Wow Winnie I would not be thinking of dumping that turbo mate! And before you go planning a heap of cash outlay on stuff to cool the sweat girl is be booking it in for a decent tune mate! There is likely Nothing wrong with it other than a really junky tune mate!!!

Seriously mate! You probably won't need the radiator and could get away with tuning it without an intercooler at about 14psi and get a power gain and great temps. This should be your priority 1 before any other plans for your car take hold mate. Truly.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I showed the dyno printout to Diesel-tec in Lilydale and they said they could fix it up a bit, get temps down a little and maybe a bit more power but he said it's probably not worth it and the turbo is too big for the application, which is exactly what Benny and Mat had already told me.

That looks like a good blog Kris. Interesting comments about the trailers too.

Note those from Qld looking to cross East West first, this crossing is a fair bit harder than West to East as the prevailing weather comes from the West and you are climbing the soft steep side of every Dune.

Going East West first was the clincher for me not taking the camper and going back to an OZtent.

Just get a water tight container add dirty clothes soap powder and water and when you get to the end of the day wring them out and hang to dry, the motion of the car will wash them!

Yeah if you have a look at my Madigan Line thread near the end you will see a pic of a 15lt round drum I carried on the roof for washing smalls. Worked great.

At the end of the day though we will be in the desert for 3 to 5 days in total assuming a couple of rest days to enjoy the company and everyone should be self sufficient for at least that period.

Remember that the luxuries all take water! Think about what you really need.

I took precooked rice and then heated it in a pan full of boiling water that I then used for dishes.

The toilet. Sort it out. A portapot is probably not going to work. A toilet seat on a chair is the go and dig and bury as to go.

Maybe a toilet tent which you could use for privacy and for a wash if and when you can. You can have a good wash with 2.5lts or water used wisely including washing your hair. If there are 4 of you though that's 10lts of valuable water. Baby wipes Rock!

Dunny ain't an issue. I grew up on the farm in the bush.. digging holes since I was 5...
Ow yes plenty of wipes. I do 3-4 days without a shower.. depends how many toyos we come across...
And we do one kid after the next in the one bucket.. so I reckon 60L should see us threw the middle..
