It's pretty easy to just drop one section Drew. Each of the seems has a tension rod, removing one of the door trims and unfold and you will expose one of these, bend and lift and it will drop out. I would just get a length of Nylon strap or similar and use it as a trace and thread your cables wherever you need it mate.

Ask AB for one of those rods he had as a flag pole for the Simpson. Perfect for the task. Don't get too carried away with pulling down too much lining.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Looking forward to seeing your roof lining.
The paint is polyurethane gloss black in a pressure pack. I would have used por15, but once I had to try and remove this paint and it bloody tough, so I'm happy to use it.
IMO and should be taken with a grain of salt.

And it's in. Bloody nightmare of a job.

The freshly lubed input shaft makes the clutch really light. Actually feels like a boosted clutch. Very happy with the end result. And glad this job is out of the way.
IMO and should be taken with a grain of salt.

You've got it sitting up high on stands, so how did you actually lift the gearbox up? Isn't it about 200-250kgs? Obviously didn't do it by hand, but working from under there on the floor, must have been a pain which ever way you did it?
    Thanks, Cameron

I used an engine crane through the drivers door going through the transmission tunnel. Used a couple of 10000 pound strops slung around the box. Could tell just how heavy the box was when the strops would creek and moan when moving the crane around.

Couldn't move it by hand, so used long threads with washers and nuts to draw the box up to the engine. Spent about 3 painful hours getting the angles correct with jacks. Was so happy when the threads actually started to engage. Not an easy job that's for sure. But do-able even if doing it solo.
IMO and should be taken with a grain of salt.
