The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Can also look at the Dune or Oztrail touring tents. We have dune Kimberly 9+ with centre or side pole kit and is great. Usually have it set up and mats etc inside ready to go in around 15 mins unless we feeling lazy

I have a 4 man awning tent on lay by at the moment which will help for quick stop overs or constantly on the go trips

Never underestimate the power of the Tap.

Seriously thinking now of leaving the Camper at home and travelling light in the OzTent. I have the peaked sides and the rear and side awning on the car and am thinking of doing the East West crossing first with the QLD boys and the extra fuel for dragging the camper both ways will be Huge!

There are also a couple of alternative ways for me to get to Dalhousie from the South East up through the Desert too and No Camper will be a Blessing i think?

The wife is OK with the OZ Tent. Not a bad setup. That Tent that Cuppa has for sale though! Damn that thing is Huge! and packs flat and would go on top of the spare tyre on the roof with ease!

hi darren you know my sercumstances ,the reason for leaving my camper at home is the fuel we dont know what the market will be in 12months time and the cost could be double what it is at present, the biggest cost for this trip will be fuel the lighter the better is my thoughts

yeah i agree, towing my camper would see probably an extra $400 to $600 worth of fuel at least, if not more given the price of fuel in the outback. At the end of the day the camper is just a Bed and somewhere to carry a heap of stuff you can do without on a trip like this.

I have all the cooking gear i need to go remote and just need to sort out another option for carrying water as i had removed one of the back seats for the Madigan Line last year and that will not be an option this time.
