received word today i am the owner of a long lost $7.5M USD trust fund, currently sitting in the African Nigerian Bank in BOHO and the banks lawyers have tracked me down after a very long search. I simply have to tell them everything about myself to formally prove i am who they think I am and a tall dark gentleman will arrange for the funds to be deposited into my bank account.
Looks like I can afford to get a new set of mudflaps for the Patrol. I just have that Kylie Minogue number going thru my head, " I should feel so lucky, lucky lucky lucky.......

Started off with a three hour boat cruise with beer wine and spirits and finger food with three topless waitresses and a strip act for the buck. Then we moved onto the Munich brauhaus for dinner.
Was a good night but I think long gone are the days of a bucks night in a garage with a 34cm tv playing a porn movie on loop, a couple of strippers and some topless waitresses. Pretty much got the same thing tonight, only difference was the $225 charge and the fact that my son is now 18 and he got to go which made it a very expensive night for me.

Have something similar at home, shop bought though. Works ok with a bag attached underneath, but was problematic used over the top of a dug hole unless very careful. Had a couple of 'moments' where the leg or legs wanted to join the contents of the hole! Your legs (those in the pic, not the ones with the creaky knees) may be wider apart than my ones ..... you really don't want them too close to the edge of the hole!

Been in use for a few years now and no signs of any problems. I don't see any reason for a short lifespan as it is kept in the vehicle (out of the sun) and only taken out when needed to be a little discreet. And the plastic seat is quite rigid so does not bend when in use. I expect the old camp chair legs will probably be the first thing to fail.

Several years ago on a blokes Simpson treat we were using one of the fold up toilets like below.
One night one of my mates was sitting and doing his business and staring up at the stars when the seat collapsed, he ended up landing in what he had just deposited. He came back to the fire in just his jocks, having used his shirt to clean up as much as he could and burying it. We laughed so hard it hurt.

It's not just Roothy who gets the good gigs! A couple of days ago we met Dave, a real life 'Robinson Crusoe' who has lived alone on a deserted island for the past 20 something years. He came into Portland Roads to collect his mail from me (in my role as Temporary Postie) & after a bit of a yak invited us out to his island. Of course we said yes. This morning he picked us up in his tinny, off a small isolated beach & we spent a wonderful day in the heaven which is Restoration Island, chin-wagging, enjoying each others company & meeting his semi tame pet dingo. Better yet, he has invited us back for as long as we want to stay when we drive back up the Cape later in the year.

Watched the video. He said, I didn't have much money so I rang up my mate and said I need an island!
There's some history there! He bought a part share in the island, not freehold, a 50 something year lease. Cost was 1.2 million, but his share was a 'small' share. The other person who has the larger share wanted to sell the Island a few years ago & Dave took it all the way to the high court , representing himself. The High Court chucked the case out & admonished him for wasting the court's time. He has sold his share to the local aboriginal community (Lockhart River) for one dollar, ("but they haven't paid me yet"). Prior to that during the first dozen or so years he was there the local aboriginal people hated him & didn't think he should be there. There were court cases which what money Dave did have all went to lawyers. He claims he now lives on the pension which we didn't really have reason to doubt. There was certainly no evidence of wealth whatsoever. The relationship with the aboriginal community has since turned around & 'the strange man on the island' is tolerated. The two partners in the lease continue to have a love/hate relationship. Colin helps out Dave - gave him an old GQ to get around in when he goes to the mainland for example, but they still bicker. (Colin was visiting whilst we there - he's lives in Ballarat & flies his light plane up to Lockhart now & then, & Dave goes to pick him up). No doubt far more to the story. Dave wrote a book which was published last year. He gave us a copy which I've yet to read. A few locals reckon it's a good yarn but mostly bullshit. :). However we always just take people as we find them, & the time we had with Dave on the island yesterday was priceless. The whole experience of being up here has been great, & the island visit was a great way to round it off, & we'll happily return.
https://www.bookdepository.com/The-Millionaire-Castaway-Dave-Glasheen/9781925712797?redirected=true&selectCurrency=AUD&w=AF45AU960CBQ2PA8VC7J&pdg=pla-293946777986:cmp-6919946397:adg-82581721111:crv-389775188388:pos-:dev-c&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI--rGprr65wIVwrWWCh0i_wbqEAQYAyABEgJtLfD_BwE
I Just read through some of the book reviews online at 'Goodreads'. The following has a description of the book which absolutely nailed the experience we had with Dave face to face yesterday!
The key to enjoying this book is possibly understanding what it's actually about. I figured it was going to be a book that could really get you thinking about life choices, and what he went through to turn is back on regular life etc and although there's a pinch of that in there, it's mostly not about that at all. Instead it's pretty much like sitting around a fire while a bloke who's possibly had one too many tells you all his stories, often in no particular order. Wasn't at all what I was expecting. :)

Nearly all registers were cogged up with lines of people all the way into the aisles ... Any other Saturday , you're lucky to see one registers worth of people .
Their store room door was open , and the guy was literally handing packs of shit rolls straight off the pallet ... Between the time when I noticed this , to the time when I paid , I counted 4 pallets of shit rolls gone. This was maybe half an hour's worth max !

I don't understand either. It's nationwide, why?
I'm hoping in my rural community, once the 1000 households each get their 80 rolls, that people will become normal once more.
Crikey I hope they never announce an asteroid is going to hit earth, people will be killed within minutes of the announcement.

Yet the greenies have still got the balls to have a stand at the local markets promoting their idiotic beliefs and wanting people to pay for memberships. My sister was stopped by one not long ago at her local market and she nearly ripped his head off and shat down his neck. She was furious.

Finally had two builders come out today in preparations to quote for the extension. One more to come on Monday evening. Then we wait, again, for their quotes to come through. 13 months (mainly thanks to council being arseholes) and around 10k in the making so far and we haven't even dug a hole yet.
Sad thing is, when this is finished. My Patrol still doesn't get an undercover parking space, even though there will be a 5.5m x 10m'ish garage added. She's too tall.

The ground under the carpet has a fall of maybe 300mm, even more, from right to left. The frame of the carport is rusted, badly, the only thing holding it together is the corrugated sheets. It really needs to be demolished.
What I want to do there is concrete that whole are and put a nice big shed there. But I need to level it out first, but, the council have refused to let me put a retaining wall in where I need to so I can build the are up so its level. Carnts!
So I'm waiting until the extension is done and dusted then I will just do the retaining wall without telling the council.

Then it won’t be level with the rest of the, ground level. Costs involved in digging lower than what we already are at is stupid. It’s not only the excavation cost, it the engineering into it and the extra work to build lower. I’m up to my neck in costs already. Lol
Besides. All the permits and plans are done. It’s taken long enough and cost more than enough just to get this far.
I’m not really concerned. Having it this way means I can build a nice big man shed. Can’t wait for that.
Just need to wait a while in the hope the council forgets about me originally wanting to put a 1.8m high retaining wall on the boundary, where they said no too. Lol

Thanks. I might give them a call. C4x4 I am paying through the nose for now. But I'm covered for $56K. Shannons would go any higher than 40K, which won't be replacement cost if the Patrol was to be gone for ever.

Hi mate. Although $56k is a nice number reality is you would easily replace your car for $40k probably and get a GUIV at that. Let's face it. Accessories are just bolt ons and most GUIV TD42s have a fair bit of fruit on them at $40k these days. At $56k you are probably over insured.
Mine is agreed value of $38k but I will probably have that reviewed once it is resprayed but $45k would be Top Dollar. If you saw one advertised anywhere for $56k every man and his dog would take the piss out of the guy posting the for-sale as a dreamer. Just never gunna get it. As yours is a conversion and not a factory TD then the market value is even less to be honest mate.

Site rang today to say they have been hit by additional stupid QLD Govt restrictions and Corporate HR have jumped on the band wagon and basically made it 10 times harder again to get to site. Upside is the Mine manager wants me to stay so its basically 6 weeks off until I have to return, and I can work from home, pick the hours, pick the projects and basically happy days - daughter is in the throws of labour now so waiting for the announcement - plenty of time to see the new arrival when it comes.

ive spent a day in the pi$$ing down rain making the most of a two day loaner of a 5T excavator from a mate. the backyard has gone from this:
80854
to this today:
80855
80856
Also managed to remove about a dozen stumps from around the yard (not small ones either) as seen in the background.
Should be able to finish it tomorrow. Next step will be installing a slab for my shed on the far right of the retaining wall.

yeah its pretty new, but the guy that owns it owes me a few favours =P i installed a brand new kitchen for him for free. oh and yeah, i got very very bogged down the back, only had the ripper blade on too, once you figure it out they are amazingly easy to get unbogged lol. push one side up, pack material under it, when lift the otherside up and use the arm to dram yourself out. a hell of alotta fun!

Good that people are slowing their panic buys. This thing is the biggest over-blowout panic I've ever seen. Killed only a fraction that SARS did 10 years ago (also a caronavirus), and there was no mass media panic put on everyone then.
Actually SARS killed 774 worldwide, to date COVID-19 has killed a reported 161,330 worldwide. Probably very many more.

Hahaha. Believe it or not bloody BFG has superseded the KM2 with the KM3 and No longer make the KM2 and they could not get me a tyre!!! They fitted a new KM3 to that rim but I rejected it as I have 9 KM2s and the last thing I want is 1 KM3 damn it!!!
That rim had some slight damage on the edge and they fixed it but found a slash in the sidewalk.9f that tyre so wrote it off. They are cash settling me the cost of the tyre and I have found one in Sydney that will be shipped to me next week.

Cheers mate. They are 16x8 procomps. I fitted them last October with the new KM2s. Very happy with them. They cost me $500 a corner for rim and tyre. Bargain.
CGU 4wd Cover was OUTSTANDING. Full off road cover. No track requires. No gazzetted road required. It just must be legal. So Madigan Line is covered as long as I have a permit. Anywhere as long as I have not cut a gate or am trespassing.
This damage was done on Climies Track in Tassie and No questions asked.

Yeah $500 for Alloy rims and tyres was great. 305/70/16. Very happy. Solid rims too.
Damage in Tassie.... Climies Track is basically a Rock garden. I smashed Both sills, trowelled the side steps ripping the driver side steps off. A couple of off camber ruts had me leaning on the flares and scraping through the paint on both sides. More than a cut and polish would fix. A small dent in the side wing of the Kaymar bar had then replace the whole bar....
Insurance paid for a $20k respray, a new Kaymar rear bar and a hire car for 21 days.

Sorry, is this for extraction or supply? If extraction is it for food steam like above a stove or simply a room vent to pull spent air out or supply fresh air into the room. Just the terminology has me confused. the filter style would be driven by the use of course.

After selling my Acres in 2006 and my big shed with it I have basically had a mass8ve level of deep Storage ever since. I have rebuilt the GQ from the ground up TWICE in that time without a shed!!!
9 years ago I moved into my house with a plan to extend the existing shed slightly and lid the roof. A rebuild of a GQ, a baby, and about 10 different options for a shed later and Yesterday I drove the GUIV into the New Shed for the first time. It was a Very Big Deal gents. Thanks Rossco, pump should arrive today I am hoping, then I can start on the 11L coolant reservoir and pump assy. From there its off to the a/c shop for charging and hitting the highway. I was saying to MB last week, it needs wider boots/suspension upgrade/removal of rooftop weight I think as it is prone to understeer on sweeping corners if I even touch the throttle - simply very responsive in 3rd thru 5th.

Ringtail possums are critical endangeredNo way they are endangered in Brisbane. Both ring and brush tailed are plentiful in the 'burbs. Between them and the flying foxes we can't grow a damn thing without solid physical protection because they just eat almost everything!.

Brings back fond memories Avo, when I was a kid we found a baby ringtail. Took it home and it went everywhere on my shoulder and used to sit on the old mans Ford Prefect steering wheel sometimes. It eventually found a new home in the pigeon cage, slept all day in the nest (sometimes when the pigeons were brooding eggs at the same time).
It started to head out on its own at night as it got older until one day it never returned, probably found a mate as they were pretty common around our place.

Been hearing everywhere that now is the time to buy a new car, and I can attest to that. Picked up a 2 month old, 2020 Subaru Outback 3.6R with 2000 kilometres on it, optioned up for the Subaru exec who had it, for over 10K saving on a new one. Happy days. Full 5 yrs new car warranty blah blah blah. 81075

Its a totally different drive to the545i BMW I had, obvious downgrade in power, but feels solid and its quiet, which is surprising for a 'flat 6' engine. Anyway, another long term happy association I am hoping. Absolutely loaded, all I had added was a 12V plug in the rear for the fridge!!

How's the servicing expenses for subi's nicco? Been vaguely looking around for a new work vehicle for a while. Subi's high on the wanted list, but not yet ready to step over the commitment threshold. Do Subi owners experience euro prestige service inflation?

Do Subi owners experience euro prestige service inflation? To be honest mate, we've one had the car for around 15000ks, and has only seen one service in that time. I had it serviced at a licensed mechanics rather than the dealer. It only cost us around$300-400. I'm sure other ones will be more but I feel I'm getting a better service while maintaining my warranty going through a mechanic

1 - Border Track

3 - Googs Track
4 - Yorke Peninsula
5 - NSW central coast
6 - Southern QLD
If I can do a few of them I'll be a happy camper.

Been working up at my folks place in Mallacoota that got burnt on new years. Grocon got the block cleared in late April and gave been spending the week removing a couple of large Yellow Stringybarks and some other trees. Bit of a shame to take down the big buggers but enjoyed them and will mill them up and hopefully get some good timer out of them . . . Certainly on the road to recovery now. .

Picked up the new Outback, drove the BMW down to the dealer - bloody thing was running like a swiss watch - unlike its behaviour in previous weeks - reckon it knew something was up and it was trying to generate a reprieve! Anyway, didn't get one, drove home in the new one and happy as a pig in mud. Shopped around for insurance, and because we had another insurance policy, saved 30% - went from $950 to $600 - happy days.

OK you two, been reading your gushing on the outback, and having previously had a bit of a horn for a forester, so I'm looking again (gotta rid myself of this shite xtrail cvt piece of crap I'm putting up with currently). Not new though, will be used for me. Some quick research tells me the forester went from timing belts (125000km life) to timing chains (whole of vehicle life) in 2011. So I'm looking 2011 onwards. Anyway I have no subaru experience so any heads up would be appreciated. Pros and especially cons.

My wife wanted me to buy one, so it was easiest to do that than resist.
Last Subaru I had was in 1976, could not kill it as a young hoon driver. They are from a heavy engineering background so I wasn't pushing back too much! They do come very well appointed with a pile of standard gear, much like a Honda for example. I have a couple of friends with them and have not heard a bad word, services even handed pricing, mine has 5 yr fixed price, but suspect a lot of makes do this as well. I don't really know much more than that. No idea on what to look for in a s/h unit apart from the normal. I doubt you would find many that have been flogged off road, more banged up from suburban damage.
The later units have this CVT transmission in them. Its an odd sort of feel, unsure of the mechanics of it, but totally step-less and responsive in the auto gearbox.

Thanks phil. I have a gut feel they are a niche maker, hence I'm slightly nervous. But that could also be a great thing. The standard manufacturers are really putting out very uninspiring and unimpressive offerings these days. I drive a lot of hire cars and therefore a lot of different makes and models. Cant remember last time i really enjoyed a ride. Cvt is really a bugbear of mine. I hate it. No feel, just like driving a rubber band powered car. My xtrail is a good car overall but i hate its guts mainly because of the cvt. The worst transmission ive ever had. Anyway, im rambling. A few reds down, but I'm looking forward to learning more about subarus and maybe even buying one!
