    Ive had a common rail hitech in a 4B plus our two work vans have that motor. They perform really well and are not thirsty.

    But the EDU failed on the 4B and left us stranded in the bush, a big tow to a road then a trailer 3 hours to home. It took mechanics 3 days to fix as "this has never happened before"
    (Electronic Distribution Unit, it fires the injectors)

    Got rid of that vehicle and bought the Patrol, it has some electrics on the fuel pump but thats all, and it has not been to the mechanics as a result of a trip not like the other "unbreakable" vehicle.

    Simplicity is best even if it does use a lot more fuel.
