I'm not saying you should do it every gear change just but not being scared to do it occasionally isn't a bad thing. Maybe it's just me but mine will see 3500rpm every time I drive and it's still going well at 330k on original motor with original pump and injectors.
My td42 is original 1990 370k on the clock, didn't the later td42s have lighter pistons?
In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
Before I headed out this morning I had one thing I just had to do.... thanks to mudski and his ebay store I scored a set of door switch rubbers... seems like not much but believe me they are a god send.
On the brindabella trip I had to disconnect my door lights as they were driving me nuts thanks to perished rubbers.
I'm in need of eight of these little suckers, what are the chances you can help Mudski? Can you send me a PM instead of choking up BA's thread full of chatter....... you know how much he hates dribble in his threads!!! hahahahaha
The tacho is more like a guideline than a rule. Anyway, I've heard that a diesel's bore can get glazed if they don't get worked hard enough. Is that true NN?
Yes but this or more likely with incorrect running in and extended idling times ( like hours upon hours in a single session)
