Td's do vibrate, the have an odd firing order, if you have aftermarket engine mounts like the superior engineering ones that use a trailing arm bush. The vibrations will be amplified a bit.

Yeah I've got these engine mounts and the vibration at idle is pretty bad. I should have just done it on the one side.

Small hijack, if I may.. While there are so many GU 4.2 owners in the same thread, please give me your opinion on the vibration level you feel in the driver's seat while idling.
I was probably spoilt by a very smooth TB45 petrol engine that idled beautifully but I'm finding the vibration from my converted TD42 auto quite noticeable. Maybe it's an auto trans thing..

Cut some 6mm rubber and fit it under where the seat mounts,
made a huge difference in mine from road vibrations,
I just cut up some old conveyor belting

Yes, I was warned about the Superior mounts by a friend in WA who did the same TB45 Ti auto to TD42 auto conversion. He says he even has his sunroof frame that vibrates when he selects Drive.

I retained the little shock absorbers that the TB45s have on their engine mounts for the TD engine hoping it would help smooth things.

I'll see if I can learn to live with it..

I have changed oil heaps of times before , so i know the basics. just the first time on the 4.2 so, all tips and tricks are welcome as every car has its own hurdles . . .

I cover the oil filters with a plastic shopping bag which stops the oil pouring out and making a mess

I just have a spill tray made out of unistrut with tabs that use some existing bolt holes in the block and oil cooler

I have seen some bolt on trays under the filters that a bloke sells on the other forum ...
I had a look earlier and I reckon I can shape one of them alloy BBQ trays temporary for the same purpose.

Which way does the washer go. Plug through the flat side first or the flat side up against the sump ??
