do you have measurements for this? keen to do it! got some time in the next few weeks!
cheers

Its coming mate. Just about finished. The magnetic latch I'm not happy with so I have taken it out. I just need to get the latch and plate to meet exactly but its proving to be a pain to get right. Will try again over the weekend. Pics of the semi finished job...

BTW. My leather steering wheel is in your dad's magic hands. I dropped it off today. Hopefully he can do something with it. I spoke to your mum and told her I was quoted $450 to totally recover the wheel! By an auto upholsterer.I nearly wrapped the wheel around the blokes neck when he told me.

I tapped that app...

Successfully fitted a UHF radio to the Patrol & yes I did power it directly from the battery, with an aditional fuse close to the battery terminal. Got it all in, battery reconnected, went to switch it on for the first time .....nothing! A tad disheartening to say the least! several pokes to the/on of button ....still nothing. Eventually, & before pulling the whole thing out again, I discovered by accident that on off is not just a simple click, but rather the button has to be held on for a second or two......phew! Even though I was parked inside a corrugated iron shed with the bonnet up blocking the antenna from the only open side of the shed I got a truckie talking to his mate about a load he's picking up tomorrow in my ear (Also fitted an extension speaker to the top of the plastic seatbelt cover just inches from my right ear). I thought that was pretty good seeings I'm also 30kms from the nearest town/highway.

Made mine a cargo barrier today that's moveable so I can have behind either the 2nd or 3rd row of seats. used some 25x25x3 RSH and a pipe bender to make the frame it worked out better than I thought it would and then welded on some reinforcing meshing that was left over from the shed floor.
Also made up a rear hook mount that goes onto the standard tow point. Beefed up the attachment section of the chassis with a length of 12mm flat bar, only issue with the whole thing was having to drop the fuel tank that has about 80lts in it

Found the source of one of the annoying under dash vibrations. The center panel has the ducting for the vents, and the vents sit within the duct, but I suppose over time the Original foam around the vents becomes weak and doesn't provide the cushioning effect so the duct then has something to vibrate against. Fixed by putting foam tape around the inside of the duct. Annoying noise gone. :)

Fitted a home made bracket between the power steering pump reservoir bracket and the fire wall. The new bracket will carry a proper water proof winch control box. The radio controller fits neatly inside the crappy original box, so I am gunna put hinges a latch and padding inside it. That way I can chuck the hand held and cord under the seat and know they will be protected.

There is a laser cutting workshop in Portland. I've used them to do some small jobs for me and their work was perfect. I was thinking of using them when I do my rear bar. I use one of the local sheet metal workshops to do all my visible welding, because he does a very high quality job.

going to fit a Diesel smart IC, in the next week or so, seems to be the best value for money IC going around.
Some of the prices going around are just ridiculus. Plus DS ICs are pressure tested to 60psi. happy with that

Also fitted single grey wiper blades from SCA,
Don't buy dual blade jobs as when they back sweep
its dry causing windsheild to scratch

The light bar looks good, mate. I made a card board mock-up of my winch, so I can make a cradle. I have noticed that a winch bar has a vertical surface to mount winches, but most of the winch cradles have a horizontal mount. I am going to try and make the cradle like a winch bar, IE a vertical mount.

Grrrrrrrrr........ Spent all day stuffing around doing a job I had thought would take a couple of hours max. Fitting the factory wheel arch flares & the non factory mud flaps. If I had been willing to pay the crazy money Nissan wanted for their wide wheel pack mud flaps the job would have been all over & done in an hour, but instead I have had to fabricate brackets to mount the flaps. The factory flaps mount with three fasteners each, two of which are plastic 'scrivets'. Of course the bloody scrivets supplied with the flares are too short for the aftermarket flaps which are thicker. Twice I attempted to stick some plastic inside the flares with you beaut Loctite 406 & 771 primer. All looked good until I was screwing into it & it fell off inside the flare. I lost count of the number of times I had the flare on & off. Loctite and epoxy putty finally got things sorted. Hope so, 'cos once the flares are stuck on with the supplied double sided tape there will be no access to their inside.

My arc welding has improved & good enough for the brackets, (which will provide stronger mounting than the factory set up) but determining hole positions was a bit harder. Having to cut the metal strips out of old scrap laying around took a bit of time too.
The light beat me tonight so I have left the brackets, screw heads & washers painted & drying overnight. Hopefully I'll get it all together tomorrow morning & be able to get into town to have the new wheels & tyres fitted.

Ya gotta get rid of that bloody bar though mate! Not sure what Nissan were thinking! It's horrid!

Its not that bad lol theres nothing wrong with some bling for the street mate haha a 3" lift sounds good tho...

Hey Mudrunner...I get worried about smashing up my sills, rear bar and steps with 3" lift... don't know how George's still look OK....

Did you get it sorted mate as I'm hoping they fit your width properly

Wish I could say I fitted EGT and boost gauges...but can only say drilled a messy hole in my dump pipe.
Was trying to tap a thread in for the fitting but stuffed it up. I'll have to find someone Tuesday morning to weld one on.

The rest of it's almost done with no probs though.

Also going to cut some Laser plates to mount Fire extingishers in cab.
The BEST Position is either in front or beside the driver.
Reason being its the FIRST thing to grab in the advent of a fire.
No point mounting them say on your cargo barrier, or cargo area
Will be very cost effective, plus save you drilling into floor.
Been thinking on this for a while.
I'm still waiting for my IC to arrive thinking Tuesday everything is Tuesday

Towed a 7 x 5 trailer around the bush & cut 9 loads of firewood. Thought some of the slopes might've bit slippery in places (clay) but the new tyres took it in their stride. Pulling away on a steep hill with a full load of firewood in tow is a pleasure with the Patrol, it makes such easy work of it.

Seriously steep and ledgy going up, steep, lumpy and slippery (back overtaking the front style) coming down the other side.

Three chain track used to join up with Tobacco flat until the track was bulldozed so you couldn't get through. We went the whole way on our trail bikes and no wonder, I have never seen a steep and rutted hill like this before.

Anyway today I brought some upholstery dye in a spray can and sprayed the centre console lid, colour is like a green/grey slate
so darker than OE, Looks good as its a contrast to the light grey. Now for ash tray lid ETC, ETC LOL
I'll put a pic up tomorrow.

@ Florix it only rained once today lol
