From what I've read, over here you can only collect up to a tonne, once in a 60 day period from designated areas, between June and September
A tonne is 3 6x4 trailers but....it's hard life living in the bush....

How do they police that?

Very randomly, I was never checked when we cut wood and daughters family are never checked now. Apparently they do check a few of these randon firewood sellers appearing on facebook around this time of year. It's illegal to sell the wood.

Heard someone got done with a fifty tonne , copped a fine lost all his gear but it must be worth it because it's his second time caught .
It is randomly policed but I think there more after the guy in the truck than the family car with 6x4 .

I used to collect firewood out the back of Powelltown, and stopped at the pub/milk bar each time to pay my $13.50 permit, but last time was told it's no longer required, change of rules and replaced by 'firewood season' restrictions, so you can cut as much as you like in gazetted areas without a fee as long as it's not during the summer prohibited times.

It does, with 3x jerry can holders between van and wheels..
Im also loving the alloys with the black..
Its funny as I've painted the van the same colours as the old patrol lol..
(See pic)
And yes there will be a number plate mounted on a stub on the spare wheel as the other one is "slightly" obstructed with the 32's lol..
Also not too fused about the stone chips.
Was a $50 paint job and it's alloy sheet that's dented to hell if you look closely..
Was talking to wife and will maybe change the full front end to a big double sided "boot" after darwin..

Its was "professional lifted" prior to me buying. Was a dog's breakfast and if I knew what I know now I would have walked away..
But it is fitted with large wheel arches..
Again a hack job and I'll probably visit this later aswell.. but it's all sealed for now..
So yea 32's fit with about an inch either side..

Mine came with hilux stud pattern so first mod was new axle, springs, breaks to suit patrol.
Went ford stubs and bearings though so they are strong and very avaliable..

So I had to take the GUIV down the freeway today to Melbourne. On the way back I'm cruising on cruise control in the middle lane and this guy in a 79series Cruiser Trayback towing a big tandem with a small crate on it came past me on the right.

Next thing he beeped the horn and a looked over and he gave me a huge thumbs up and mouthed "Nice Farking car mate" with a big grin......

Not at all.
Ive gone from a s5 mini. Contract ran out last week so timing was spot on..
Not usually one to go latest and greatest as i usually trash it..
But after the s5 mini and the way it just imploded over the last few months i wont be buying old tech again. It just dates to quickly..

I too debated to go the s8 or an s7 flat.
Mate. The edge is wicked. It feels and works like a flat screen, have been using it like a flat screen.
I think the original idea of having a seperate side like the original edge is now gone, and its just one big screen.
I agree thought about Bixby. I hardly ever use AI assistance so to have so much of the phone taken by it and its own button again was a big question..
And yes finger print also.
But again im old tech. Never used the finger print on the old phone as i often have gloves on, or my prints too torn up from steel..
Am yet to try the eye scan. Will let you know how it goes.
I mainly wemt the s8 as its new tech. Im sicm of buying phones that are already behind when purchased, and then just cant keep up after 18 months.
My old s5 mini striggled to keep up with my lock pattern.. so hopefully no issues in a fee years wity this one..

I tend to watch a fare bit of Netflix on my phone, so wasn't keen on the curved screen due to reflections etc...... I don't know if that's an issue or not though. Was originally after the S8+ but couldn't justify the extra cost, especially as it didn't have any extra features over it smaller sibling.

I ended up getting and LG G6 on a plan instead, with e free 43" TV................ did you get the VR gear with the phone too?

Not if you search around. If you find the right places you can save about $400 in some cases on the phone purchase. We saved nearly 500 on an s7 edge by shopping around. I looked at all the major players as well as other tech sellers.

Something is not right there Winnie.

Amps = Watts divided by volts, nothing changes that simple electrical equation.
Even at 14.8 volts that an alternator more or less peaks at you should see double the amps your meter showed.
Of course undersized cable, faulty connections etc all have an effect on the amps that will flow. You are an electrician or connected to the trade? so will have that covered.
Is it false advertising?

Ben-e-boy explained this elegantly in a previous post regards exactly this comment. I have since wired all my light bars to run thru a 28V transformer to boost the output to match the max voltage.

Rather than by leakage or stealth, perhaps a formal intent or advice would go a long way to avoiding the fines or pink slips. Until it becomes totally 'uncontestable law' its going to be simply a point of argument on the side of the road I guess. I have not checked the VSB's yet, however will.

I saw a vendor on ebay claiming that his LED headlight inserts are legal in all states of Australia, yet there appears to also be confusion if this is correct?

The lights themselves might be approved, but they have to be approved in your type of vehicle to be legal in your vehicle.
That being said, my pair of LED inserts arrived from eBay yesterday afternoon but it will be a little while before I can fit them up.

Thanks, look forward to your comments and also if they stick out like dogs balls regards an unsanctioned modification or not - they look pretty 'unique'. Couple of photos in the daylight then at night would be great. As you know I run HID's and am happy with them, but that isn't a good enough reason for me not to buy something else!!!!!

Winnie
12th May 2017, 12:41 PM
Yeah my reason for going to these is because I was unhappy with the HIDs and needed some more light after removing my LED light bar.
They will stand out for sure, but I'm not too worried as I hardly ever drive the car.

What has made me happy. My awning hinges broke a little while again and I went back tonwhere I purchased the awning and they said that they had no parts to fix in and I will need a new awning. Well thanks to ebay and some girl power, i fixed the awning and de-moulded it at the same time. All it cost was $33.

Wise move mate , there is a special sikaflex for that , bloody expensive at $30 per tube and the stuff is a gun breaker trying to get it out .
I have maybe four of the corner brackets left unused from when I did the caravan , the supports only really work on a flat surface .

I busted two silicone guns so raced into Bunnings and bought the heaviest gun they had , lasted half a tube so put a big drill bit on the handle of an old one to stiffen it up and didn't use the screw on nozzles .
Just made it .

Scrubbed the roof with a scotch brite and metho, and wiped mounts with metho..

The set that I got for the van came with the sikaflex and an etch primer , the primer I'm positive was just acetone with black dye in it so you knew where you had prepped .
Never used it on the poptop roof just cleaned with metho and slapped the glue on , two years later I gave the poptop away but removed the panel , that glue is mighty strong stuff .

After much hair pulling and choice words finally setup the spot trace tracker and wow , not only can I get a satellite photo I can get a map , resolution not good enough to make out a car just , but sheds houses trees there is no hiding from it .
Privacy isn't really an issue so you can still crap in the woods without the sat watching you but you can tell which house your item is hiding at or which shed its in .

Put up a pic in what did you buy today , yesterday.
It's a small GPS locator that you put on a vehicle, camper trailer etc and is fitted with a motion detector and GPS , the second someone moves your car or whatever it sends you an alert message and gives you the exact location from a satellite image or a map and the coordinates of where it is .
There are hundreds of these things on the market but which one to get , we decided not to cheap out and bought locally but if you buy over the net you can pick one up for $100 - $150 bucks but then you need to setup an account which costs $119 us money for a years subscription.
If you give your details to your mates and family they can watch you as you travel which can be handy because you can tell how long you have been in a particular location eg broken down or bogged , sick etc .
More important if someone pinches your whatever you can call the cops give them the log in details and get them to retrieve or you can track the barstards down for a bit of bush justice .
Only downside is you need internet to get an alert or track but for me I have a sat phone and can ask my son to tell me where it is .
