Had a contract earlier this year to inspect certain asset owner's radio towers all over Vic, about 8 down Mallacoota way. All fairly remote and 4x4 access only. Beautiful country down there and did it all in a Mitsubishi Sport which exceeded my expectations haha! Loved the SE bit, but truth be told loved that whole contract. Driving everywhere within a triangle spanning Mallacoota, ,Mt Gambier, Mildura. Stuck to chicken tracks though travelling solo. Couple of hairy moments but had the hand winch in back just in case.

Went away for a week and a bit to Margaret River then to Wellstead. Forecast drizzle for nearly a week, so I decided we would come home, do a few things around the house then head off again. The weather at home was low to mid 30's - a no brainer. lol.

Got my ute seats cleaned in preparation for entering it into the Albany Ute Muster Comp, next weekend. Entered 4 categories, so hopefully will take out one of them. lol.

MY NEW (TO ME) PATROL MADE ME HAPPY TODAY.

So I bought a 96 GQ 4.2efi a few weeks ago for cheap and have spent a LOT of hours fixing stuff on it due to previous owners neglect. It's completely rust free with only 220Ks on it so I was prepared to make a few allowances for it. Yesterday it was finally ready to hit the bush.

Took it out on its first bush run today and VERY HAPPY. It was way better than my old prado in the sand. And its still a fully stock GQ. Left the cruisers for dead. I'm fully converted to the school of PATROL.

Cant wait to get a 2" lift. I ordered 33" tires yesterday and they go on next week.

Its such a cool car. That rear LSD works awesome.

cheers

I thought our tele had been spiked by a small power outage, because it acted as if buttons were being continually pushed. I took a punt, split the case and used the brush attachment to vacuum the circuit board. It now works, so I think some fine ash from the fireplace might have shorted out a component. Finger crossed the tele will behave itself.

Not yet Jack. Spent the last 2 days crashing it around the house, then took it to a park today to see how high it'd go. Realised pretty quick radio range isn't great when it was rather lofty and ceased communications. Oh shit I thought but luckily it just shut off and auto-rotated down on a gentle breeze and came down only about 100m away. Will give a loopdy-loop a go soon though!

I'm happy !! On Friday, i was meant to be grounded for a week after a dental procedure. Which got cancelled early Friday morning due to infection...
SO i went Jamieson instead with some mates. Magnificent Jamieson River about 10 k's north of Grannys flat. One of the best swimming holes, I've seen in the high country thus far.
I also found a new mate "Brownie" which chilled out with me for a bit, while trying to catch some Trout (didnt get any).

Weather was ferocious at times, thunder and absolute deluge, but the sleep during the night listening to the storm and the river was priceless !

Left camp at 7am today, but Couldn't get out of jamieson until around 11am, due to the sad hit and run that happened last night.
I drove around and looked at some alternative off road ways back to Mansfield from that area and after the deluge last night, some of those tracks were "interesting", since being by my self, I opted to just wait it out by the river.

Seriously don’t stress Avo good man ;-) Was only a base camp secondary ‘out’ track that the kids wanted to climb with big Daddy out of frame on the side :-) Phil’s monster winch did haul it very well minutes later once the little people were safely watching on the back of my cubby house some 75m & 60 degrees to the right of camp, happy days :-)

I'm so happy..... I didn't get bogged, once! Must be the fat tyres and Sunnies. lol.

I do have pics, and you'll have to sit down and we'll have a movie night for pic catch ups. lol.

Took my youngest the the Werribee Open range zoo yesterday. We had a close encounter pass to the Servals, which was for her birthday. Pretty amazing animals. We stayed and watched the four new lion cubs for ages too. The entire pride was right in front of us.
You gotta get down there and see these cubs at play. Really awesome The weather wasn't the best for us unfortunately but we still had a great day.

Thats brilliant mark. Wife and I went on a road trip 2 yrs ago and visited Dubbo and Canberra Zoo, stayed overnight in a room that is part of the cheetah enclosure, obviously separated by a heavy glass window, but the cheetah basically sleep right next to you. They did have another option, which was not avail to us, but they do a leash led meet and greet with a cheetah also. Also had dinner with a pride of lions that sauntered in and out past us - again separated by glass but they were free to come and go - great experience. I think this experience lifts it to a whole new level - how did you organise it?

Thanks Phil. Its organised through the zoo. They have a number of encounters you can do. If we could have touched and handled the lion cubs I would have been all over this. They are my favorite animals by far. Well them and Tigers. I could have just sat there and the lion enclosure all day if I could. I have video footage of the Lions and cubs at play but the interwebs here is so bad I cannot upload a thing.
The serval was great too. The handler put a piece of meat on a stick about 3 metres above him and the serval just jumped straight up and grabbed it. My daughter was in awe with this animal. It was just me and her for the day, no big sis to annoy her. Was a really good day.

Helped buy my daughter a car on the weekend, everyone happy.

Poor kid moved to Melbourne in 2011 for Uni. We gave her & her brother our old Falcon in 2012 which she dinged and she hasn't driven since, too scared at first, country kid on her own in the city just too much stress. She'd walk to the supermarket to buy groceries & walk back each week, relied on public transport and friends with cars to get around. She's had her first real job for the past 6 months & saved everything.

Great to see her so happy with her own car and a much more confident driver as well.

The one in the photo, swam up out of the water right at my feet !! Where it is on the photo, is where my feet were dangling off the chair, next to the rod. It did not have a care in the world that I was there. It just sat there as it got some heat. Was slow moving as it just came out of cold water. Just gave it wide berth and eventually was on its way.
It was one of around 6 that we seen the whole weekend. 3 sightings was probably the same one...

6 weeks on crutches until I’m able to start putting Weight on the ankle again. Then start rehab and walking again, so yes you’re right recovery will be a lot longer than the initial 6 weeks.
But at this stage I’m just looking forward to being able to move around again without pain!! Feels like I took home 1/2 the pharmacy with me lol

Yeah it's not too bad, get the urges push through it for a few minutes, get your mind elsewhere and the urge comes back an hour later so I'll be happy to half my intake from 25-30 to 10-15 a day for a bit and work on cutting that back once I am used to that intake.

Fwiw still trying to reduce/quit mentality and going good.

Averaging ten a day from 25-30.

I'm killing it during the day, it's just sooooo fking hard at night with beers and wine.

I can only have 3 a day but get home and crack a beer and i can't stop that lol

Need to break away from that and I think I could get to 5 a day and go from there.

Seriously encourage any smokers here to give it a crack, you get the urge and just distract yourself for a bit and your mind forgets for another half/or hour.

I'm thinking some spicy hot jerky like MB recommended might be the go when having a drink to break up the taste maybe.

I'm already noticing a difference of less coughing in the morning and to be honest less feeling like shit of you've had a couple.

I always thought of half a hangover is the 46 smokes you had the night before.

And the big one $$$$

Definitely recommend making your own jerky AB or I could make a big batch for you? Seriously if you work out what you pay for store bought jerky it's something like $70 per kg, if you make your own you pay $10 per kg for the meat which gets you about 600g of jerky.

I use this dehydrator and it's great for drying fruit too. I haven't tried too many different things but the options are endless!

Yeah good work stick at it. It's defiantly not easy nicotine is a pretty powerful sneaky little thing. I reckon after 6 months gets easy then a year is pretty sweet after that. So worth it but. . .

Keep at it AB. I flicked the ciggies about 3 years ago for nico vapes. Took a while to transfer fully but wont go back. Get offered ciggies and cigars and used to take a sneaky one now and then but now just flatly refuse. No want or desire to go back there. Yes still addicted to nicotine which one day I'll address but the vaping costs me about $130 for supplies about every 3 months. Whats that, a bit over $10 a week? The price of smokes now is absolute maddness. Crazy. C'mon AB keep going mate for you and your family.

Nico vapes are illegal aren't they. Its just a nicotine flavoured vape now from my understanding. But yeah the vapes are pretty good.

Really unsure marko, its a bit grey. I understand importing nico vape for resale is illegal (which I don't do), but importing or buying nico vape for personal use is OK. If it's legal to source nicotine from tobacco (taxed) but not legal to source nico from vape (untaxed) then I dont have a moral conflict with that.

Edit: You cant taste nicotine so no such thing as nico taste vapes. They come in all different flavours (including tobacco flavour which I avoid) but if it doesnt have nico you might as well as breathe kettle steam. Doesn't relax the physical cravings.

So do you import your own nico vape? Only asking because a mate of mine uses one and he used to buy the nico vape stuff from the shop and now they said it was illegal. So now he has a Marlboro flavoured vape. With no nico.

I'm sitting in the car waiting for the hand brake to finish shopping. And car park is apocalyptic chaos.
Bloke runs up to my window and says " I know you're waiting for someone , here is $40 for your parking spot now. "
