Its not that bad at all. If going EFI with out the turbo expect a torque drop due to the shape of the manifold. Also look at the r31 skyline for the injection kit. If you advance the cam timing as per the r31 skyline workshop manual add efi and a turbo it will be as good as it can be from an rb30.

Calaisturbo.com.au is a good site for Vls getting stripped out info

Id look at buying a complete VL Turbo engine with loom/ECU, then swap over sump etc to fit it into the troll, you also need fuel pump/return line etc, and athough all straight forward, its always more work than you think.

The main thing in going this way, is you know you have everything, and once its physically in, it just works, so your not stuffing around finding bits , and attempting to just get it running, bad driveabilty and tune risks engine damage, and normally results in man getting very stressed and hating the mod/s, so keep it simple so it works first go.

I went through this with my torana, for years i played with turbos on the standard torana engines, always having to stuff around with them to keep them going good, then i put a whole VL turbo engine in it, it was a bit of work sure, but once in, i made more power, used less fuel, and never had to open the bonnet let alone lay a spanner on it.

This is why i don't suggest fitting a blower, not because it won't work great, but its to much R&D to get it finished and right, compared to a RB30 Turbo that has already been all sorted by Nissan for you.

    AND.
if you want to up the anti.
    RB26 head and small twins.
small spin up faster, less top end but lower torque is king here
easy 250+kw atw 4500+ rpm but this will use fuel.

Actually RB26 trying to drive conservative uses more fuel. they are designed to work above 3000rpm.
so careful planing and a engine builder that knows what he's doing can build to what you want to do is the trick.
    IF IT'S NOT A NISSAN.
    THEN IT'S A COMPROMISE
