Reason to install a catch can

To be totally honest the reason I installed my catch can on my 2011 gu patrol was through reading about them on this forum..... When i first installed it( about 3000 km ago) I kept checking it and really couldn't see what it was doing so I stopped looking at it and left the drain rolled up and figured I would wait a few 1000 Kms and see what it looks like.....
Well on Friday I decided to have a look and if anything drain it.... And to my surprise this is what came out...

Really really happy I did it now...

What catch can? If it was a provent then it takes a little while for the filter to soak up a bit of oil before it starts collecting in the drain.

Stops blow by dirtying the maf sensor which sends bad signals in regards to air fuel ration causing piston melting in extreme cases, and putting oily air into the intake causing carbon build up

Thought I'd add to this thread. Spent most of today putting back the new intercooler plumbing and fitting a provent catch can. Drove around for an hour, opened up the catch can and there is already a mist of oil on the inside. Taking a peak inside the intercooler, and very nice and clean. No oil residue yet.
