Absolutely. He's being flown from interstate in mid-April to his forever home in the Wheatbelt.

Some will probably say he's spoilt. I say that I have provided him with the 'necessities of life'. There's a fine line. lol.

I bought one of these recently, its a soldering iron that runs off a makita 18v battery, they also make them for a wider range of makes and models. Very handy if yu are already carrying the batteries for tools or chainsaw. Heats up very quickly, small and lightweight, highly recommend it.https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/325447691200?hash=item4bc631abc0:g:8jEAAOSwtWRjdZz n&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8DFZoORNfye%2BbCpcCJmbd8uUyMG tOskgvHUGy%2BMxstS8zmFOkZrBV2LEtyFD8ipzQCzkIEJimnB hj%2FEjNeZXhIcdatmsB3qG0%2FRudO10KCqbpFoqZ9xyAfSf% 2B1BHM8npRq4un2mjC1i8JAhcL6kmlWulKAwmGaSbqIQuEqPkG 4C4veWYlvJVtNk3ntJayl%2BRtKtxLufV41EIKhMT%2FOUT%2B NIRrYxnC2g62vR8ndH6P4djO%2FvB3DCx16eepATm%2BP2VEv6 OMiGs0b%2F4xLyVHCd0wP0bDnUXonv6j1qmyyUmXWN2JCyFVr9 Tk0lzIebW7Lui2Q%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBMovaXi7Nh

Its hard to compare as its been a while since using the gas torch unit, but it heats up very quickly and is variable temperature. The tip is a blade style and you can purchase pointed and larger block configurations I believe. Its just an option and made sense since I carry the batteries for the chainsaw anyway. I find the gas unit is so small it tends to get lost in the pile of stuff in the spare parts box.

don't really know, i've got pretty good articulation and if I let the tyres way down, she seems to grab/grip reasonably well while the front is in the air.
lot of money for something that won't get used much.
had a front locker in the navara and really liked the control and added stability and sense of security it gave me.

IMHO, go for a known brand. A few years ago, a close relative of mine bought a couple of batteries online touted as being 130 AH. The batteries were woefully under capacity and did not last long. Unfortunately, the company did not honour exchange or warranty.

Nice pick up mate, I have volumes 1 & 2...... Twice!

When i drowned my GQ in 2004 I found a set in the Trading Post and was damn lucky to buy them the week i needed them. I think i paid $80 for the set. I dont remember how i came to have the second set, I bought them maybe 12 years ago and may be off face book. Happy to have both sets though. There is a 3rd folder i dont have that has some factory updates in it but i think they are in the digital version we host.

I have a full set in the Shed and a full set in my Office. obviously we have the electronic version on this forum. (Identical copies of what you are holding there mate. I spent a fair bit of time in the back side of Volume 2 today damn it trying to solve some electrical issues with this new loom splice.

the only numbers that matter are what’s listed on the yellow sticker on your driver side door jamb. “Weight not to exceed etc”

based on those weights I’m guessing you’re under 30ft so you probably have enough truck. Porpoising is normal and airbags will help but is it really that much of an issue to spend the money on? My 37ft trailer does that with my 2500 and I don’t really care. It’s not really noticeable and I don’t expect a smooth ride when I’m towing 9k lbsHuh?

Seems you need to specify your VIN in order to get the right one, which as curious as the plugs are sold as fitting across GQ/GU. I have never found much residue on the magnets anyway, but it may be important for you.

Yeah Nissan use the non magnet plug for the fill port and the magnet type for the drain port. Different part numbers. I use the magnet type for both….

Not so much. The battery drills have stuff all meat on the brushes. Can't find, let alone read any of the receipts from Bunnings to get replacements. The Reciprocating saw has no top speed anymore, either. The control circuitry is burnt out.

A few weeks ago I bought a Kings 75lt dual fridge freezer and the fridge slide arrived yesterday. I would have liked a length wise slide, not end to end, but they're unfortunately out of my price range. See how this combo pans out.

I've still got my 95lt Evakool, but the 240v adapter is so expensive for me. I've had mine for years but gone through 2 adapters, and I cut my losses there. It sits permanently in my shed with frozen dog food and other stuff in it.

Walking through the local shopping centre yesterday with the aim to buy a windbreaker jacket. Nothing spectacular, just something to keep me dry if it’s wet and rainy for an upcoming boys golf day. Had windbreakers as a kid and young adult, cheap and effective. So 12 months ago I bought a wool coat on special at Myer for about $160 which for me is a big spend, but it was a very nice coat and the original price was north of that. So anyway as we walked past Myers I said let’s check out myers for a jacket, thinking something nice might be on special again. I think those puffer jackets are for dooshbags so I’m not interested in them, but I spy this parka/nylon/plasticy jacket thing that looked ok on a plastic dummy. Sales chick comes over and says would you wanna try this on sir? I said how much is it and she said “7 39”. I didn’t quite comprehend, she saw me staring blankly at her, so elaborated “seven hundred and thirty nine dollars. Would you like to try it on?” I said “7 39 for a parka? Give me a break!” She smiled sheepishly at me and I walked away.
Around the corner I spy another jacket that looks OK. I’m checking it out and the sales guy says “I’ll give you 10% off that jacket if you want to buy it, I just sold one half an hour ago. I pulled the price tag out and read $999! “Good on ya mate” was the only reply I could come up with.

Fugginell and they’re complaining about the cost of living? Perhaps stop buying parkas from Myers!!

PS I decided an old jacket I already had was good enough! :D

A noo leaf blower.
My 20 year old 2stroke blower is cactus. So I went to Bunnings and out of their entire range they had one petrol driven blower, and it was some brand I new heard of. So I went to Total Tools and splurged on a Milwaukee blower.
Man this things an absolute beast!
By the time I put the two batteries in it, and cleaned my entire driveway, which is 50 metres long, I would have not even started my old blower. I would have just finished putting fuel in it.
Bloody expensive but, Ho Lee Chit! Worth every cent.

Picked up one of these kits yesterday, waiting for it to arrive, Should make things easier all round, Aussie Product.
https://www.ezijak.com.au/collections/ezijak/products/maxi-jack-10-ton

OK, the jack arrived and it easily lifts the front of the patrol off the ground, so easy just pushing a botton up and down, BUT, its is marketed as a 10T electric Hydraulic jack, and has a lifting capacity of 3500kg, not 10,000kg. The 10,000kg corresponds to the weight of the vehicle - these people are on drugs. I have dropped them a line to advise of the false declaration and waiting for a reply. At the very least i am expecting a partial refund because it does lift front and rear axles off the ground which was all I was looking for, however the smaller jack they sell is marketed as suitable for a 3000kg SUV - this one totally different. Annoyed once again.

Confirming here the shovel methodology works a treat, even on 200kg + loader tyres as long as it’s a decent quality shovel. I found the braided lines made a significant difference. I found the standard nissan pads also worked very well, and attribute both of them to me passing the 44 emerg braking stops that were part of the GVM upgrade process.

I have one like that made by Southern Cross Canvass, absolutely brilliant, but too big for my use now, bought a 10ft x 10ft minute tent from them, another brilliant item, 1 pole and 4 pegs, can stand up in it, breathes well and totally waterproof. We got hit by the tail of a cyclone in our big SC tent, and were the onlt tent standing next morning, everyone else flattened or in their cars, its a great format.

Those “bus” tents (used by the outback bus travel companies for fast ups and downs - poor driver ripping a dozen of them up and down a day!) also came with spring-loaded poles so the tent can flex in the breeze. Bloody fuggin ripper tents to travel with and grouse quality. Can be a bit cold though but that’s tents for ya. Far better than an oztent imho. Packs flat. Lighter. You can stand up tall in em to stretch and put ya jocks on without doing the hunchback one legged hopscotch half asleep. :D

Tried the 12v 87688876898769010T jack today, easily lifted front and rear of the Patrol, which I wanted, however its not rated at 10T, lift, which is how it is sold, but for use on a 10T vehicle weight and 3500kg max lift. Not happy, have made contact with the company, totally misrepresented. It does what I want but not with the FOS I was expecting.

If you loose a spare to a puncher or wall slice that can't be patched, it give the option to remove tyre valve, fit tube and run the trye still.

It's like a second spare but emergency use only.

I had no intention to produce or sell it and told him to go for it. Not sure if he ever made any. For the life of me I can’t find that thread now.

Didn’t have an electric brake controller installed in my current Patrol, just tow bar and trailer plug from the dealer.
Recently needed to tow a large trailer and phoned around auto elecs for brake controller install quotes. None of ‘em work Saturdays (one thing we have in common, but there lies my problem).
Then I come across this. https://www.elecbrakes.com/product/elecbrakes/?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlaaEu7_DhAMV9apmAh1DtwFKEAQYASAB EgKK9_D_BwE
Bought the unit, downloaded the app, synced it and towed home as happy as Larry it performed as good as anything hard wired.
Bloody wrapt with this unit and its portable car to car.

Going a bit different in this tub build. Instead of the run of the mill switches I decided to step it up a bit.
Sorta works out the same as its 8 switches, a fuse block, cabling, circuit breaker all in 1.
Ill do a write up on it as its a cool pit of kit..
Best part is the Bluetooth connection to the controller from the mobile..https://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2024/03/15.jpg

Today, I bought not just a brake controller, but a revolution in towing technology. Instead of opting for the conventional hardwired brake controller installation, I stumbled upon an innovative solution: the Elecbrakes portable brake controller. With its seamless integration via an app and its performance matching that of hardwired systems, I'm thrilled with its versatility and ease of use. No more waiting for Saturdays or dealing with intricate installations. This purchase has truly transformed my towing experience.

In all honesty, what is that? Looks like a sunglass box to me.
It increases the air pressure inside and helps keep dust out. Work OK at a bit of speed provided they are fitted with the opening facing the front (my offroad caravan had it the wrong way around).
Pretty much useless at low speed, especially when trying to overtake loaded road trains on the Odnadatta Track.

Bought a set of sliders, with the single bulge at the rear door and the universal mount kit, will plate top and bottom with what I have left over from the tray, should come up well, bit of welding to do, all good. Will add the front rails to the bullbar later once I have it lined up, find these great for pushing through the overhanding stuff.

So the Y62 has front hydraulic height adjustment from factory but not rear?

No ir had HBMC Hydraulic Body Motion Control that is basically a Hydraulic sway bar system. The rear springs drop out but the front doesn't have the same range of motion and needs thebsystem to be depressurised to allow the front springs to be removed safely and then depressurised on completion.

The front also needs new Upper Control arms to increase front axle load rating adding 180kgs to the front for the bar and winch

Whatever you do, dont leave the blanket draped over your car guard or bonnet. They can generate enough heat to damage the paint beyond repair, seen this a few time. The mob that are selling a system that mounts directly onto a bonnet use an insulating layer, not that i think thats a brilliant location for a device that loses efficiency above 25 DegC face temperature.

So the first bit on the left is an adaptor so it can fit over the Nissan bottle jack, piston head, I suppose you call it. The middle bit is just an extension piece, which fits over the first bit, so the vehicle can be lifted higher that what the jack can.The third bit, on the right fits on either the left of middle bit, or both together if needed, and goes under your axle when jacking up.

Hope this makes sense.

OK thanks, that does make sense. I just use a block or similar under the jack. I carry a small slab of 3/4" formply to form a decent base and can even build up under that with dirt or bits of saplings etc - do what ever is needed at the time. But almost 200k km and I have never had to use the jack, at least on my own vehicle.

I gave them the loads on front and rear and the preferred lift above standard - 50mm, and it spat out a couple of options right up to military rated coils - very impressive. I have decided to go with a set of 250-400kg variable coils with 100mm lift, should result in a lift of 30mm above what i have now and the truck will sit nice and unremarkable to PLOD. They are C45-315T coils, 22mm dia wire, pick up monday.

Good to hear someone else espousing properly rated coils over chucking in airbags. Your chassis will thank you.
Let tougher variable-rate springs do their thing via that torsion effect.
Don’t transfer direct load to the chassis through air bag-stiffened springs.
Won’t see your chassis broken in half down the track.
Install spring tower braces too as best practice.
Happy travels.

Will keep you updated.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20250609/d23e26aadc5b661e41b49a3f76ecf745.jpg

Wow how generous. Clearance sale, RRP $1890 now slashed to $1800. Crazy bargain!

So that is the price new? WOW indeed.
I have a hard time finding ARP prices online as it always sends me to their corporate site with all the pictures but no prices.
