Not really, I suppose I dont like the Idea off the air having to do a u turn to enter the intake, andvthe ram head was 83 bucks.

Picked up my new 2nd hand rhino rack this evening........ 3 heavy duty bars with 110mm legs, 1800mm alloy rack, high lift jack holder and a spare set of longer 150mm legs. Was a little fiddly fitting it in thee dark and I have to say the wind noise is far less noticeable than with my old full length rack.

@ Ben e suppose they just have stainless is because, the std black ram head looks a bit cheap on a $800 piece of snorkel
IMO they look un finished without something on the end , a fabbed S/S would look trick

It was made by a boat builder. It goes on the passenger side wheen arch, I also have to relocate the vacuum canister and hoses etc and I am going to use a cheap catch can as the overflow bottle, as the factory one is in the way.

Would you say it takes up more space than the factory 4.5 barrel air box ??

That unit looks like its made from alloy, i was going to use 1.2mm stainless only coz my tig doesn't do ally.

Am waiting for my eBay fuse holder to arrive & I'll fit my Stebel Nautilus knock off, (as recommended by TD). Came with relay included for $26. Almost gave myself & MrsTea a heart attack when I tested it with a small 12v battery in our living room one evening ........ & I knew I was about to do it, unlike MrsTea who was happily immersed in 'Offspring'. LOL. Don't think anyone will have trouble hearing it once fitted in the Patrol.

Bought some Aldi dished floor mats today, put them in her car, & retrieved the deeper ones she'd been using & put them in the Patrol. The tyre repair kit they had on special seems like good value too.

The manifold breather gets diverted through it to prevent oil vapours from getting from the manifold breather to the air intake and possibly fowling the MAF sensor.

Over the weekend just gone, I ripped out the following:

1 - Dodgy wiring for my spot lights as they were cutting in-out whilst on and shorting out
2 - Removed the old UHF antenna and unit as the antenna was cut in many places and re-attached over time from previous owners.
3 - Removed the Pioneer double din gps unit as it was crap for off-road and map updates are a small fortune (+$300 for ’12 latest).

Once I cleaned out old wiring & removed half the interior I installed:

1 - New UHF antenna and unit. I have now got a compact unit, Uniden UH7700NB.
2 - Rewired the spotlights with new ballast and wire loom.
3 - Installed a single din Pioneer DEH-X6550BT and Pioneer rear door speakers.
4 - Replaced my rear fake all red lights for some eBay specials, I just need to wire the drivers side (eventually).
5 – Got some help to install my NADS – Boost, EGT, Pillar Pod, Catch can and blanking plate.
6 – Installed a 22inch LED light-bar, and almost blinded myself in the process.
7 - Also installed a bash plate, and about to buy a hardcase diff protector

Overall, a busy weekend for me, but well worth it. Engine bay looks a lot tidier with no loose dodgy wires appearing, the interior is a little neater and more manageable for the wife.
I also did my first minor service, changed the oil & air filter, used Penrite 15w50. Cleaned the MAF. I could not for the life of me get the fuel filter off – any tricks would be great.

So far no oil leaks seen, so I must have done something right, lol

Next on the cards is a DP chip, but I think I will get that installed professionally.

Have it set at a safe 17psi with spikes only up to 18psi under heavy load in second gear. WOW what a difference it has made to the car. After having the injector pump done and driven home it was still driving as it always did, slow and sluggish but now the acceleration is 5h1t loads better!! with the set up I blocked the EGR aswell the other week so my EGT's are down quite a bit too, going up to 250 where it would be 300-320 before.

The other day I had a tip truck full of tree mulch delivered on my front lawn.

For the past 2 days, I've been hand shovelling the mulch into the back of my truck, driving it around to the back yard, and unloading it by hand.

My pod smells like a Eucalyptus tree. No more sinus probs, either. lol

My sinus have been given me grief for the last few weeks as well. So that's all I need to do to fix it. lol

Also ripped out my MAF and my jaw dropped. How one this dirty can actually still let a car run is surprising. Hopefully a new one will sort my power issues out.

I have hated the fact that the trailer socket was attached on the bottom of the bumper, where it was exposed to damage. I removed the useless recovery loop, made a stainless steel plate and repositioned the flat 7 pin trailer socket there, and wired in a round 7 pin socket next to it. So now the wiring is above the factory bumper. I will eventually hide the wiring in the bumper and make a stainless steel box to house the sockets.

( I didnt think there would be that much of a difference ?? )...had to get the vehicle to them which wasnt possible....got onto a place called Right price exhausts in Brisbane and glad I did....they used redback components and pacemaker extractors , broke it down to 5 sections and flanged it all and with dot welds for orientation , mandrel bends (obviously because of redback).and sent it to me..went in perfectly and tucked up nicely above chassis line with the same configeration as the original....couldnt be happier...

I told him I was going to wrap the extractors for heat reasons and he said not to !...said it is better to coat than wrap because wrapping eventually destroys the extractors quite quickly....I have read here about other people wrapping their extractors....so can anyone enlighten me on what is right about the wrapping of them ??....cheers

Have you got pictures of the cracks westy? Curious to know where the gq's body's crack. If it's a common thing or your rig has been involved in some heavy landings.

If you do find cracks remember to drill the end of the So you have a radius end, or it will keep cracking.
Small 3mm hole is enough

Got wheel bearing done.. Guess it didn't seat properly because all nuts were tight.
So have reset and put back together. Getting more confident with it all now.. 15 mins to do side..

Then started on the roof rack.. Got the width right but it sits 3mm Off the roof so to low.. Half removed the old bulky mounts and will make some nice ones..

Yes they are 15" rims and only just fit. But IMO they are too small as I had a problem today where rocks were getting between rim and disc and had no where to go. The guard over the disc only left a 10mm gap and rock getting caught up and squealing. So it'll be 16" rim for me

There is a lengthy bed in period but after 50Ks its pulling up 5 times better already,,,,,,,,,,,,
Very happy camper, Next braided lines to stop swelling and better protection from sticks.
Plus coming up to 200K so maybe worth changing a few things, also noticed the rubbers on top
of coils were U/S so will change the to 15mm poly jobs

Fitted a new passenger side engine mount, it was forked. Gympie diesel let me use their work shop and hoist to do it which was great. So much better than doing it on your back in the garage. I was going to fit the drivers side one which is still alright, but I didn't want to use their hoist all day especially when paying customers could have used it
I fitted my hybrid superflex arms too. I will flex it ip tomorrow. :D
