Hi everyone,

I'm currently planning a project and would really appreciate input from anyone with first-hand experience.

I have a 1997 Nissan Patrol Y60 Pickup, and instead of converting my original chassis, I'm considering transferring the complete Y60 body (cab and bed) onto a Y61 Pickup factory coil-sprung chassis.

I'm not concerned about body mount locations, as fabricating new mounts is not an issue.

What I've Found So Far

  • Both vehicles are Pickup models
  • Both use a ladder-frame chassis
  • Both have a 2970mm wheelbase
  • Overall vehicle width appears very similar
  • The Y61 chassis would give me factory coil suspension

What I'm Trying To Find Out

  1. Has anyone actually completed this swap?
  2. Will the Y60 cab fit the Y61 chassis without modifying the body itself?
  3. Is the Y60 bed the same width as the Y61 bed?
  4. Do the wheels line up correctly in the arches?
  5. What were the biggest challenges besides body mounts?
  6. Would you choose this route instead of converting the original chassis?

I'm mainly looking for advice from people who have done this conversion themselves or have seen one completed.

Any measurements, photos, build threads, workshop experience, or useful information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
