96 GQ coil cab TD42T
Welcome. My 2 cents, buy a new one and start saving for a duramax conversion. Thats my plan!![]()
2004 4.2TD ST, Berrima Diesel Injector Tuned, Viper 3" SS exhaust, Cross Country Ultimate Intercooler, Solvaris sound proofing, DigOptions GPS/MMU, 220mm Roo Lights, PIONEER TS-D1602R 6.5" x 4 speakers, Autocar EGT&Boost gauges, Brown Davis 80L Aux, Icom 440, Alloy drawers and cargo barrier, 2" Amanda Extreme / Dobson / PolyAir lift, CSA mags with Toyo ATII tyres, Rhino Pioneer roof rack now with brackets, Performance 4x4 16g Large.
I'll put my vote in for the TD42.
4.2s aren't bad, but still gutless even with a whole heap of cash thrown at them. Petrol power is the way to go!

I know my "gutless" TD42 still has more Kw (and usable) than my TB42 had
and I can tow my Van up the hills near Donnybrook - unlike my TB42........
Shane'o
you say your after touring and towing a tinny...............
well, a TD42 would do the job, not lightning fast - but it will do the Job - you WILL want more out of it the longer you own it
3" exhaust
bigger Turbo
bigger or Better Intercooler
upgraded Injector Pump
all of these cost coin....... lots and lots of coin for a 4.2
- which as some have said - is a Dinosaur (mind you the 4.3 in the Jeeps is the old Hemi 245 - from early 70's......) when your on a good thing "stick to it"
it all depends on what you want to do with it, and how much your prepared to spend, and how long you want to keep it
Tidy Whitey - 99 GU TD42Ti - Diesel Gas, (GUIV Turbo & Intercooler 8Lb boost), 33" Micky T's Baja MTZ's, Dual Batt's, Cargo Barrier, rear draws, HID Super Oscars, winch, Grinch & witch attached and more goodies to come
