I get what you are trying to acheive Cuppa and pretty much agree.
Indeed, where you aren't travelling with another vehicle or small group I totally agree.
Just because you can carry it doesn't mean you must.
Out in the boonies travelling alone I always work on fuel required equals the amount needed to get to the next fuel past the next fuel +10%
By that I mean (purely as an illustration) to leave point A then I carry enough fuel to get to point C.
Just in case Murphy has been to point B and screwed up the fuel availability is one reason but there are others... including paranoia

It is a quandry, one of our travel companions had a split in his long ranger tank, they saved what they could and fortunately the damage was high on the tank so there was plenty left.
Paranoia, call it what you like, still like to look at it than look for it LOL

G'day Gents,
Probably not a Mexican/Victorians (mini state) place to join in here my apologies.
Some years ago did attempt studying up on CASA fuel safety/legalities and our massive geographical country for adventures.
Reg's were something along the lines of if planned landing strip was not possible then enough fuel must have been loaded to make next backup.
In regards to touring this great land on terra firma it would make sense to me to carry what a worst case scenario could throw at us?
Cheers MB

Yeah it was me, I thought $12.37 was a high price, but as the previous owner agreed to stay on as my personal slave I thought it might make me a million or two. I even thought up a catchy new name for myself ' Automotive Plus'... not bad eh? Everyone will now be expected to make each post at least 500 words or they have to hand their free manual back. New members will have to post compromising photos of themselves, pay $89.73 for a manual & bite the heads off live newts at their first forum meetup.

Wouldn't you use the female end with a 1/2" bsp washer holding it tight.
On the troopy I had outlets front and rear, but you need to terminate them
with a female fitting, Then your air hose has the nitto male fitting one end
and a nitto female the other end, That way all your tools will have a Nitto
male screwed to them. Hope that makes sense <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<??
So basically your air gun[blower] your rattle gun, and inflation tool will all
have a male nitto fitted to them, All you need is a short piece of high pressure hose
that will reach all wheels with a female at one end and male nitto at the other end.
Length is normally about 2.2 mtrs long
At the back I had air and water very handy indeed

Brought some of these connectors so now I have a weatherproof join
and I'm able to service different 12v items, on my camper and Patrol
Now there's a thing...
I have always wondered what the purpose is of pre-assembled Weatherproof Connector that has to have the equipment wires crimped/spliced/whatever in about 2 inches away from the connector.
That now means you have 3 connections where you only need 1 (splice to connection to splice instead of just a connection)
Wouldn't you be better off buying the Weatherproof Connector and just assemble it with the original equipment wires ?

Years ago I helped a fellow sparky wire a flash boat, real flash it was. We had insulated crimp connectors you know the red, blue and yellow ones.
But, they were grease filled with a seal that the cable was pushed through into the connector then crimped.
Were supposed to be waterproof and corrosion resistant.
Can they still be sourced?

Hey mate, yeah they are available. Hideously expensive of course but certainly available. I would think a solder join and some resin filled heatshrink would be the easiest method for joining onto these.
But of course it is another unnecessary join.

We use these connectors that are filled with solder and glue filled heatshrink, just use a heat gun and it solders and heat shrinks in 1 go. We have these specifically for PE's inside a saw unit which is subjected to constant vibration, saw shavings and coolant. It been years since we have had an issue with them.
On another note. I'm guessing you sponser a certain big green GQ at tuff trucks???

You can get crimps (red, blue & yellow) with hot melt glue filled heat shrink sleeves that work quite well.
Raychem Eviro splices are great, a crimp sleeve then a heat shrink sleeve with hot melt glue rings at each end, best for teflon insulated wire as they need to get too hot for PVC insulation.

Not going to argue about it but any wiring job that has a SL somewhere in the system
that will be the weak spot and it will fail on a 4x4... TJM wired my trailer plug with scotch locks
as it was time effective [cheap] had a huge talk about why they shouldn't be used.
Now all TJM shops use solder and heatshrink on all
trailer plug installs never had a problem since

I agree for the most part but, actually, NASA soldered everything when they alledgedly lobbed a few blokes onto the Moon.
NASA set a standard called HRHS (High Reliability Hand Soldering) which was a bastard qualification to get but set the bar for the best part of 30 years.
I must have soldered about 200 bifurcates before I got enough to pass.
Crimping is now the standard in aerospace and rightfully so due to repeatability, quality assurance, ease of inspection and weight saving.

For others following if your interested in what wire wrap (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wire_wrap) is...
I knew they used the procedure on the Shuttle but found out later it went all the way back to the Apollo and earlier. The guidance computers and everything were done with wire wrap. I hated it, mainly because when repairing stuff it was a pain to work on. See the pics on the Wiki page...what a nightmare!

Bugger if you had a bit of a hot spot in the middle of the board. Locomotives used mainly spade lugs for medium voltage contactor control, crimped and/or soldered lugs for high voltage motor control.

Usually they move the wheel out 35mm and up 60mm for the larger tyres,
Wouldnt think you'd need them for 33"s or 285s.

I have mentioned them a few times. The best way to use the site is too become a member then using the vin from your patrol save it to your garage. They have full parts breakdown available. They dont have everything but they have an awful lot and not just for nissans.
www.partsouq.com
There are another 2 sites which sometimes will have the parts in stock and cheaper sometimes as well.
www.carmarka.com
www.amayama.com
The good thing about partsouq is they allow you shop in AUD so you can see pricing relevant to us. Shipping can be a killer but when your paying 1/4 or sometimes even up to a tenth of the price it doesnt matter.

At the very least it gives you full access to part numbers. So if the sites above do not stock then you can waddle down to your local nissan stealer give them the part number, be ripped a new one and get your part. Easier when dealing with the numpties behind the counter.

As I understand it, water to air works well on petrol powered road cars where the boost is only in relatively short bursts and the water in the cooler gets some adiabatic cooling between bursts of high boost, they rely a lot on thermal mass.
Turbo Diesels run boost for long periods of time so they heat up the water & become less efficient.

Heya bloke. Yeah out of Frozenboost. ordered 1st June, here 13th but spent more time in OZ than anywhere else en-route.
Didn't want a top mount cooler so vehicle remains as stock looking as possible. Th Pig has a front mount cooler and it creates probs with airflow when using big boost.
Also costs a psi or 2 with the 1/2k of plumbing from turbo to inlet. This lot should reduce egt's without boost loss.
They are a very solid unit the boxier one must weigh between 2-3 kg!
Both those units and the fillers cost less delivered than a single pwr unit. Very pleased!

Cool. The type 17 is a 1200hp core and same shape as the one pictured. Currently using one on a patrol with around 200hp. In the process of getting a manifold fabricated that incorporates the core into it.

Hey bloke, great minds and all that! Wanted to do same with cores and manifold, had 'designed' the thing in my head but the nay sayers dragged me down
with cost and manufacture devils. The big argument was cooling, water in, from one end only, the exit of course is not as cool as the entry.
I reckoned water ingress from both ends and egress from centre. This of course led to arguments re welding/sealing at those ends of the core.
I backed down on it to get the build bloody well done. I do have a spare manifold tho. Will be giving it further thought as time allows!

I started a thread a while back and started hunting for coolers in the size bracket as the air to air coolers..
I agree price wise is not an issue as they are cheaper than most brand name a2a cores..
Be sure to do a thread mate. I'm very interested.. especially seeing mine showed a few leaks on the last desert trip..
