    Quitting smoking

I thought that I would start this thread to assist those members trying to give up the Habit.

I have not had a smoke in over 18 Months. I was diagnosed with type2 diabetes three years ago and the Doctor was always on my back to give it up. The Nurse giving me my 6 monthly examination told me about a friend of hers that gave it up after a course of tablets prescribed by her Doctor. I asked my Doctor for a prescription for the Tablets which he gave me. Gave up smoking within a week of starting on Tablets.
I still would love a Smoke every now and then but is not a craving anymore.

Hard but well worth the effort.

I know Roofy has given up for two years and Kat is trying right now.

Any others or your Stories about giving up smoking

Yep - want to give up also ... no story as such, just know that it is time ... quit once before and didn't touch a smoke for 4 years - don't know why I started again (about 3 years ago), but rue that decision every time I light one ...

I havnt had a smoke in just on 18 years...

I set myself a goal and stuck to it. "When a pack of smokes readhes $2.00 I'll give up." I had been talking myself out of the habit for around 12 months after waking up each morning and smelling the stench of smoke on everything. So I started to smoke less each day and when they reached $2.00 a pack I simply threw them away and didnt buy anymore.

I did take up martial arts (Hap Ki Do) to give myself somthing else to concentrate on and it worked. Been getting healthier, and richer, ever since. (Well, family of four, house, mortgage and 4W drivin... not so rich...!!)

All you have to do is set yourself a goal and achieve it. Work towards it with smaller goals. You will be much happier that you did.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Keep at it boys. Youre on the right track talking about it and realising that it is a bad thing.

    Well done.

Right - you've inspired me, when they reach $37 a pack, that's it!! LOL. Appreciate what you mean mate - my intent is to cold turkey also, but the missus has to do it at the same time (she wants to also) so we aren't feeling the need around each other.

That said, I know a bit of martial arts also - it's called "Plugger Do Kai" ... But I have to be wearing my thongs (feet) when I do it and its usually only when a bee is hanging around me!!!! LMFAO!!!
