    Looking at the drawings now. Yep, on manuals the solenoid is powered directly from the ignition. As Mudski says: Check Earth resistance from starter body to battery negative. ...Or your starter solenoid is shot. Failing solenoids often manifest problems when they're hot.

    (I have the exact same vehicle, a 2005 TD42ti DX ute. Went and grabbed my good meter from the shed, measured the resistance from the body of my starter to the battery negative and it's too low for the meter to even read, just comes up 0.00 Ohms, if that helps as a reference).
