Easy peasy - i spent hours there watching the snapping handbag action. Cahills Crossing between Kakadu & Arnhemland.
The bloke in the pic fishing is taking a BIG risk.
There are heaps of crocs there..... note this sign doesn't just say Beware of crocs, it says Beware of bloody big, nasty mean mothers of Crocs. (Well almost).

http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2013/06/15.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/cuppa500/8944377583/)

Here's one of 'em I 'captured' at the turn of the tide.

http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2013/06/16.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/cuppa500/8944376581/)

At turn of the tide, even though it's about 60km inland the river stops flowing for around 20 minutes & then changes direction. The crocs have learned that this is a good time to catch themselves a feed of mullet at the crossing & gather in quite large numbers. Better action than on any 'croc jumping tours' & free. Ask at the nearby 'Corner store' for tide times.

Cuppa

P4trol
4th June 2013, 04:00 PM
Good spot. If you read the ntnews a lot of people come a cropper on that crossing. Mostly because they don't wait for the tide, or floodwaters.

lol,

The story goes that a ship ran onto rocks in foul weather a few 100 metres off the coast. The ships boy was thrown into the ocean and began swimming to the larger island to escape and get help. When he dragged himself onto the beach he was clothed only in a shirt as his trousers were lost at sea.........

The point is named after a part of this story.

IMHO, they did not try hard enough.

The stranded ship bought so many more visitors to the area, that the money they were spending locally made leaving the ship there
a bonanza for the local businesses.

It was only a few years ago the last of it was either buried or taken away.
