TPC
14th February 2013, 09:31 PM
It is in SA and the sign was put up by Transport SA, probably to confuse the tourists.
I took this photo coming back from the Simpson July 2010, any guesses what creek or river?

Hmm, you may be right there Nisshead, I note that the croc sign appears to have been just placed there, (not bolted on).
How about the Murray somewhere?

It's a short cut across the Ord River to get to Wyndham via the 'intetesting route'.
Current is apparently quite strong & not good on wheel bearings (Birgit's Kimberey Travel Guide).

Birgit's guide (http://www.kimberleyaustralia.com/kununurra-waterfalls.html) also says "Ivanhoe Crossing is a nice place to sit in the water, too, but beware of saltwater crocodiles. They are plentiful there, so don't attempt to actually swim. Just sit in the spas like the locals do.

YEP !! This Watercolour was painted in Scotland from a Photo taken when they were in Australia and I took them on a Drive through the High Country.
In the Photo my Patrol was further in front of the Hut but Kathleen moved it in her Watercolour
Inserted another Pic in my Post to help

Spot on Mate but the Original was burnt down in the Fires and has been rebuilt by Govt at considerable cost. Although to be fair they installed Toilet Facilities Fences and Information Boards.
Great spot on Sunrise as it is popular for taking Pics of the Sunrise

Yup, that's the one. :)
For our round Oztrip, as you can imagine we had spent a long time thinking about where we wanted to go, but the decision to travel from Mt Isa to Winton via Boulia was one of those spur of the moment things, & one of the best decisions we made. It's a brilliant trip, all single lane bitumen, beautiful outback country (& characters) & was a real surprise to us (as all the best parts of travel always are). We camped at the showgrounds & got to know the caretaker/camel trainer quite well.
If anyone here ever gets to Boulia be sure to meet 'Dinosaur Dick' Suter. But make sure you have an hour or 3 to have your ears chewed, this is a man who has had one of the most interesting lives I ever had the privilege to hear about. Grew up in a circus, was an offshore smuggler & much much more. He now has one of the best collections of fossilised Plesiosaurs, including the only known pregnant example. We were in Boulia for a few days, & every time we mentioned to anyone that we had met Dick, without fail their first response was "Ee can talk can'tee" :)
Then there's the Min Min lights.
Back to you Megatexture.
