Merit plug/ socket to it so I can plug it inline with the solar panel to let me know whats going on.
Plus my photo sensitive light switches arrived so I can set my

Watt meters were only $15 Each off Ebay.
Not being familiar with these meters do I fit it at the solar panel end or at the Battery end

Running gas or gasless?
The welder does both. But I welded gasless today and it's way easier than my arc welder. My first run was like chook poo but after I'd finished the job I didn't even have to grind the welds back. It's great to be able to weld thinner stuff without blowing holes everywhere.

But it will be interesting when I attack my door and attempt to plug weld.

mudski
24th May 2014, 11:37 PM
Yeah I have to bend a piece of flat metal to the curve of the door and then slide it up inside the skin and weld through holes drilled. Grind it all back, bog, sand and paint.

I have recently been using an inverter welder, it replaces my Transarc CIG.
IMO it'll weld better on thinner material as it doesn't flare up when first arched.
plus you can fit a tig later if required

Well my stick welder would just blow holes in anything thin, so this is perfect for my home use. Dunno the difference between inverter welder and others, plus Tig welding???

Left side hub. I noticed when I had them off a couple of weeks ago putting the locker in that the seal runner was rat chit and the inner bearing must have been over tight at one stage as it had worn into the seal ring about 2mm. No wonder that side was always getting water in... So another thing to do, and yet another reason for the wife to whine about me spending more time in the garage than with her.

Must keep the fridge running. Thats a must. We lasted four days on our last trip running a 75L Engel Combi fridge/ freezer and camp lights with two 105AH AGM's. Not once did I have to pull the panels out. Charge only got down to 12.2V too.

Nail polish has its uses especially on a petrol engine.
Many years ago we were racing a Super Modified at Warrnambool and after an altercation with some one we ended up with a cracked distributor cap
Wife`s, sorry girlfriend back then nail polish to the rescue. Stopped the high voltage tracking through the crack and we completed the meet.
Ps don't use the one with glitter in it.

As a Radio Technician I always had some nail polish on my bench to lock trimpots in place after adjusting them. (would occasionally do my toe nails too)
Have also seen it used to repair scratches in paintwork.

Gotta love it. My previous roadies I paid $399 for the five with rims around 18months ago. Done 50k on them and sold them last week for $400!!!! So they cost me nothing to run on....
I missed out on a great set on Coopers today but they were for 17's, 5 sold for under $200 with atleast 70percent tread, as I was contemplating getting some GUIV alloys. Not now....

I made a set of pins for a local bloke which go threw the holes on the tracks and mount to the roof rack sides.
He wanted his welded but no reason why you couldn't simply drill a hole threw top rail and use a long bolt.
Just drill a hole in the end for a ring pin or R clip or padlock to hold em on with and a bit or the foam floor matting spiked over the mounts behind the tracks to stop vibrations..

What sort of antennae did you use?
Snicko you don't need another antennae but the one I bought had one with it so I just fitted it up, it was a 4.5 db one for close range hilly conditions so you can pick up over the Sandhills, my other one has a 6.5 db for longer range stuff on the flat.
If you get one just a 3db will be fine but you will need and adaptor to fit into your flexi antennae hole to the fitting on the cable.

I went down to my local SCA, as I do contract work for them and I know them pretty well. Plus I have a trade card so it's an extra 10% percent off. I go to the counter and hand over my trade card. The girl says for me to give her my Club Plus card instead. I asked why and she quietly said that this washer goes on sale on the weekend at 20% off so I will get 20% over the 10% off. Sweet as bro! Watch out for them. They bite. A mate of mine has one, I was using it under his cruiser, went under the car to the other side, sweet, went to go back and of corse I got about 2" of skin under my arm caught in the wheel as it rotated around. Wife left my pride and joy without the trickle charger on when I when O/S in April, killed the wet cell Bosch so when I ordered the AGM's for the CSU (Camping Support Unit) I piled on a Yellow top Optima, just installed it today since I was working on the other project.

You reckon you'll ever use them Drew? I have been contemplating these things for a while now and can't make up my mind on them. I mean these are more for sand aren't they? Unless you do sand driving....

So I have seen but I thought it would be just as quick to use the winch. But it all depends on the circumstances I suppose. Food for thought.

Yes you are right and really probably not needed. But could be helpful. Horses for courses.

From experience mate, it's rarely ever quick to use the winch......
Much faster to grab a traction board off the roof in certain circumstances and you don't always have anything to winch from.

Wanted a cheap 4.8 rivet setting tool went to three stores in the area, none to be found. Ended up buying an air one, couldn't find a cheap on of those either, at SuperCheap (?) Isn't dual action but set SS 4.8 rivets pretty well.

Anything but RTC. I was warned not to get one when I got the first one. I didn't listen and had nothing but issues. It finally failed and lost all its oil, so I took it back for warranty and wanted to pay extra for something else but they would only replace what I had returned. So I took it and its doing the exact same thing. Leaking. Plus if you don't fit these exactly spot on, your car will pull to either side. RTCs do absolutely nothing for the steering wheel wobbles too, just incase your wondering.
I'm just waiting for this one to completely let go and then I will go an OME dampener maybe.

Bought a new tent, well tried to but my $100 voucher had issues so they are going to process it all Monday. What I'm looking at is the companion EXO pro 430. It's a turbo tent similar to the black wolf ones, but lots cheaper as they are 50% off :) also slightly better as they are actually canvas with a PVC floor.

Having lost that many tools I decided to give myself an early birthday present. [not telling]
Now I have them under lock and key in a tamper proof cupboard. Picked up the 1/2" set for $145 so a bit of a bargain

I did think about getting one of the 9500lb or 12000lb jobs because of being able to run them off 24Vdc and the line speed is quicker but thought it would probably be a waste as I don't think I'll use the winch that often anyway, so save a bit of coin and put it to something else

I came to the same decision. I think MR is probably the only one that would benefit from the competition winches. The rest of us plebs can get by on something less awesome.
They still do the same thing just a wee bit slower lols. Mine dragged me up heartbreak hill in Harvey last month so it's good enough for me
