    I will be installing my boost gauge soon, hopefully in a week. Mine is a manual 3.0Di stock, I will report back if mine produces boost or not in neutral.

    No no where near idle, more like 3000rpm when I rev in neutral.

    Yeah it's perfectly normal. Performance wise if I could have 5psi even 10 at idle then it would make for a very quick td

    Yeh if you're revving it to 3000rpm you might start to see it flutter on a TD42, but boost should come on later so you shouldn't see near what you see on a ZD30.

    :P if you were seeing boost at 500, you'd be topped out far too early!

    No you should see more!! There are setups out there which can produce near on 30psi by 2000rpm on a td42 and can hold that til nearly 4000rpm. They make for a very drive able and responsive vehicle.

    Nothing wrong with making boost at 500rpm (although that is a little low for a TD. Seeing boost at 1000rpm is good though and correct turbo sizing won't see you top out to early.
