I'm afraid I have to ask a question here in real girlie terms here ;-)
I drive a Nissan Patrol '89, it runs on LPG and petrol.
If I drive it on petrol I only get about 200km out of one tank, sometimes even less. Also, the tank never seems to fill up all the way or at least the indicator never shows it does. Seems to only be 80% full.
LPG seems to last a bit longer but I don't think I could get more that 450km out of both tanks...this is normal everyday driving on sealed roads, no 4wd, no towing, no big loads.
Could someone please tell me if this is normal? I have to admit I have no idea....but I love my car :-)
Thanks guys!
iam getting around 14-15 ltrs i think. did 770kms and filled up with 110ltrs of diesel. that was going from parramatta driving around woolongong through all the hills in kangaroo valley, up through bowral to campbelltown and back home. and also general driving to work and back etc. does this sound good?
its a 89 n/a deisel. with 415000kms on it. has 33s 6"lift bullbar winch custom rearbar. and apparently fuel pump has been turned up by previous owner. wether thats true or not unsure
I’ve worked out some averages for my car so far as I’m curious to see every mod how it affects fuel economy in diffrent situations each one is over 6 tanks of fuel
All test done with bullbar,sliders/brushbars,roof rack, steel rear bar, winch.
90% of the 33"mtz testing was with 1.3ton camper in tow.
33s mtz. With Steinbauer Power Module:
18l/100 - 22l/100
33s mtz. no Steinbauer Power Module:
17l/100 - 21l/100
Original tyres (275 65 r17) with Steinbauer Power Module:
14l/100 - 16l/100
Original tyres (275 65 r17) no Steinbauer Power Module:
14l/100 - 19l/100
my new truck is a 93 ti with the tb42, has 35's on it and no gas. last few tanks around town were between 15-16L/100km. on the highway it used 12L/100km. not too bad as previous owner said it sucks 20L no matter what the conditions are.
maybe he ment how much he drinks per day![]()
So Bigrig, When are you gonna post up what you had done, as my young bloke has a GQ with the TB42E on dual fuel and his consumption is horrendous, he is saving for some mods to make things better like headers, exhaust, new airbox, and computer, but if you have any other suggestions as to what he can do it would be much appreciated, Cheers.

Hi , 1991 maverick lwb , td42 , 330,0000 kms .standard spec. just come back from a short trip from Sydney to Hill End about 640kms round trip - loaded with camping gear 2 people , push bikes on roof etc - averaged 12.5 litres /100kms - Not bad for crossing blue mountains there and back.
over fueling slightly - blowing some black smoke on up hill sections - so may be able to improve slightly ?
Cheers .
11.6L/100Km was 12.4 last tank. 30% city/70% hwy
