taken. On the other side of the river, to the left out of the pic, maybe 10 metre further in behind the bushes in another camp ground which had two people camping there. So Eric and I are sitting there and every 30 seconds or so I hear a pop, zing and I here the bushes behind me move. I get up walk over to the bushes and investigate. I hear the pop again, this time the zing goes straight past my head. I'm thinking what the hell is this sound. I sit back down and hear the pop, zing and see the bushes move again. I then realise the campers across the river were shooting an air rifle.
So I jump in the Patrol and scream across the river and pull up in there camp. The rifle no where to be seen but a stack of cans on a stump and their camp chairs positioned so they would be facing in our direction. So pretty much after that I lost it and told the guy he's a fuckwit and to use his brains and shoot towards the hill they are camping right next too. His response. The air rifle cant shoot that far. Now my car was parked within maybe two metres of where the pellets were zinging past. I said to him if one of them had hit my car I would have broken his legs. I left it at that and hurled off back to camp.
Needless to say they packed up and left in a hurry.
Other than that, we had an absolute cracker of a time!!!

No excuse for what they were doing I would have got their rego and rang the coppers , maybe even rang the coppers said you were being shot at and were taking shelter behind the car ,would be ace to see the cops in military gear storm their camp at gun point .
Pricks like that make it harder for those of us that do the right thing .

Once borrowed a mate's sluggy to try to take care of some pigeons taking over my yard. Set up a target to dial it in, and after putting a hole in the target and straight through the fence behind it thought hmmm maybe this aint the best thing to be using on a suburban block!!

That is a very scary thing to have happen. I can understand your response, but it would really shake me up I reckon. I would have probably put a round back in their direction , well out of harms direction from my 45-70 - that would certainly be a redneck reaction but probably well deserved.

Jesus Muddy that’s full on !!!!! Now even more so I wish I’d got my weekends right & been there - I would’ve gone off like a frog in a blender at old mate . Actually probably best I wasn’t there cos I would’ve torn their camp apart till I found the rifle then wound up & wrapped it around his head . Whilst that would’ve been quite theatrical it may not have been ideal .

Yeah I did have a about ten seconds of thinking maybe theres someone hiding and taking pot shots at us before I got in my car and went over, and realised it was just two people with not a lot of brain matter between them, and their actions weren't intentional. Just stupidity...

Haha! We used to do this when I was a kid, but with the Indian Miners. Being a wog, my dad had the massive vegie patch and the wine grapes. The birds loved the grapes so our after school fun was taking out the miners, sniper style.

To me it sounded like they were breaking twigs for fire wood or something... It was hard to tell as they were across the river behind the bush.
Then when Mark said it was air rifle it made sense ... The f*****g thing whizzed past his ear.
Next thing you know there is a white angry patrol roaring across the river. Mark gave them an earful. Idiots.
Other than that . Top little getaway. Scored a great spot, weather was tip top the whole weekend. Million star view at night.
On the way home as scooted across mt Stirling to Craig's place ...

Happy - hell yeah! Dream come true!
Anyone who's read about our travel plans will likely recall my wife & I's hope to find a little slice of Kimberley heaven in which to spend the 2018/19 wet season.
We had put out a few feelers out, but had been getting little back & had almost resigned ourselves to getting up there later in the season with fingers crossed that something might turn up once we were there.
This afternoon that changed ..... and how!
Last week we wrote to friends of friends who own a small 'eco-resort' up near the top of the Dampier Peninsula (180kms north of Broome), offering ourselves as off-season/Wet season caretakers & they have said "Yes". Wooohooo!!!
Details yet to be sorted out, but it now looks like we will be spending 6 to 8 months in what , given a choice, would have been at the top of our list. We have been dancing around our living room & can't stop grinning stupidly at each other.
Not only does it give us the opportunity to experience a wet season in the Kimberley (personal bucketlist item), but it also adds structure to our forthcoming journey. Until now our focus had been mainly on crossing the western deserts, an adventure in itself, but now the crossing has purpose. In addition it will enable us to build on the connections we made with folk when we were up that way back in 2009, some of whom are related to the owners of the place we will be looking after.

So maybe 4 or so months back I get a speeding ticket. Apparently doing 80 on the Western ring Rd when it was 60. I was adamant that it was never 60 there. There was never road works on this stretch on the road, there was a k or so prior to where the camera is located. Knowing I will just be pissing against the wind fighting it, as they provided me with photographic evidence of me there and then a separate pic of the speed sign. I said this pic could have been taken at any time, even when there was a time stamp on it. This just did not sit right, I knew I wasn't speeding. But I took it on the chin and paid the $317 fine.
Well I received a cheque today in the mail for the said speeding fine I paid. They did NOT however, say it was for their error. Just, The attached cheque for $317 is a refund paid of monies paid on obligation 173379xxxx.
Feck! We do win one occasionally.

FWIW myself and 20+ others went to court over the Eastlink-Wellington Rd camera for nabbing us all at exactly 10kmph over within a say few seconds time period. Judge agreed that we were all good honest people and appeared also amazed that it wasn’t just coincidence that unorganised we were all fighting it that same day. We were all waived having to pay the fine but the Judge more or less apologised that he had no power there and then about demerit points. That’s where I’ve been carting out of , last week I unloaded at swifts creek & came over the top of Hotham & in the top of the Dargo high plains rd to our job - fairly rocky & rough , I smile to myself when I pass low late model cars heading nth out of Dargo - quite often not to long after I see them in the mirror following me back down the mountain - it must be terribly rough in a car as it’s rough enough in the truck with big tyres let down to 30psi .

Yeah. The roads were worst I’ve seen in a while.

I worked 8:30 to 4:30 once...
Didn't like it at all, so I got a Gubbermunt job.
I look at it this way.
The Australian taxpayer pays my Salary.
I used to be a taxpayer.
I therefore used to pay my Salary.
In Australia the boss is the person responsible for your salary.
Ipso facto I must have been my boss.
I say must have been because I don't pay Tax anymore.
Thanks be to God for being over 60 and the Tax minimisation avenues available in this lucky country.
However... 'cause I haven't replaced myself yet I must still be my Boss (acting, unpaid).
As my Boss is acting, unpaid there is no way he is going to replace me unless he gets paid.
So until I replace myself I work for a few hours every second Wed arvo prior to Payday.
I have to do that to make sure the smarmy bugger at Payroll doing my Pay isn't over 60 and was his Boss as well.

My operation was a success and I'm finally back home in rural WA, sleeping in my own bed, with my own pillow. lol.
I had to stay in Perth for 2 weeks to make sure everything went ok.
In 4 weeks, I'll be eating 'properly', and ATM, it's one step at a time.
