Yep I hated every minute of it. Got quite good at sharpening drill bits though. And drilling through welds is a bitch. That metal is bloody hard!
IMO and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Bearing kit arrived today. Big box full of many little boxes. Was like Christmas.
Was keen to put a couple in...

    Has been a busy day.

    New rear main seal installed.

Back of the engine without seal. Welsh plugs look in excellent shape.

The old spigot bearing. Was making an awful hum when clutch was depressed. Was not the release bearing!
Used a 16mm bolt, a 4pound hammer and bread to remove. Worked bloody well.

Should add, I asked a couple of mates if they wanted to give me a hand. All of a sudden, everyone is busy. Doing this solo.

Awesome job Parksy, what is the paint you have used on the gearbox mate? POR15 or just a gloss black?

Looking forward to seeing your roof lining.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
