About to head to the hospital for the planned Caesarian of our first child William Scott Macdonald. If all goes to plan we will be parents by 8:30am today.
After 3 years of trying and looking at ivf we fell pregnant naturally by a little miricle against the odds poly cystic ovaries and endometriosis made it almost impossible! After some interesting times during pregnancy we have made it to the big day!
Here goes nothing!

Good luck and all the best mate.... my first was an emergency C-section and it was so surreal like I was looking through the lens of a camera but my second was booked in and planned so I could take it in a bit better and enjoy the arrival of my son Alexander..
Look forward to the good news a bit later.!!!

Took the wife and kids to the Werribee open range Zoo. What a magic day weather wise. We got there early, walked into one of the bandicoot enclosures. The dark rooms where they make it night so they all come out. All the lights were on and a worker was cleaning the cages. She said this enclosure was closed but as she left the door unlocked she gave us a close encounter with the bandicoots and a Tawny frog mouth owl. The kids loved it. Then my oldest daughter had another, booked, close encounter with the Serval's, an african cat. She got to feed and pat them etc etc. She was soooo excited.
Bloody good zoo this. second time this year we have been. The bus tour around the park is good, apart from the idiots who don't listen to the rules and make as much noise as they possibly can when asked to be quiet through some sections. But good. We got real close, around three feet from the White Rhinos and Giraffes.
Had a wonderful day not thinking about work.

I just had a guy turn up at my front door and hand me my digital camera (in it's case and spare battery) which I didn't even know was missing. He found it at a round about 2kms away on Sunday. Think I may have placed it on the bullbar of my car and forgot to take it inside, and it fell off.
Interesting is how he found me, on one of the pictures was a parcel I sent interstate (which I took as proof of sending) and he was able to zoom onto the return address.
He wasn't interested in a reward, just said it was a good deed and pay it forwards.
How was that!

Found out on friday that my block, cam and crank are all A OK
The cam and crank are just going to be linished, that means there is basically no wear so factory spec bearings can be used,
Although it only has 302 thousand km on it, to still have cross hatching on the bores, no wear on the valve train, crank and cam still within factory spec, it has had a lifetime of good clean oil and good oil pressure. The little bit of wear on the big ends just before top dead center when it fires and piston damage is all related to lots of boost.

Hard to keep from grinning - have just driven the most powerful car I’ve ever driven for about 120kms. <grin> Don’t know all the details, but it sounds really nice, <grin> & goes like the proverbial sh*t off a shovel. <grin again>. It’s a 2009 Holden SS ute with a V8 Chevy motor, fully chipped & tuned & only has 35,000kms on it. Just the noise it makes on idle is really sweet. Sits on the legal limit at around 1600rpm but kick it down a couple of gears (it’s an auto) & it just flys, & sounds wonderful doing so. <More big grins>. I was doing a mate a favour relocating the vehicle for him so was pretty conservative in my driving. This car would break traction on command but I didn’t try. I did have to work hard at not making myself a target for a speeding fine, so used the cruise control much of the time. However when a d*ckhead decided to sit behind me right up my klacker at 103kph I couldn’t resist pushing the go pedal a little more. <grin grin grin>. The motor howled as it changed down a couple of gears, the distance between him & I rapidly widened as I was pushed back into my seat. In what seemed like just an instant I was just a tad short of 170kph & it felt like there was plenty more there. Pity I have to give it back. It’ll be up for sale soon, but I’m way too sensible for such a machine.

That is bloody cheap Roofy, what was the story with your insurance mate? I have Windscreen cover for and extra $50 a year and there is No excess on Windscreen claims and i can have 1 per year, any piece of glass on the vehicle, no charge.
I smashed my screen on the Simpson trip if you remember and i had it replaced on Insurance when i got back, fitted in the driveway at no charge. I reckon $50 a year is a Bargain! My wifes Volvo had a WIndscreen replaced at $700 through the same policy at no charge to me. Winner. Check out your insurance company mate, they might offer the same thing.

22.5/100 lpg over 400km, 17/100 petrol (estimate). This is the first long run without towing on new 33's, so I'm happy with that.
I'm wondering if the engine wearing in had anything to do with the improving performance., the new engine is now at 20,000km.

They started the pour for our new shed just before 7am this morning & were gone by 12.
180 square metres. 4 truckloads 25mpa concrete. Looks pretty good to me. :)

If you mean at the entrance, across the width of where the roller door will be, yes they did. You can just make it out on the right in the 3rd pic.
I failed to do so in the shed I built at our last place & ended up having to cut a water run off channel into the concrete across the roller door line.
The swale drain should take care of any run off there might be.

Maybe I should keep watch with my air rifle!
The concreter was relating a tale about returning to a job in the morning & finding a heap of roo tracks & deposits in the concrete.
Not too sure if he was pulling my leg. The concrete was hard when they left today.
I’ve got the sprinkler & hoses ready to wet it down when it the weather warms up in the next few days.
Bloke’s coming back in the morning to cut ‘expansion’ lines.

Yeah, it does look good. Progress Cuppa.
Living so close and feeling guilty about not catching up for a chat more often. Seemed to have sold myself as a slave to work lately. Sounds like Apollofish is the same. We need to touch base and find a time to meet. I'm not experienced with radio issues, but willing to put some hours in with you to test at some point if you want. Will give you a ring on the weekend to see when you are going to be around over the next couple of weeks.

Hi very nice i just wander if you have foundations under the concrete or is it just on dirt.
93patrol
20th December 2014, 02:53 AM
Normally on compacted dirt with a thickening around the edge of about 100 mm thick by 200 wide depending on the engineers specs of course

Hi very nice i just wander if you have foundations under the concrete or is it just on dirt.
As 93Patrol says. Site is first excavated, levelled & compacted, & then boxed. A layer of crushed rock is then laid & compacted & a trench dug around the edges to form a thicker edge ‘beam’ (about double the depth of the slab) when the concrete is poured. Where there has been ‘fill’ to level the slope, holes have to be re-excavated down to ‘natural earth’ where the shed uprights are to stand. An inspector from the Master Builder’s Association was required to sign off on the excavations prior to the pour going ahead.
But yes, essentially the slab is just ‘floating’ & it is the weight of the concrete which holds the shed in place.

Don't forget to keep it wet mate hose it down and cover it with plastic if you have enough or just keep wetting it. This will allow it to dry harder and reduce the surface cracking

Yeah the concreter told me to wet it down a few times a day. Today was warm, (hotter days to follow in the next few days.) & as I was wetting it down with a hand held hose it was dry in places before I’d wet the entire slab down. I went to Bunnies & bought a roll of black builders plastic for $100 & covered it with that late this afternoon.

Son in law dropped the Toyota on it's side yesterday reversing down a dune. He's very experienced but probably driver error/bad luck - long story but seeing the pics you can see how it happened. Why is this in the happy thread?
Because two of my grandchildren we in the car and no one got hurt, all strapped securely.
That makes me happy, take care out there.

In all seriousness, walking away in good shape is a pretty good thing in a situation like that. Glad it wasn't worse.
