In the begining there was a F100 shorty 4x4 it was a great truck would pull a block of flats which out hesitation was great in summer but the well ventilated cab got a bit unbearable after 3 winters so on the hunt i went came across a nice looking 96 GQ coil cab ute was love at first sight it came from out west Barcaldine way. It had steel tray, long range fuel tank, heavy duty bull bar and side steps stock td and 200k on the clock, a/c steer and a heater so i jumped on it the day i laid eyes on it. And haven't looked back.
Built a canopy added some bull lights i got from a swap meet i had the rectangle lights so i cut the holes and mounted them added 33's some new ariels.
Then started getting ready for Cape York 1 ute 4 motor bikes. Had a bit of trouble mid way through the Bloomfield track later found out the filter in the ip blocked up would only rev to 2200 played with it in Cooktown got it to rev to 3200 said that will do carried on with any issues for the rest of the trip except the brake callipers opening up over the corrugations a bit of a surprise coming up to them dips in the road and putting a step ring in back to front when checking wheel bearings
Got tired of 3rd gear up the big hills put a denco turbo kit on it with new ip with boost compensator and injectors happy days, clutch lasted 3 weeks not enough clamp pressure. Updated bull lights for light force xgt's then later updated them to hid removed rectangle lights welded plates in the holes got my hands on a big mother hole saw and fitted 2 light force 140's and upgraded them to hid.
Had a bit of fun coming out of Stanage after a bit of rain ute and boat got nice and dirty. Hooked up a mates boat up in Mackay for a weekend of fishing fun.
Any way the inevitable happened at 2am heading north past Nambor the motor cracked a piston ended up a couple of days late for work, saved up got a jap import td42t had to get a new fly wheel as the aspirated td fly wheel didn't fit, a bit of a jump in the deep end as the only thing i ever did to the old td was change oils and filters. More to come.
