Great outcome..
Unfortunately father inlaws Prado is worse case..
Hold in no.3 piston..
He had injector issues only 8000k ago and they were deemed faulty..
So it's quite possible that the damage was done then by a lean burn but was never picked up..
So it's a tough call..
He's looking at around $6500-7000 for a reco engine change over plus transport to Adelaide..

All good. After having contract extensions and sacking threats for 12 months, I'm just glad it's over. I've been in this job for 20 years and I think it's time to move on.. To what, yet I have no clue, but I do intend to convince the old boy we need to do a loop of OZ first.. It is perfect timing and I'm in a 'F*ck it, lets just do it' mood...

Spent the afternoon with Mrs mudsane and young muddy nut, walking the dogs along Bridgewater Beach. As a bonus we saw a heap of seals and seal pups playing in the surf.
At times there were up to ten in groups surfing and playing right in the shallows. They have been there since Thursday.
bigguwesty , there are supposed to be whales in Portland Bay at the moment. We grabbed some takeaway for tea and sat on the breakwater, but didn't see any. A southern right whale and her calf have been hanging around.

You are not wrong, on so many levels. If it is sunny and 20 degrees in Hamilton, then it will be horizontal rain and 16 here. On the positive side, summer is usually a lot milder.
I used to go snorkelling for abalone or go surfing in the morning, then turn up at work for arvo shift.

Made me happy.... over the last few days I have been wheeling and dealing with my GQ. I brought it a few weeks back it had 31x12.5 15" tyres. I hated them they where just over half worn. swapped them for a almost new set of 30x10.5 15" (equals to 285x 75 16") much better to drive. Then I have just swaped the 3" lift springs for a new set of 2" springs and thats a far better ride now I almost happy whith the gq.

The best drink over there is a pelatan. Local coconut vodka drink, yummy!
There's two types of pelatan drinks though with different coconuts, local mainland are dry and tasteless to be honest.
Lingo is the key mate, just ask the bar tender like this, trust me, awesome drink!

Or east into your patch in the west vic area.

Haha! Yeah hard to watch at first, but you get used to the motion after a bit. Well I did, I play a lot of FPS online gaming so it was fine for me straight up. Watch The Brothers Grimsby if you haven't already, I pissed myself laughing from start to finish.

Had several, pre 2005 :-) Beasts!
Drop in a Chevy and they're even harder to stop at intersections, left/right huge daily adjustment drummies :-)
Great cars but.....very uncomfortable, chew da juice, spit spiders, pinions, axles and transfers sing like the wind, beautiful bush tunes, hahaha!!
They are cool, but my back appreciates a GU coily much more :-)

Recived my tool box yesterday and have come to terms that the portaloo won't be going in it..
It's ok. It'll clear out a lot of stuff from inside the van like annex, mats, rope and a little bit of dry fire wood..
So got to installing it..
It is a quality box.. 3 stainless hinges along the back, 3 lockable latches across the front, foam seal..
Made 3 cross members to support the box which will be welded to the draw bar..
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2016/08/195.jpg
But.. I should have made the bar another foot longer lol
I gotta fit twin 9 kg bottles up front still lol..
And a jockey wheel..
And was hoping to fit a stone deflector..
Not sure if the deflector is going to work now...
It'll be to close to the car and will restrict turning circle..
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2016/08/196.jpg
Going to place a peice of alloy check on the front to reduce stone damage so may just leave it at that..

12th August 2016, 04:11 PM
@Kallen when I bolted my boxes on the draw bar except the ice box I welded tabs 76x76mm with a 10mm hole
on the inside of the draw bar, then you only need some 6mm if that flat bar inside an use coach bolts.
Do you have a link to that box Im taking my ice box off the drawbar,, way too heavy when full.

Agreed. All the latest are way too big.
I stopped going on plans a few years ago. Now I'll buy a phone outright and am on a month by month plan.
Motorola 3 around $350 and $17 per month for 1.5 GB. Does everything I need it to do.

Agreed. All the latest are way too big.
I stopped going on plans a few years ago. Now I'll buy a phone outright and am on a month by month plan.
Motorola 3 around $350 and $17 per month for 1.5 GB. Does everything I need it to do.
My son has the kogan phone $180 and 7Gb for $37.

I'm up in 6 months so looking around..
Probably be up to samsung 8 by then..
The only thing I don't like about phones these days is the size..
If I wanted a tablet I'd buy one.. 7" screen is just getting to big for the pocket.
I used to think the same about big phones, that is until I got samsung note 4.... its big yes, but not so big that it doesn't fit in your pocket. I very rarely use a computer now, as alkost everything is done on the phone now, dont need a separate GPS coz I use the maps on the phone, Netflix on the phone, spotify on the phone etc etc etc. ..... and all that because its a larger than most phone, but not so large that it hard to carry around with you.
Me personally, I don't think I'd have a small phone again...... Note 7 will probably be the next one when my contract is next due... awesome phone, mate just picked one up yesterday but bought his outright

I did try a larger phone..
Had a Sony z1.
First lasted 2 days of work..
My line of work requiring access to tight spots and awkward positions is a pita and a big phone just adds to that.
Sure can take it out for the job but then it gets left behind, or forgotten and something else hits it lol..

Wire it up permanently powered hidden somewhere with a cheap prepaid sim and you could have your own gps tracker for anti theft as well.

I had an Iphone 6 plus since they came out, it was a great phone for watching videos and internet, but was just a pain in the rrrrs the rest of the time. Its just to big for a single hand use and annoying in your pocket due to the size. I have since changed to a smaller phone and its so much nicer to use, way more convenient.

Well i don't really have small hands but I just got over the awkwardness of trying to use it with 1 hand. Since I'm in my mid 20s, I text way more then I would call so being able to use it in 1 hand is a rather strong point for me. My 6+ is bent and dented from having it on my pockets at work.

My day so far: Watched the whales at the beach, then drove to the Dyno guy's workshop. Watched him tune and test a modified 351 in a Fairlane Ghia.
I helped him rip the gas gear off a TB42 carby. He then rebuilt the carby and I watched him tune and test the engine. It has headers but could only put out 8 or 9 Kw more than the RB30.
