There was an historic rail line which passed here, hence the use of rail line & sleepers in the construction in an area where timber & most building materials are in short supply. It’s not Cook, nor is it the Trans Australia rail line, but it is in SA. It is also in a campground.

Yep, it is on the old Ghan line, but TPC just beat you with his spot on answer of Farina, once a rail hub, now a ghost town. The campground there is really quite amazing.... it is surrounded by gibber desert & the campground is a small depression completely hidden from sight until you enter it.

Not sure, possibly. We left our bus at Finch Hatton showgrounds & rode up to the NP on our trail bikes. We did take one 4wd track which I didn’t find too hard, but was a bit testing for my wife. Took us to a camp spot next to a creek. Not sure that it’s recognisable from this pic ....... looking at a couple of youtube videos makes me think it might have been what are called ’the diggings’?
