MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure which means it reads boost pressure + atmospheric pressure (usually add another 14.5 psi) hence the difference.

MAP is more important anyway, thats why the ECU monitors MAP not Boost

MAF x MAP X Compression Ratio = Cylinder Pressure = How much Oxygen is there to mix with Diesel and blow up

Boost X Compression Ratio = an arbitary number that may or may not be good or bad or somewhere in between
