You should look at re-doing your floor and hull aswell, when they where made they only fibre glassed the top half of the floor so with the age of these boats they rot, i was just told today that 1 of his mates with a searunner cracked his hull from the screen down, he had the walk thru screen like yours ?? Something to keep in mind

While driving KEEP ALL YOUR WEIGHT AT THE FRONT these boats dont like weight in the rear and keep the motor trimmed at about a quarter more or less depending on the swell, the shape of there hull makes them dig in sideways and you get wet ALOT lol

With you there mate. Just being in the boat, on the bank or beach with a line in the water is pretty hard to beat, any fish that come along are a bonus.

So some advice....if I were heading to the Gippsland lakes around Paynesville for Labour Day, what should I expect to catch and what sort of general purpose rig should I be looking at?

I picked up 2, 9 Ball bearing 4000 series size reels for $15 off ebay BNIB. Can't fault them
Spooled one with 15lb Dyneema Braid the other with 40 lb braid, Plus a truck load of lures .
BFF was amazed that for say $50 I could get so much stuff.
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
