Using binoculars, I was watching a ship exit Portland harbour and I saw a Gannet dive into the water and come up with a fish. Man! They hit the water at high speed!

But it has a rear flu port which is bolted shut..
I thought it was poor cast but turns out it's rust.. so as its heated up it all fallen out..
So now to let it cool.. remove the bolts, re seal it and bolt it up again..

Drove the fatty today after doing the diff and no noises or quiet humming coming from the rear. Yay! Its amazes me how noisy that diff must have been, as now when I drive the back streets I always take to avoid the busy road, I can actually hear the rabbits change their mind when they attempt to cross the road.

The chassis twisting roar of that thing would make anyone think twice about stepping onto the road. . Let alone the bunnies.

I must take your car for a drive one day. As I still have never driven a near stock TD for a driven for a comparison. I went straight from the ZD into this. I realise the difference between the two would be different, but nothing compared to what those QLD'ers are used too. Mine would be stock for them.

About 700 from ground to top of flue. Mine has short legs where most of em are a lot longer..
Yea you can still buy em.
Local fire shop has one on the floor for $750. Has made working out what I need to do very easy..
I paid $50 for mine.. well in front imo.

Cool. Just asking because those needle valves are junk. Not saying it because they're my opposition. Those valves are $5 chinese specials. I went through a heap of valves years ago trying to find one that worked and didn't leak or lose adjustment. That valve was the worst out of all of them.
Funny on the price too. Exactly the same as what mine sell for.
Let us know how you go with it all, I've only spoken with a handful of people with these valves. I might have to hit them up and see if they'll let me sell them. That'll confuse the hell out of people. Lol.

Time to change your avatar too mate. Or is it in remembrance?

Yea I guess price has to be the same due to them being the same thing lol..
Tbh I wasn't going to run the needle.. might see how it goes shut off to start with.
My only concern is highway psi.. factory it use to sit on 13 - 15psi at 110 which is basically ecu max..
Most say they see a bit less with no needle.. but im going to fit it so I can fine tune it..

And yea a bit early.. Bloody miss it ey.. get a small knot in the guts when I drive past the old q..

Even wife said we'll get another one one day.. comp ute maybe.. doubt it but let a boy dream ey..

Those cheap Chinee ones can be had for $5 delivered from China too. Don't know how they do it. The Tognella needle valves, Italian made ones, are around $70. Big price difference, but I have everything here from the $5 to the Togenlla and bought 5 others in between this range and tried them all. The only one that came close was the Ingersol Rand needle valve, but the drawback was its size, and the entire valve was plastic. Other than that it was a pretty good valve.

Kallen, use the needle valve mate with the Tillix. The Tillix will only cap the boost pressure, nothing more, the needle valve lets you control and adjust your cruising boost levels. These two valves go together well, like a piss and a fart.

For a needle valve it's very touchy lol...
Was playing around last night and when drawing a breath threw it it went from nothing to what felt like no restrictions in maybe 1 & 3/4 turns...
Now I know why they say small increments..

And I'd have a guess and say that's where it's "you get what you pay for".

Ringwood and Croydon are both good areas. ( Most of the eastern suburbs are pretty good )

Ringwood is about 40 minutes on the train from the city, and around the same outside of peak times in the car .... peak times you can double that to around 1 hour 15 minutes.

Croydon is around 50 minutes on the train ....

Yeah that's kinda how we settled on those areas, mainly because of public transport distance etc. It also looks affordable and a nice suburb

Yeh spot on with travel time / unless she needs her car for work in the cbd, she'll definitely want to be taking public transport. Paying for parking, plus tolls, plus peak hour traffic getting into the city would be a nightmare!!

Also keep in mind Ringwood east and if $$ are an issue, you can look a little further south towards Bayswater / boronia -- not as nice suburbs, but no major issues like Mudski and hodge get in the northern suburbs

I found my drill bits!!!!!! A small face palm moment... They were at the bottom of the linen basket in the laundry. Lol. I must have grabbed them, and took them inside when I was doing the bathroom reno's and put them on the laundry bench right above where the linen basket lives. And they obviously fell into the basket at some stage. Got me worried for a bit. I started to make sure nothing else was missing from my garage yesterday.
Atleast I found them before I went out and bought another set.
Having said that, I must be more diligent when people come over to pick parts up.

Yeah i know, It was just an assumption brother. but its a force of habit really from working in the transport industry for 20 years where I would experience theft weekly. Actually last Saturday I experienced it again, as I still work on weekends at my old workplace to help them out, I got a call from someone wanting 20, 20ltr drums of oil. They gave me credit card details over the phone to pay for it, it wouldn't work, they guy kept lowering the amount of drums until it would go through. He then sent someone in to pick them up, I asked for a drivers licence, he said he doesn't have one, although he was driving, not a minute later we get a call from the credit cards bank saying this is a fraudulent transaction! That was quick! So I said to the guy to get me some ID. He quickly took off as I think he knew we were onto him. Rang the cops and we let them do the rest.
I have sh!t everywhere in and out of the garage at the moment as we are madly trying to finish off our house to sell it. We are sleeping in the lounge room at the moment and our house looks like we are moving out now there so much stuff everywhere.
I can't wait until the day i have finished and its time to bring a skip in. My backyard looks like a car wreckers yard at the moment, and the garage is not fairing so good either. I so need a big shed, instead of a dunny for storage. Lol.

They're alright the mother-in-law can waffle on a little bit and the father in law doesn't mind a drink, but we need to do this.
Going to be hard to leave a home that has everything and one that we built to stay in for many more years, it's bordering going in the angry thread or depression thread.

Lol.

Hmmm, dodgy buggers, don't worry i probably would have done the same! ! (Accusing someone not the fraud bit)

You need to have a look @ roadrunners shed for a bit of inspiration, pretty impressive setup they've got down there. Yeah hopefully you guys find a good place soon, need a good shed. .

Yeah this 5 acres in Wattle Glen is perfect. Oodles of cleared area up near the house too. Perfect for a big shed. Its just really bad timing on our behalf, as we are not quite ready to buy. But having said that, the property has had two offers, under their asking price, both offers were accepted, but the banks said no to both. I know why. The property isnt worth their asking price if you go by the section 32 and I think the banks have said no on that reason. But we would need to build another house on the block too as the one their is barely livable.

Just heading home from Melbourne, had a lovely dinner with the big dog last night, made tegan and I feel very welcome.
We found 2 nice houses that are going to apply for, hopefully will be living in Melbourne by the end of August!! The plan is to not have to drive home after the licola trip and let the removalists do the rest!
The weather was very forgiving during our stay, and the cold wasn't as bad as we were expecting which is awesome.

Went a close family friends funeral yesterday.
Big Jonho was always the life of the party, would often wear loud Hawaiian shirts and was a Geelong supporter so as a fitting sendoff the Pallbearers all wore Hawaiian shirts and they played the Geelong club song as his coffin was carried out, exactly as he would have wanted it.
The wake started in the church car park with someone handing out cans of beer from the boot of his car, then down to Johno's local the Christies Pub then back to his house.
I staggered out of there sometime after midnight and do not have full recollection of the night so it must have been good, head feels like it is going to explode now.

What a difference 2psi makes..
Dropped it from 19psi down to 17 psi for the drive home..
Up threw the Adelaide hills is a huge test imo..
Rock solid in 5th at 100kmh.
Sat on 400-420c.
Only saw 450c when accelerating from 90 back to 100k after the tunnels..
Even had pedal to spare..

Do want to go back another psi and then invest in a good needle valve to bring the cruse boost down a bit.. atm is floats around 15-17psi while cruzing at 110kmh..
But sits around 220-270c while cruzing at 110..

But happy days..

No, was drilled from the start.
I had thought that EGR block would not cause limp mode, only would give a fault code that would need resetting.

I had thought that EGR block would not cause limp mode, only would give a fault code that would need resetting.

Egr allows the exhaust gas to go somewhere else other than the turbo. So when it is completely blocked all the gas goes through the turbo this can make them respond a little better. Yes its overboosting but it may only be at that setpoint in the ecu. You may get away with 20psi but it will have to be beyond say 2400rpm. Unfortunately all these ecus and vehicles arent exactly the same so you do end up with some that will fault at lower psi while others can be pushed to even beyond 20psi without issue.

Any negatives at running 17 psi? ?
Garret says efficiency runs out at 19psi..
But can stock internals handle that boost??

I'm in the process of reducing my boost so its 12psi @ 100kph and leave it at that lol.
My boost is all over the place atm since I change where I get the boost from. easy enough to sort IMO

Would you really notice any difference on a CRD dialled in at 17psi compared to 19 psi.lol

I noticed when I dropped from 19 down to 14 psi..
Felt like the gq again lol..
But then got some of it back when I went back up to 17..
I was hoping for 16 but happy at 17 seeing it didn't limp out like it did at 19..
I don't really wanna start stuffing with maf voltage modifiers or housing etc to get more boost..
It goes well.. and it's a daily at 2850kg so I've always used more fuel etc than others..
So to haul that weight up Adelaide hills with ease I'm gunna leave it..
Just need to dial in the needle valve to reduce cruze boost but again seeing I'm quite a heavy rig it may be as good as it gets..

Yours will more than likely be quite reliable and return fairly good efficiency.

Feck!
Mine used would never go over 400c when towing and flogging the rrrs out of it.
FYI Kallen, I was running 25psi max and 18psi at 100k's. The max boost and cruising boost levels are relative to each other. The higher you go in max boost, the higher you need to go in cruise boost. If you dont. For example you get 25psi max, but you still want say 12psi at 100k's, you need to open the needle valve up, there for slowing your spool up rate. It will take off like a bucket of poo, the boost rise will be far too slow.
My needle valve was virtually shut when I was running it. It ran really good too. I did find that anything over 30psi, it was pretty much a negative effect on performance. So it was just blowing hot air at the level and way out of its efficiency. So a few days of road testing and what not and the levels I ended up with suited mine really well.
Now however, a few mobs have sprung up with better turbos, I think Diesel Tec are the guys. Their getting good numbers out of their modded ZD turbos. I think they are worth a pretty penny though too...

Yep, no issues so far and cheap to run. Most of my driving is stretching it to about 3500-4000rpm every gear anyway. Sweet spot is around 2600rpm

Didn't expect these so quickly.
Ordered Monday arvo.
Initial thoughts..
Well I thought they would have made a longer bag, not use spacers..
But good kit and very clear instructions..
Even a little manual book for in the car..

My son saw the GP and the physio yesterday and has been given the all clear on his ankle.
Problem is that footy season finished last week.
