So im assuming that its the fuel stop soliniod cutting the power to the pump.
Only thing is i dont know where it is.....

And the other thing is i get very bad fuel economy, you mentioned you did carby work. Did it improve fuel consumption?

Im not blowing any smoke at all so im pretty sure all the fuel is being burnt

    Apart from that im
Rusty, my vehicle is a 94. My fuel pump control unit is situated in the bottom of d/s kick panel. The timer for running the fuel pump whilst the oil pressure rises is defective on mine, due to moisture ingress (it is only a problem if I've drained the carby. ) If your pump is not running, and the fuses are not blown, it may just be the control unit playing up due to moisture or vibration damage, etc.

The fuel cut out solenoid is situated on the carby, ( some one please correct me if I'm wrong). The second stage of the carby was sticking at any position and at random times, and it caused the engine to be an absolute dog. I fixed that by using wet 'n' dry on the butterfly and the carby bore to free it up. The auto choke was playing up so I replaced it with a manual one. As for fuel economy, I got the auto advance diaphragm on the distributor reconditioned.(through Bursons in Warnambool). I used a converted bicycle pump to check it (gently) and found the diaphragm had a small hole in it. After it was fixed, That made my economy to around 15 .64 lt/ 100k at 90 -95 ks an hour( if I calculated it correctly. I'm no mathematician)

There isnt many RB30 patrols that get good economy, many get up and around what the TB42s get
Even if a few litres less ,its definatley worth the extra power for the extra fuel

My Dmax would get down to 7.5l/100 on the highway and around 9 in the city. And thats driving it like I stole it. Not a troll of course but a good, powerful and economical engine IMO. I got to Melbourne to Adelaide on one tank, 65ltrs and drove another 80k's before the fuel light came on. That was pretty awesome...

Didn't even know there was a trailer behind it most times. At take off like any vehicle towing you could notice it but once you moving it was great.

I agree that the new vehicle fuel ecnomey is great , all controlled by computer and a multitude of sensors the all require x amount of voltage to work , as soon as the battery is not able to hold or get that charge it all seems to stop , from what I understand the new diesals are just as open to water in the electrics as any of the new petrol motors , and as far as fuel costs if you have to worry about that dont own a big 4wd get a suzuki 1lt we had one as a second car for ten years awsome fun cheep to run easy to fix , did a engine swap gearbox swap and clutch and was back on the road after lunch.

Re: old tec vs new tec

the control unit is unplugged and the lpg runs.
Next test is plug it back in and and unplug the fuel pump in the tank.
Apears to be a faulty pump.

I'll replace it anyway to be sure later
