    D-Ring recovery information?

    Hi all,

I am new to my y61 series 4 (3.0L) and am getting it prepped for offroading. Just looking into recovery stuff and was planning on getting some tow points for the front. But the back of my patrol has a D-Ring above the towbar.

Wondering if this is a custom install recovery point from a previous owner? I can't find any details about its recovery capabilities. If you have any knowledge/experience with this sort of thing, I'd love to hear about it.

    Thanks for your help.

Mate it is not a rated recovery point, remove the pin from the towbar and remove the towball part and purchase a rated recovery hitch.
Do not use the towball as a recovery point either.
Need more info just let me know.

Thanks mate. Yeah I was looking at getting a recovery hitch for the back anyway, so I'll take that safer option.
And yes I've seen the warnings about towball recovery

Any clue what the D ring would be used for? Just a backup anchor for a trailer in case the main towbar snaps or comes loose maybe?
